Zao Fox Village: feeding time

- I went to the Zao fox village to see what it was really like after seeing a TH-cam video about it (Rachel and Jun). About 20minutes after I arrived I witnessed feeding time (10am).
This snap shot of my time there is not the whole picture and I'd suggest not making sweeping judgements based off of a 2minute video. That's why I went - to see, and judge, for myself.

- Is it a fur farm?
Not to my knowledge. I saw no evidence there, or online at the time (or since) to support that. I've seen suggestion that some of the foxes have been rescued from the fur industry. I saw very young foxes there too, so I suspect they are able to breed.
- Is this a good place to visit?
Umm tough one. I would be lying if I didn't say that it was lovely seeing foxes up close (they are gorgeous). Another of my videos shows a love moment I had with a fox giving me a belly display. and two playing together. It would also be disingenuous to say I felt at ease the whole time and I didn't see things I wasn't happy with.
-Is this enough food?
I honestly don't know. I wasn't there long enough to see how much they were given, how often, and whether the diet varies.

Really it’s the well known fox village it’s a shelter that protects them from illegal hunts and by Asian regions laws aren’t allowed to be interfered with at all in Asian regions foxes are protected and have shelters or villages that are made to protect them most them are rescued foxes theres fox village is in Japan a country well known for protecting foxes by law it’s illegal to hunt them it’s illegal to have their coats or tails it’s illegal to have them as pets and you have to have permission and a license to breed them

@@elithluxe7568 Its entirely not their natural habitat, foxes are not a pack animal. See how they're all fighting with each other over the food? These "sanctuaries" usually have a lot of bad stories, dead and abused foxes and injured foxes hidden from sight. Reports of even drugged up foxes to keep them calm for tourists in some other "sanctuaries".... its all a big tourist money trap.

And if I recall this a well know fox shelter that saves and protects wild foxes from hunters hunting them illegally

I really wouldn't know what to do with myself with so many foxes around lol.. I myself had raised just one fox named Tod and he was absolutely amazing and truly friendly to everyone who'd give him any attention, But I've never seen so many foxes in one place and don't believe that this is normal but I'm no expert.. @kathleen mcallister I didn't say that they released or release so many at once just that I've never seen so many foxes in one place at once and I love it.
@kathleen mcallister And as far as this organization goes I have not heard of them but I'll look into it more.. I was just sharing my personal experience/story because I saw and watched this video and it made me remember the fox I had and how much I had fun having a fox around.
@kathleen mcallister I just handed over a coyote to a small rescue near me after 6 months of taking care of her and I'll definitely miss her but just knowing that she'll be with other coyotes and well taken care of is good for me and I'll just have to deal with the loss. I'm no rehabilitator honestly but I do try really hard to help any animals in need of care until I can find a center or organization that'll take good care of them. I don't mind the sleepless nights and hand feeding/bottle feeding because of the joy I get from playing around with them. Never do I get them too comfortable with humans tho in hopes that they can be let go back into the wild because it is the right thing to do no matter how cute or adorable they are.. Sure, foxes are cute. But they are predators, and can be destructive.
@@norbertsiewert3917 Had a Raccoon as well and she would destroy the house but only because they have thumbs and can really grab ahold of anything lol. They were not the only "Wild" animals I've had in my years but they were the most friendly and fun to be around. I miss them both every single day.

Such beautifull creatures. When i lived in the uk countryside a dog fox used too cut threw my garden at 9 every morning could set my clock by him . I used too put a dish of dog meat out each day in winter too help him and his family out . Lovely video cheers and good luck ❤

Foxes would never naturally live in such a crowd. They are solitary and have big territories. If they are all so crammed in together like this, and can't feed themselves by hunting, it means people have done something to force them to live like this. Whether it's to breed them for fur or for tourism or something else, he is not doing anything good for these foxes. They need to be off wandering alone and hunting, not packed in with hundreds of others and having to live off dog food.

Because the foxes are kinda being abused and there is a sad truth about it

Foxes are living in small groups in the wild. There they need a lot of space for finding enough food. Under human care and regular feeding a large territory no longer is a priority.
Same applies to animals in a zoo.
As many domesticated animals cows, chicken, pigs, rabbits, dogs, cats, you name it.

@@aleksandrsmirnov602 Лису можно приручить, но она по-прежнему остаётся хищником, ведь мать природа инстинкты не отменяла пока. Но насчёт фальшивых друзей, хищник чует, кто есть кто. Либо она примет тебя, либо будет избегать как угрозу.
Их потом режут. Это меховая зверо ферма. Бабка рассказывала она по молодости по сорок лис держала, пушнину сдавали. Раньше деревни в России специализировались на чём то. Где то иконы рисовали, где гончарные изделия производили, где то платки плели и т.д. Наша деревня специализировалась на пушнине. Потом государство ввело монополию, на водку, на пушнину. Промысел которым занимались веками не угас. Животных прятали, или держали в подвалах. Что соседи не сдали песцам отрезали язычки, что бы они не гавкали.

Yup, i was feeding horses in pitch black (well, only illuminated by the stable lights) and I heard much, much scarier screaming 20 meters away. Horses were unphased by it, but I was really nervous. I didn´t see anything, but they were heard everywhere xD Like a death scream of a woman.

I used to think that foxes were related to dogs and wolves. But I never used to know what sounds a fox makes. Because of the sounds they make, and they're alot less threatening than wolves and wild dogs, I'm not sure about them being in the same category as dogs and wolves. Are foxes more of a cross between dogs and beavers, or dogs and racoons?

Problem is they forage naturally. When you feed them then you take that away from them. They become dependant on humans, like dogs do. They're not dogs. I know you like them, so do we but...

At most they are getting a couple bites not nearly enough to feed them fully.
@@frostbitemn7395 doing it at all is a mistake. They go where it's easiest. You might think that's NOT feeding them, but that's not what THEY think. They're smart animals.

They are bred in captivity, they can't go back to the wild. Sure they're not dogs but they're still dependent on human care, so to treat them differently would be cruel.

The fox village is a place that rescues foxes from illegal fox hunts and protects them fur farms for foxes are illegal in Asian regions because you get a jail sentence for killing foxes and get punished for having they’re coats and tails

Лисы тут живут счастливо, их часто кормят, за ними ухаживают, у них много свободного пространства и НИКАКИХ шуб, сапог или сумок из них в этом месте не делают. В лисьих фермах, где их разводят для шуб, за ними так не ухаживают, у них мало свободного места и лис размножают только по подходящему цвету меха, а не как тут, все разноцветные.
A defender of nature wouldn't hoard so many in one area. A return to the wild would have been appropriate. These fox are imprinted on humans. I'm betting it's a fur farm. They're just not letting visitors see.

Yeah people fail to find out in Asian regions foxes are safe it’s illegal to hunt them it’s illegal to put them in fur farms it’s illegal to touch them and you can’t make them pets the fox village and shelters are well know for rescuing foxes from illegal fox hunts and protects them from hunters and to my knowledge let’s them go after awhile that or it’s the few fox breeding shelters that need permission from the Asian governments to do it with a permeant most people don’t understand that foxes are safe in Asian countries like chine Japan and the other’s they are heavily protected by laws and it’s a big sentence for killing one fox alone
