I'm just learning to spin...I have a hard time, when doing short draw with just the front hand moving, in not letting the twist get back into the fiber. Can you explain more how the twist is not getting into the fiber? (PS: Someone in a spinning group recommended your channel and I'm finding it super helpful! Thank you!)
Hi Kimberly. I'm glad it's helping you. The twist isn't getting int omy fiber supply because I'm pinching with my forward hadn to keep it from happening. yes, I need to loosen the grip to let the fiber go through but there shouldn't be a detrimental amount of twist getting in. Have you tried park and draft to get the hang of drafting. That might help with your issues.
Your hands need to be placed where it's best for the staple length of the wool. If you kept your hands at the same distance for all wools, it wouldn't help you to spin. Too far for a merino and it escapes too much. Too close for a long wool and you can't draft at all.

What are the differences if you are using a longwool - teeswater for example? How does that affect hand placement and such?
