Idk what bagel is seeing but his damage is literally insane, mostly when you take in that he can't crit at all. I mean, clearly he's not gonna do that much into a tank team with a 44% defense lead. But even then it was still not the worst. Also, against molly most attackers will seem meh unless they can't glancing hit. Even THEN, he did 20k & 18k on a glancing hit, WHILE defense broken. Plus you can build him def based, still do dmg, or attack based and still be somewhat tanky. I can see him being used a lot in pvp by mid-end game players that have him.

Since his passive is about defense in the beggining of the battle, shouldn't a defense leader skill be more helpful than a defense buff during the fight? Depends on what kicks in first, if the defense leader skill or his passive

Yeah, I have 2 runes for this guy, one is a slot 4 seara rune and the other is an atk based healer support rune on slot 6. I know for a fact I've thrown out a couple of perfect runes for him over the years

This unit is soo fcking good. He hes running like +2500 atk and like +2000 def during a match which makes him soo tanky, just have to worry about def break. He deffinitely 1 shots all dark cats, c1 g3 doesnt matter through molly and vigor. Hes a solid tank dps

I think we all underestimate just how much bonus damage he gets from defense. It may even be proper to build him DEF DEF DEF.

Kaki gains bonus damage based on defense when the "battle begans" so even if he gets hit with a defense break it doesn't lower his damage output.
