  • Not only will you be teaching your kids an important life skill with laundry, you'll lighten your own load because you can put them to work at home! My oldest does all her own laundry start to finish and my other kids help fold and put away all their clothes, which is great. This week is all about giving them the skills they need to sort laundry, deal with stains, use the washer and dryer, fold, and put away clothes.
    Kids are never too young to learn household chores and skills. Younger kids need a lot more help in the beginning, but as they shadow you, they'll be able to do more and more on their own. I like to look at it like an apprentice/mentor model. It helps me realize that sometimes I have expectations for my kids to just know how to do things, when in reality, I haven't taught them yet!
    The skills we're going over this week are:
    * Sorting
    * Stains
    * Washing + Drying
    * Folding
    * Washing bedding

    So how do you get their clothes up w/ their help? You label the drawers? Teach them where it goes and they just know to put it there?
