I'm a delivery driver; just like FedEx but with a different company. Athens is one of the core areas of my territory, the others being Palestine, TX, on up to Lake Palestine, and over to the areas surrounding Cedar Creek Lake (Mabank, Gun Barrel City, Malakoff). I worked this territory for 10 years, every day a new set of addresses to visit. Lately I've been off working another rural territory in North Texas; Gainesville TX and surrounding areas. Two months ago, I came back to this area, and it's been like coming home. And I'm here to stay this time. As I enjoy your videos, I came to realize that I know these streets better than I know the streets of my own city. And I guess it stands to reason, since I spend more time here than at home. And yet, every day I get to go somewhere I've never been before. I think you and I are kindred spirits. You are an explorer, and so am I. And judging by the videos you've made, you have a passion for Texas - and so do I. Over the past 40+ years I've spent much of my free time exploring Texas, in detail. From El Paso to Beaumont, from Laredo to Wichita Falls, from Amarillo to Houston, from Big Bend to Texarkana, and all points in between. The only part of Texas that I haven't covered is the southeast coastal regions, Victoria TX and surrounding areas. And I avoid the Interstates as much as I can; I use the US and State Highways, and the FM's. It's the only way to travel, as far as I'm concerned. Using the Interstates is like flying there on a plane. You'll get there faster, but you won't see anything. Not only Texas, but the U.S. too; I'm at 29 States and counting. I am blessed to have a job that pays me to indulge my passion of exploring Texas. What's that old saying, "Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life...." And doubly blessed that I get to spend every day in one of the most beautiful areas of the country, right here in East Texas.
