its a analogy of his life he did the norm went to school graduated- got a office/corp job. Then he discovered comedy/ rap and he loved it an got better at it while he was workin.

It’s more or less he thought he was gonna be big in comedy, but discovered rap. “Trust me I was born to be big, but I always thought it would be the comedy gig, so I started rapping to see what drama it brings”

You were super close with your analysis of his analogy. I’m really impressed considering it’s your first listen. For dicky, the farm wasn’t comedy it was his day job. Dicky mentions conforming to the “ruralist locality,” for him it was the wealthy suburb mentality of get a degree and get a good job. He worked at a big marketing firm for years when he put out his first mixtapes for fun. Got sum buzz and blew up on Reddit and here he is with his own tv show based on his life. Again really great analysis. Keep up the great work.
Also react to the Pillow Talking video and Save Dat Money if you haven’t already.

Damn. I was going to suggest this on the last video. You’re on top of it, bro. This song blew my mind. It’s dope. Also, with the analogy, Lil Dicky wanted to rap, but had other options. Some people feeling like rap is their only way out of the hood. Dicky never had to get out of the hood. But… when you got it, you got it. I don’t think anyone is too mad.

He was saying that he started rapping because he wanted to be on TV comedy shows and he genuinely was trying to work towards that. He only started rapping to try to get attention from Hollywood executives to get a comedy tv show. But then he realized that he was actually really good at rapping and maybe that is really his destiny. Now, he has found success at something he is really good at and it has given him the opportunity to have his TV show, but he is confused if that is the right move because now he knows he is a really good rapper and people can't wait for him to drop new music. He has success and he doesn't know if he should even pursue the TV dream he had or if rap is his new dream. He focused so much on rap to get that attention that now he doesn't need a tv show to be famous and for people to know how funny and smart he is. He has already proven all of that in his rap career. Then he compared that story to a fictional Russell Westbrook who grew up on a farm instead of the inner city. When Russel shows up to the invitational everyone saw some farm boy while they had been focused on basketball their whole lives the way this fictional Russell was focused on his farm, and the way the real Dicky was focused on becoming a TV star. It is strange how things work out. Sometimes we don't really learn who we are and what we want out of life until we experience more things and gain perspective.

Yo i just found your channel so i might be recomending something you know about but there is this rapper called "ak" (iamtherealak) and he started his career doing remixes of other peoples beats when he was 16 and he killed all of them. You'll get a good chunk of views from his fan base if you react to his catalogue. Go to his channel and start from the beginning, watching his evolution is amazing and his fanbase is all over the youtube reaction "network". You not mentioning his name when listing off rappers that have killed other rappers beats made me type this. Also i think joyner lucas falls in that category as well.
On this video, bro keep it up doing reactions how you're doing them. You're bar breakdown skills are top tier and you don't ramble about nothing like a lot of dudes do lmao. Great work and we all know you're gonna do some more dicky (haha) and i just gotta say that "save dat money" and "professional rapper" are 2 songs/videos you gotta do. Also there is a "part 2" of sorts to this song called "make belief" which is 🔥
Ps the "farm" was dickys regular job he had after college. He had a solid career writing commercials and stuff like that. Comedy/rapping were basketball in the analogy.

´Not brown but I make it pop and I beat that´
I have never heard this interpretation but I think I got it.
Micheal Jackson, King of pop, MADE pop. (One of) his biggest hits being Beat It, Dicky Beat That.

If you like the homophone use in this song you should check out battle rapper Carter Deems. Might be a weird style for you to listen to at first but worth it.

You were close on the analogy, he had a 6 digit corporate job after graduating college. Could of done just fine there, started doing the comedy/rapping thing.
