    Maybe a dumb question but if I have Japanese cards and decided to sell where would be your preferred method to do so?

    • @PokeNickinJapan
      @PokeNickinJapan  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is no such thing as dumb questions ;-) I’m actually preparing a video about it ^^
      If you have booster boxes they are better sold online. If we are talking about singles, card shops might give you a good deal for it, but the price might change a lot from one place to another.
      Another option is also to go through me if you have cards I am interested in we could potentially trade :-) (see my insta for more details)

    based on price sold off course no. 1 is English and 2nd is Japanese

    • @PokeNickinJapan
      @PokeNickinJapan  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you base yourself on price sold then you’re in the investor position am I right?
      English has a higher entry point with higher price tags (including msrp) but show more growth and go fetch higher prices long term.
      As a collector though if your goal is to get the pieces you need for your collection at the best price possible (without thinking about reselling I mean) English isn’t always the way to go.

    Awesome and informative video Sir👍It's very challenging if you want to collect but at the same time you would want to invest or sell in near future.😅 Choosing which one in what language to acommodate that intention is very difficult 🤔

    • @PokeNickinJapan
      @PokeNickinJapan  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is. Ideally if you want to invest the best possible you should remove all kind of emotion when you purchase an item. But as collection is precisely based on emotions, it’s hard to combine both :-)

    I’ve been picking up some of the BW secret rares like crazy on Mercari, they’re way more affordable compared to their English counterparts and look so much better. I’ve just been buying B-B+ tier copies of them for only like $30-40 a piece and they look so good

    • @PokeNickinJapan

      It’s crazy when you compare the price of the singles and the price of the Japanese BW booster boxes.

      @@PokeNickinJapanunfortunately one of the consequences of grading becoming so popular in the hobby. Anything that has potential to pop out a 10 for low population cards just completely skyrockets in price. One of the many reasons why I dislike slabs and the whole concept behind grading

    I don’t remember if I told you… I remember when I was a kid and thought having Japanese cards were the rarest thing in the world because Pokemon came from Japan! Japanese cards will always keep its value, even with the recent pull back. Also, nothing makes me more mad than hitting a chase card in ENG with super poor centering or already bad corners…

    • @PokeNickinJapan
      @PokeNickinJapan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha! I was feeling the same about Japanese cards as a kid, and some of my friends who didn’t know what Japanese language look like thought they were just fake cards xD I hear you for the quality control on the English side. Hitting a Giratina V alt art from a PokeBall tin and having the corners destroyed, that hurts…

    out of star birth, silver lance, jet black poltergeist, towering perfection and paradigm trigger, which two boxes would you say is the best for investing over the long term?

    • @PokeNickinJapan
      @PokeNickinJapan  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hard to say. I’m not an investor but I would remove towering perfection first, unless you know a duraludon fan.
      I personally have never been a star birth fan, even though I’m the first one to admit the Charizard V alt is gorgeous. Paradigm trigger I’m partial cause I’m a huge Lugia fan but I’ll admit that outside of the Lugia V alt the set is not the best. So I’d go for silver lance and jet black spirit. One of the reason is that ultimately, you will have people who want to collect all the vmax alt arts, and they do have 2 of them.

    Hey awesome video! I actually plan to visit Japan some time and was thinking about selling my Japanese cards. Do you know what website/app stores in Japan use to base their prices off of? And if you have any knowledge on selling Japanese cards, do you know at what percent stores buy them at?

    • @PokeNickinJapan
      @PokeNickinJapan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! Glad you enjoy the content :-)
      I’m actually preparing a video about selling cards in Japan. But what I can say is that buyback prices in Japan aren’t great.
      It’s going to be most likely around 50% of the market price. Usually each store has its own database when it comes to prices, it’s not like in the US where they can just have a look at TCGplayer.
      Interesting thing is that for some stores these database are public so you can find it on their website but it will be all in Japanese of course.
      Fun fact, if you watch today’s video you will see what an online buyback database looks like ;-) so perfect timing!

      @PokeNickinJapan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! :-) Every time I see a promo being pulled away from a Japanese set I’m like « again?! ». XY/Sun&Moon was definitely the worst eras for that as they removed mostly chase cards. I don’t think they’ve done it in Sword&Shield. But they did do it with 151 (Mew ex sar….)

    As usual, very instructive video ! 🤩
    That’s funny because it was exactly what I was wondering right now.
    Well, I recently pulled some VSTAR Universe (which I will now keep one sealed thanks to your video) and couldn’t be more satisfied with the quality !
    I mean, when you’re used to french cards and get your hands on japanese ones, it’s like you ate shit all your life and finally discover and taste good dishes…
    From now on, I’ll buy only japanese cards for collecting/master set(and keep sealed if I can) and french cards to keep sealed and see what happens, no more for collecting
    Thanks again for your great works, appreciated 👍
    PS : btw you’re right about the back of the cards BUT the truth is a Pokeball opens in the japanese way illustration 😂
    Our whole life is a lie !🥹
