I saw Gary in the early 1980’s. His sound was so distinctive and his personality so engaging I have never forgotten it.
i immediately teared up when he started playing. brilliant. genius.
I was fascinated by your performance.
I want to play the contrabass like you.
and i wanna play the double bass like Bozo Paradzik😂

One of the greatest double bass players of all time!
Thanks Maestro Karr!!!
My teacher! He and Harmon came to the NAU Summer music camp in the 1970s and 80s and I attended his Bass master classes as my own teacher, a Juliard grad, was the camp Viola teacher and I saw him 50 weeks a year. Anyway, Gary Karr had some amazing fingerboard exercises that were EXACTLY the same ones I learned from my teacher so I wrote a report for Viola master class that went like this. Gary Karr practices and teaches the EXACT same left hand and Bow control calisthenics as Mr. Gruber. Ha! I loved Gary's energy and I know he misses Kousi, his beloved Amati Bass. My teacher, Mr. Bill Bagwell had played Sax with Gary's Dad back in Philadelphia I think. So Bill had an Amati Viola and that's weird because Gary's Bass looked a lot like Bill's Amati. That was one beautiful black bass!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
GREAT!PAX!
It's impeccable. And I really do not like any Bottesini and all that awful VIBRATO WAFFLE, but I'll always watch Gary Karr just nailing it time and again. What a hero. He's very sincere about it all.
He sounds huge!
That was wonderful...Bravoooooo !!
I love music concert with some comedy efect..it really makes you be alert and don't fall asleep...because I know that music is mystical and some times boring because there's no act on it...But that's show business !!
