      I don’t think Steve normally replys to comments on here, he must not be on TH-cam as much and is probably really busy, so here is a copied and pasted thing i found out for you: As redeposited minerals build up after countless water drops, a stalactite is formed. If Steve sees this he might give you a better answer.

      GREAT question! Sorry the vid doesn't answer it. These caves were formed during a time when much of our water was bound up in glaciers. Sea levels were radically lower and these caves would have been mostly dry (and you could have walked from England to Denmark!)

      @Steve Backshall Cheers for taking the time to reply Steve...its much appreciated. I'd suspected the mineral deposition had been during the dryer era's but was curious as to whether I'd missed some mysterious underwater process 👍
