The reason y destiny wasnt as popular as it shouldve been is because it was hidden behind a paywall that not a lot of people knew, and also the english subtitles were terrible, I couldnt understand 70% of what was happening

I really enjoyed Y-destiny. One thing I wanted to happen in the final episode was to have Thursday talking to Perth’s character. He could see ghosts! It would have been so funny if he was talking to him in the background of a scene.
This is more of a directing issue, but personally, I lost my crap every time your character was on screen just smiling silently. The scene with everyone eating and you just sitting and smiling was the one that did it the most for me. Tickled me pink😭😭😭💀

Most people I know only watched specific stories, completely skipping others, and only after Y Destiny was finished. My favorite story is by far ToruFirst. That couple had so much potential, but their next series together, War of Y, was a disaster. Also, season 2 of YYY was SO good.

Y Destiny having that small 3 hour window for people who paid for the TH-cam channel access internationally was a real killing point, and it pushed a lot of our views to reuploads on billibilli or dailymotion. But you also had to be fast to watch those before they were taken off for copyright. War of Y was put on GagaOOLala, and it referenced Y Destiny a few times (and MaxNat had Naughty Babe do really well) but im pretty sure people who went looking for it then haven’t been able to really access it still.
Y destiny was like the MCU of the bl at the time, it was like collecting bl actors at once. But for real there where so many good actors that came out from this show.
So I actually found you through Y destiny. I hadn't seen My engineer before and I really loved your story/ character so much that I was SO excited to see you in Kinnporsche. If anything there was a reason why you did this show and im so grateful for it

I _LOVED_ YYY! It was so absurd and surrealistic and unpredictable and hilarious. Poppy was so funny in that! I also remember that ridiculous 1-hour time window on TH-cam for Y-Destiny and how I set a timer every week so I wouldn't miss it. I think the stories were a bit hit or miss, some were better than others. My favourites were yours and ToruFirst (I don't remember which weekday it was, but it was the FWB to lovers story). Some of the others had potential but didn't manage to fully blossom within the format. I kind of felt like the whole series was trying out a bunch of new talents to see how they did, but with a few established, better known pairings (or triplings) mixed in to pull in audiences. And then they put it on AIS Play, which wasn't even accessible to people outside of Thailand, it was such a weird choice.
I love how you start off praising YYY It really was weird, hilarious, and it even made me cry! Loved Talay, but also Yoon, Poppy, Apple, and all the others. I'll admit I haven't watched Y-Destiny yet. Mostly because 7 couples is a LOT. AIS play also was an issue, but if you know inter fans, you know we can get "creative" when it seems content is kept from us (many of us are even willing to pay for it, as you can tell from all the people who have Viki pass, iQIYI VIP, youtube memberships, GagaOOLala VIP subscriptions, etc.) I will give it a try soon, though. I think. Oh god there are so many series I still have to watch. Maybe I'll just watch Cutie Pie again to calm down after seeing my to watch list

I really liked the story Y-destiny you were in. Like you said, it was different to anything we've seen in BLs at that time or since. I also thought it was such a sweet story, with Yoon's character being so understanding of Talay's grief. It was definitely my favourite story of the 7.
On the topic on the "deleted" scene I definitely remember your character giving Talay's the okay to move on and kiss Pun. I thought it was neat but kinda funny. I remember not being sure if Talay's char saw or heard you tho, but I def had mad respect for you three rocking a trouple. I agree I don't think I've seen it done by anyone else bc any actors that get re-paired just seem to forget their previous partners. Which isn't to assume they really do they just are probably advised to not mention him and instead to keep selling their new pairing

I enjoyed Y-Destiny, especially the Thursday couple story of Thurs and Pao. I agree with you that there were too little episodes for each couple. However, I think it was a great pioneer in compilation BLs (BLs with a shit ton of couples). it showed off its advantages (shuffling past potentially bad stories quicker, more cute guys, more 'fin', etc) but also its disadvantages. And because of that, many shows I think has learned from this. Now we potentially get one of the better compilation BLs in awhile, We Are, so ya, the industry is improving per se!
YYY was chaotic irIelavant fun. When it came out, some people said it wasn't for them, but I do recommend it. I saw Y-Destiny as well and really enjoyed it. I agree it would have been better if the stories had more time, but maybe two episodes each was all they could afford since funding BL shows is always an issue. When I saw the promos for the series, I thought we were going to get a poly story rather than a ghost story. 🤣I think Y-Destiny probably got more viewers outside of Thailand since we didn't have the same limitations when it was available. I saw it on TH-cam, but I don't remember having any problems with it cutting off after it started. Having said that, one reason why it might not have done as well as other shows was because it aired during the lockdown. There were so many Thai shows, not to mention ones from Korea, Taiwan, and the Philippines, that the viewers could choose from.
gotta speak here since y-destiny has been my safe place bl since its release !! i feel like for international fans was hard to find a place to watch it + with good subtitles, i speak thai but my other friends that watch it didn't and they say every place had TERRIBLE subtitles in english, like you couldn't understand what was going on most of the time. for me, as i said, it has been my safe place since then, also talking about most of the actors of here. my personal favorite couple (like as their story, chemistry and everything) was first and toru (they are also the ones i follow most right now, appart from you and talay of course). again, it's so nice that you talk about all these stuff and we can know better, i'm really waiting for the cutie pie and kinnporsche ones !!

I have always felt like Y Destiny tied together the two couples perfectly and absolutely strengthened the viewers' connection to both PerthLay and YoonTalay. But I wish it was promoted differently for sure. That show made me cry in the best way. But I kind of mostly watched for your story. There was a lot going on in it ahaha. You being around in the last episode did feel like closure in a way; watching over his happiness. It was cute!
Perth, I've been following your career since My Engineer, and I definitely watched your episodes of Y Destiny. In fact, the only two stories I watched were MaxMat's and yours. I had to sneakily watch them at work during the short window they were available on TH-cam (I'm in the USA). Accessibility was definitely an issue for inter fans. On another note I really loved YYY. That show was insane. I liked the connection that was built between you, Talay and Yoon and enjoyed your TH-cam vlogs together. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I love these kind of videos!
For what you said about making it hard to watch. It also depends on the promotion, for example, KinnPorsche was hard to watch, iqiyi is not available in a lot of countries, is not cheap, the eng subtitles where bad and subtitles in other languages were lacking, but the series became so big because it had really good pre realese pomotion and made people want to watch. Also it helped create a fanbase and thanks to that fanbase a lot of fans could watch it for free with subtitles in their languages thanks to piracy (not saying to support piracy but it's inevitable). So easy access is good but promotion is everything.
When it comes to the PerthTalayYoon triad/throuple, I think it can be done now too with other pairings. Especially since I have started to see some…not a lot but some integration of throuples starting to be seen in BL as of late, but it was also done in Three Will Be Free. I think that it’s also cause that’s when BL was still relatively new. Even for the fact probably that toxic shipping was common at the time, despite it happening now still. There could of been fandom wars between PerthTalay and YoonTalay fans, and it still happens now with other pairings unfortunately. So I think having PerthTalayYoon was a good idea to break the tension between fandoms in not arguing which pairing was better.
Loved what you said about YYY and I couldn't agree more! This show was such a hilarious mess but it was lighthearted and nice! The characters had some sweetness to them and overall I really enjoyed that it was one house filled with freaks, it made everything so wholesome in a way

It was really interesting to get a peek behind the curtain and hear about your experience filming, preparing, and reflecting on Y-Destiny. I remember how among my online friends I was one of the few who quite liked/supported the drama (for varying reasons). Let me tell you, as an international fan, it was a STRUGGLE to watch it. I had to rearrange my day just to catch it or, unfortunately, watch reuploads. Y-Destiny was an interesting experiment to me. To this day-other than 7 Project-I don't think I've seen a drama try to tackle so many couples' stories. 7 was especially unheard of for me at the time of it's release. Your episodes/throuple was actually in second place for my favorite. I found the story very complex, particularly how it touched on/discussed respecting and saving that empty space for your lover's lost partner. How it balanced both holding on and letting go. That it isn't all or nothing. Despite its flaws and couples I felt could have used better direction/a stronger story and the pain that it was to try to watch it, as a whole, I ended up rating it highly.

I always wanted to watch the series , especially when it was on the air . You hit the nail on the head though: the lack of accessibility is what prevented me from supporting the series and the actors . And it was a shame because I was so intrigued by it. The whole days of the week and the color coded characters concept . Wish it was broadcasted differently .. This reminded me I need to find a way to see it . Great video with great insight . I’m one of the people who watched Y-Destiny while it was airing and while it was a bit hard to access, I managed to watch all the episodes in that limited time on yt and I enjoyed it from start to finish, I liked all the gimmicks and I was prepared for each couple to have only two episodes so it wasn’t disappointing, it was different and fun to watch. I love Cheewin as a director, his series are really unique and visually stunning. I can see how much he cares about his work. I really liked how we got to see you, Talay and Yoon in one show, because I had watched both My Engineer and YYY and I liked them a lot, so it was like the cherry on top to see the three of you together, even though it was painful watching your character die :’) I’ve personally never seen anyone say anything negative about Talay having two ships at the same time, and I didn’t think much of it, outside the fact that it was unusual, but exciting! So I was surprised to hear you say that it wasn’t ideal, but I can see why now. Overall, it’s definitely a series I recommend, it’s fun and a series with many different stories and characters has its charm, but I don’t know where it is available to watch for international fans as of now 🤔
What was disappointing is that after Y-Destiny, which introduced many new actors, I was expecting for some of them to get their own full length series, but that never happened 😔
I actually watched it and I remember being super shocked that your character died and Talay ended up with Yoon. 🤭🙈But in the end I found the story very good - although by far too short. You all did a great job portraying the characters. And the story was very well told.

I really enjoyed Y-Destiny! There were a few of us that I know of watching it as it aired. Some of the couples from that show are still some of my favorites. I really wished your story line had more episodes because I love stories where someone learns to love again after losing love. It's always very heartwarming. I would have loved for that story to be more fleshed out.
Cheewin did great job with YYY and Y destiny, at that time I missed the Comedy BL genre (Make It Right the series era). Really enjoyed it but it didn't reached internationally as it did lack subs then and Cheewin isn't really good with English but that's okay! 😊 That Y destiny project when it was introduced I was so excited as the characters were named by days 😄 but seriously I had to let out some tears when it came to Masuk story. 😭 LINETV shouldn't have shut down 😢 it was my lifesaver of Thai BL series. I love, love, love Y Destiny, Perth!!!! I've watched it a couple of times and it is where I discovered some of my favorite "BL" actors, you included!! 😊😊 Besides you, one of my absolute delights to watch is Nat! That little fellow is so dang cute, I just want to mother him until the world ends! But seriously, Y Destiny is a good show - I think most of the stories were definitely at least decent, if not down right good and interesting. It is a shame that those stories couldn't be fleshed out and perhaps developed into even better scripts, but for what they were and for the time frame the series was made in, they are good. There was first love lost, love betrayed, jealousy, envy, pride; a little supernatural intervention, a great deal of earthly pleasure, and 7 happy endings... in my book, that all equals a job well done 😉😉😊😊😊

Yes. Y-Destiny has cool pairs and nice stories to enjoy. My personal favorite was yours and the one with MaxNat, but you’re right. It had many disadvantages like the number of episodes and the platforms to watch it. If there’s something that gets international fandoms angry is the many restrictions with those platforms. As I recall, international fans started to almost outnumber Thai fans back in those days, yet with the lack of subtitles and location/payments restrictions, Y-Destiny (and many other projects) lost good amount of viewers.
I feel like Y-Destiny came out around the same time as Close Friend Season 1, which was also an anthology of short stories like Y-Destiny. And in the case of Close Friend it felt like they were using Season 1 as a test to see which of the ships people liked, which were then continued into a more long form format in Season 2.
I had to run back to my MDL page and check, but within my notes, each of the 2 episode plotlines had their own individual ratings which I then just averaged out. I loved some of the storylines more than others. I felt like it struggled to paint a full picture with their rush to the end on each (with the 2 episode plotlines, it makes sense). This was such a treat though. I appreciated hearing what it felt like from your own perspective during the 2 ongoing ship situation (?) for lack of a better word. As always, thank you so much for the sort of behind the scenes post-show rundown.

Most people I know only watched specific stories, completely skipping others, and only after Y Destiny was finished. My favorite story is by far ToruFirst. That couple had so much potential, but their next series together, War of Y, was a disaster. Also, season 2 of YYY was SO good.
I agree, ToruFirst had a great story in Y Destiny! That along with the Yoon-Lay-Perth story were my favourites.

Y Destiny having that small 3 hour window for people who paid for the TH-cam channel access internationally was a real killing point, and it pushed a lot of our views to reuploads on billibilli or dailymotion. But you also had to be fast to watch those before they were taken off for copyright. War of Y was put on GagaOOLala, and it referenced Y Destiny a few times (and MaxNat had Naughty Babe do really well) but im pretty sure people who went looking for it then haven’t been able to really access it still.

I really enjoyed Y-Destiny! I really loved all of the stories! It was one of the first Series I watched when I started BL's.
Y destiny was like the MCU of the bl at the time, it was like collecting bl actors at once. But for real there where so many good actors that came out from this show.

I _LOVED_ YYY! It was so absurd and surrealistic and unpredictable and hilarious. Poppy was so funny in that!
I also remember that ridiculous 1-hour time window on TH-cam for Y-Destiny and how I set a timer every week so I wouldn't miss it. I think the stories were a bit hit or miss, some were better than others. My favourites were yours and ToruFirst (I don't remember which weekday it was, but it was the FWB to lovers story). Some of the others had potential but didn't manage to fully blossom within the format. I kind of felt like the whole series was trying out a bunch of new talents to see how they did, but with a few established, better known pairings (or triplings) mixed in to pull in audiences. And then they put it on AIS Play, which wasn't even accessible to people outside of Thailand, it was such a weird choice.

I'll admit I haven't watched Y-Destiny yet.
Mostly because 7 couples is a LOT.
AIS play also was an issue, but if you know inter fans, you know we can get "creative" when it seems content is kept from us (many of us are even willing to pay for it, as you can tell from all the people who have Viki pass, iQIYI VIP, youtube memberships, GagaOOLala VIP subscriptions, etc.)

I really liked the story Y-destiny you were in. Like you said, it was different to anything we've seen in BLs at that time or since. I also thought it was such a sweet story, with Yoon's character being so understanding of Talay's grief. It was definitely my favourite story of the 7.
On the topic on the "deleted" scene I definitely remember your character giving Talay's the okay to move on and kiss Pun. I thought it was neat but kinda funny. I remember not being sure if Talay's char saw or heard you tho, but I def had mad respect for you three rocking a trouple. I agree I don't think I've seen it done by anyone else bc any actors that get re-paired just seem to forget their previous partners. Which isn't to assume they really do they just are probably advised to not mention him and instead to keep selling their new pairing

I enjoyed Y-Destiny, especially the Thursday couple story of Thurs and Pao. I agree with you that there were too little episodes for each couple. However, I think it was a great pioneer in compilation BLs (BLs with a shit ton of couples). it showed off its advantages (shuffling past potentially bad stories quicker, more cute guys, more 'fin', etc) but also its disadvantages. And because of that, many shows I think has learned from this. Now we potentially get one of the better compilation BLs in awhile, We Are, so ya, the industry is improving per se!

YYY was chaotic irIelavant fun. When it came out, some people said it wasn't for them, but I do recommend it. I saw Y-Destiny as well and really enjoyed it. I agree it would have been better if the stories had more time, but maybe two episodes each was all they could afford since funding BL shows is always an issue. When I saw the promos for the series, I thought we were going to get a poly story rather than a ghost story. 🤣I think Y-Destiny probably got more viewers outside of Thailand since we didn't have the same limitations when it was available. I saw it on TH-cam, but I don't remember having any problems with it cutting off after it started. Having said that, one reason why it might not have done as well as other shows was because it aired during the lockdown. There were so many Thai shows, not to mention ones from Korea, Taiwan, and the Philippines, that the viewers could choose from.

i feel like for international fans was hard to find a place to watch it + with good subtitles, i speak thai but my other friends that watch it didn't and they say every place had TERRIBLE subtitles in english, like you couldn't understand what was going on most of the time.
for me, as i said, it has been my safe place since then, also talking about most of the actors of here. my personal favorite couple (like as their story, chemistry and everything) was first and toru (they are also the ones i follow most right now, appart from you and talay of course).

As a long-time bl fan, I really appreciate when you reminisce about your previous jobs, especially since I started watching bl around the time when you started working in the industry. I have always felt like Y Destiny tied together the two couples perfectly and absolutely strengthened the viewers' connection to both PerthLay and YoonTalay. But I wish it was promoted differently for sure. That show made me cry in the best way. But I kind of mostly watched for your story. There was a lot going on in it ahaha. You being around in the last episode did feel like closure in a way; watching over his happiness. It was cute!

Perth, I've been following your career since My Engineer, and I definitely watched your episodes of Y Destiny. In fact, the only two stories I watched were MaxMat's and yours. I had to sneakily watch them at work during the short window they were available on TH-cam (I'm in the USA). Accessibility was definitely an issue for inter fans. On another note I really loved YYY. That show was insane. I liked the connection that was built between you, Talay and Yoon and enjoyed your TH-cam vlogs together. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I love these kind of videos!
For what you said about making it hard to watch. It also depends on the promotion, for example, KinnPorsche was hard to watch, iqiyi is not available in a lot of countries, is not cheap, the eng subtitles where bad and subtitles in other languages were lacking, but the series became so big because it had really good pre realese pomotion and made people want to watch. Also it helped create a fanbase and thanks to that fanbase a lot of fans could watch it for free with subtitles in their languages thanks to piracy (not saying to support piracy but it's inevitable). So easy access is good but promotion is everything.
Y-destiny was a legend tbh
When it comes to the PerthTalayYoon triad/throuple, I think it can be done now too with other pairings. Especially since I have started to see some…not a lot but some integration of throuples starting to be seen in BL as of late, but it was also done in Three Will Be Free. I think that it’s also cause that’s when BL was still relatively new. Even for the fact probably that toxic shipping was common at the time, despite it happening now still. There could of been fandom wars between PerthTalay and YoonTalay fans, and it still happens now with other pairings unfortunately. So I think having PerthTalayYoon was a good idea to break the tension between fandoms in not arguing which pairing was better.
Loved what you said about YYY and I couldn't agree more! This show was such a hilarious mess but it was lighthearted and nice! The characters had some sweetness to them and overall I really enjoyed that it was one house filled with freaks, it made everything so wholesome in a way
I liked this show, when I watcched the parts that you were in I was in tears. Like, not just sobbing, I CRIED. For the whole episode. Still enjoyed it.
Honestly people need to separate the character and the actors/actresses (and I'm not talking only about bl)

It was really interesting to get a peek behind the curtain and hear about your experience filming, preparing, and reflecting on Y-Destiny. I remember how among my online friends I was one of the few who quite liked/supported the drama (for varying reasons).
Let me tell you, as an international fan, it was a STRUGGLE to watch it. I had to rearrange my day just to catch it or, unfortunately, watch reuploads.
Y-Destiny was an interesting experiment to me. To this day-other than 7 Project-I don't think I've seen a drama try to tackle so many couples' stories. 7 was especially unheard of for me at the time of it's release.
Your episodes/throuple was actually in second place for my favorite. I found the story very complex, particularly how it touched on/discussed respecting and saving that empty space for your lover's lost partner. How it balanced both holding on and letting go. That it isn't all or nothing.
Despite its flaws and couples I felt could have used better direction/a stronger story and the pain that it was to try to watch it, as a whole, I ended up rating it highly.

I did watch it. Some of the stories were fun, but yeah they were too short for me to really be invested in any of them.
I always wanted to watch the series , especially when it was on the air . You hit the nail on the head though: the lack of accessibility is what prevented me from supporting the series and the actors . And it was a shame because I was so intrigued by it. The whole days of the week and the color coded characters concept . Wish it was broadcasted differently .. This reminded me I need to find a way to see it .

I’m one of the people who watched Y-Destiny while it was airing and while it was a bit hard to access, I managed to watch all the episodes in that limited time on yt and I enjoyed it from start to finish, I liked all the gimmicks and I was prepared for each couple to have only two episodes so it wasn’t disappointing, it was different and fun to watch. I love Cheewin as a director, his series are really unique and visually stunning. I can see how much he cares about his work. I really liked how we got to see you, Talay and Yoon in one show, because I had watched both My Engineer and YYY and I liked them a lot, so it was like the cherry on top to see the three of you together, even though it was painful watching your character die :’) I’ve personally never seen anyone say anything negative about Talay having two ships at the same time, and I didn’t think much of it, outside the fact that it was unusual, but exciting! So I was surprised to hear you say that it wasn’t ideal, but I can see why now. Overall, it’s definitely a series I recommend, it’s fun and a series with many different stories and characters has its charm, but I don’t know where it is available to watch for international fans as of now 🤔
What was disappointing is that after Y-Destiny, which introduced many new actors, I was expecting for some of them to get their own full length series, but that never happened 😔

I really enjoyed Y-Destiny! There were a few of us that I know of watching it as it aired. Some of the couples from that show are still some of my favorites. I really wished your story line had more episodes because I love stories where someone learns to love again after losing love. It's always very heartwarming. I would have loved for that story to be more fleshed out.
Cheewin did great job with YYY and Y destiny, at that time I missed the Comedy BL genre (Make It Right the series era). Really enjoyed it but it didn't reached internationally as it did lack subs then and Cheewin isn't really good with English but that's okay! 😊 That Y destiny project when it was introduced I was so excited as the characters were named by days 😄 but seriously I had to let out some tears when it came to Masuk story. 😭 LINETV shouldn't have shut down 😢 it was my lifesaver of Thai BL series.

I love, love, love Y Destiny, Perth!!!! I've watched it a couple of times and it is where I discovered some of my favorite "BL" actors, you included!! 😊😊 Besides you, one of my absolute delights to watch is Nat! That little fellow is so dang cute, I just want to mother him until the world ends! But seriously, Y Destiny is a good show - I think most of the stories were definitely at least decent, if not down right good and interesting. It is a shame that those stories couldn't be fleshed out and perhaps developed into even better scripts, but for what they were and for the time frame the series was made in, they are good. There was first love lost, love betrayed, jealousy, envy, pride; a little supernatural intervention, a great deal of earthly pleasure, and 7 happy endings... in my book, that all equals a job well done 😉😉😊😊😊

personally i thought some stories/episodes were a lot better than others so i skipped around a lot. and your storyline was by far the best but like you said didn’t have enough time to flesh it out so i wasn’t that connected to yoon’s character in the end bc we really didn’t get much of him with talay’s character from what i remember

I actually enjoyed a lot of the stories in YDestiny. Some of them would have been great as longer series though I agree. Also, between this video and the recent magazine photoshoot I'm reminded how much I enjoyed the PerthLay chemistry~~ I would love it if you two could do a show together again some day!

Yes. Y-Destiny has cool pairs and nice stories to enjoy. My personal favorite was yours and the one with MaxNat, but you’re right. It had many disadvantages like the number of episodes and the platforms to watch it. If there’s something that gets international fandoms angry is the many restrictions with those platforms. As I recall, international fans started to almost outnumber Thai fans back in those days, yet with the lack of subtitles and location/payments restrictions, Y-Destiny (and many other projects) lost good amount of viewers.
I feel like Y-Destiny came out around the same time as Close Friend Season 1, which was also an anthology of short stories like Y-Destiny. And in the case of Close Friend it felt like they were using Season 1 as a test to see which of the ships people liked, which were then continued into a more long form format in Season 2.

I had to run back to my MDL page and check, but within my notes, each of the 2 episode plotlines had their own individual ratings which I then just averaged out. I loved some of the storylines more than others. I felt like it struggled to paint a full picture with their rush to the end on each (with the 2 episode plotlines, it makes sense). This was such a treat though. I appreciated hearing what it felt like from your own perspective during the 2 ongoing ship situation (?) for lack of a better word. I did watched it and I think there were some really good stories and some that could be better, but over all it was a nice experience following all the different stories. Without knowing the background of how it happened, I actually thought it was really clever to take advantage of Talay having 2 ongoing ships at the time and put you 3 together in the same story.
