I’ve had my 300 Weatherby since the 80’s. It has performed flawlessly, the last harvest was a bison: Weatherby Select Plus 200 gr Accubond, 165 yards, bullet retrieved from the spine just below the skull. Retained weight 125.5 gr. Dropped like an anvil.

I have a 300 wby and it's made in Germany and i got it at wby shop in south gate CA in 1977 for 600 dollars and I love it ❤️❤️❤️it is beautiful looking 👍👍👍👍💰💰💰💯
I was not looking for a 300 Weatherby when fate deliver one to me. It is the all around best round ever. I have other choices in my gun safe, but they gather dust. At 13 my son killed his first Antelope with it. I do shoot 1 bullet, the Nosler 200 Grain Accubond, of which I have about 500 in inventory.

It’s a go to cartridge, never disappoints.
My first buck was taken with a 300 weatherby. I was 13 years old. My parents took me to Walmart for my 10th or 11th birthday to pick up my first rifle. I still have it and it’s a weatherby vanguard. I had to be like my dad. Every time we would visit my uncles at their camps, they would always talk about my dads 300 weatherby and they would all ask to see a cartridge and they would all wince and talk about how much it must hurt to fire it. My fathers 300 weatherby is a Winchester model 70. We haven’t hunted with our 300s for a few years as we can’t either find the ammo or afford to shoot what we rarely find for sale. 180 grain core lokts have always been the best medicine. Thank you Weatherby for giving us the bragging rights at camp and providing one deadly caliber for elk and mulies!

And the 7mm Weatherby was decades ahead of the 7mm Remington, however it's a rare hunter that's heard of the 7mm Weatherby....
Nooo, I'd say some people have heard of it. The only reason they haven't heard of it, is because it's just not popular. The bad thing about the 7mm Weatherby, is it originally came out with a 1/12 twist. The 7mm Rem Mag came out with 1/9.25 twist which allowed for 160+ and 175 grain bullets to be shot.
The two 7mm mags have about the same case capacity, but the Weatherby has a lot more freebore. That's why, for the most part, it beats the Remington.
Now you take a 270 Weatherby, which if I remember correctly, is the same case. Put a 26-28" light varmint 1/8 twist barrel on it. Then load the heavier 6.8 bullets in it or the 160 grain partion, and you will have something there!

7mm Weatherby has approx 4 or 5 grains more powder capacity than the 7mm Rem mag (depending on brass manufacturer). This, combined with the longer free bore gives the Wby about a 200 fps edge in velocity. While the Wby is less popular, it is a much better cartridge as far as velocity, energy and trajectory are concerned.
In 1978 I was the department manager of the gun, fishing and camping departments of a sporting goods store in New Orleans. I read that year’s issue of the Weatherby catalog cover to cover…totally impressed. Toward the back of the book they had an article that compared identical bullets from a 30-06 and a 300 Weatherby. Side by side photographs showed a gallon water container flipping over after it was hit b the 30-06 and the same size water container exploding when it was hit by the 300 Weatherby. That sold me.
Great video guys!!! My dad, Jimmy, just ordered (Sept 20th) a Vanguard in 300 Wby from you guy's custom shop!!! I gave him the money so he could order it and can't wait to see his face when it arrives at our FFL dealer. I've had a Vanguard, brought from a local gun shop about 15 years and LOVE IT!!! I've taken so much game with mine!!!
I loaded up 50 150 GR SST 's for my 300 for deer season the other day.
I had a 300 Weatherby Mk V; loved that gun. Got drunk up in Alaska one night and traded it to a guy for his wife; wish to hell Id kept the rifle

I love the 300 Weatherby. It is accurate, a breeze to reload for (because I build exact loads) and no animal I've hit with a bullet from the big 300 has gone more than five steps and then into the dirt hotel.
I got tired of tracking game, so I moved up to a 300 Weatherby Magnum. Haven’t tracked a wounded animal ever since. They drop in their tracks. Never seen one take over 5 steps.

Nice video. Been using a Mark-V WBY.300 for 36 yrs now. It's the synthetic stock model which has morphed into what is now the Weathermark I think. It's been a great rifle from Michigan whitetail, to Wyoming Elk. Years ago met some guys heading to Kodiak to hunt bear. One guy was using a WBY .340 if memory serves me.
I’ve been using the 168gr Barnes TTSX. It’s fast and expands reliably out to as far as I have any business shooting. They retain nearly 100% of their weight, so they end up heavier than a lead core 180gr bullet and most 200gr bullets.
The greatest cartridge ever invented the .300 weatherby!!

I had a 300 Wby Hush and unfortunately had to get rid of it. I’d have another one. Pretty stout recoil but shot great groups despite being a little more than what I was used to.
would love you see a round like the federal fusion 180g. a slightly less expensive bonded bullet.
You guys need to bring Gavin from Gavintube over to get him to stop worrying about recoil.
All my weatherby shoot .50 inch groups all day at 100 the only punch that i feel without a brake is the 378 weatherby wallop
30-378 weatherby 31.5 barrel 250 gr a tip i can get going 3220 fps avg so yes it does go super fast also much respect on the 378 i love the 30-378, 338-378 weatherby magnums im upset they banned the 460 weatherby in canada the only caliber and rifle allowed to whale hunt as i love the 378 for grizz with a 454 casul on the chest
Hi guys Roy was definitely on to something I took an elk last year with the 338 win Meg about a 2600' per 2nd velocity I don't 250 grain round This year I used my new 340 weather be with a 200 grain round loaded to 3000' per 2nd Terminal performance was 10 times as greater with the 200 grain Nosler e tip 350 to 400' per 2nd is everything

I am a fan of 300 weatherby even tho i prefer 30-378 weatherby ❤ for elr hunting or 378 weatherby for grizzly with a big muzzle brake
It's a shame that the grandson now running the company didn't know the release dates of his cartridges. The 300 weatherby magnum was released in 1944 by the way. The 300 Winchester magnum wasn't released until 1963. Lol
The 150 GR SST HORNADY IS A good bullet for deer in the 300.
Weatherby, have you considered extending your legacy with offerings for the less affluent? Or is it keep it small, expensive, and exclusive?
My 300wby gutted a mule deer... I shot it one inch behind the shoulder clean past through through the other side... But the pressures it caused inside the deers body caused the stomach to blow open and its guts literally fell out... I got a good pic of it 😅 surprisingly not much meat damage since I didn't hit a shoulder. 180gr barnes tsx @3250 fps

The biggest complaint I hear about the 300 Weatherby is the price of the ammunition. If you are going on an elk hunt either guided or DIY your going to spend $2000 to $7000. I don’t think the price of 300 ammunition is going to stop the hunt. I shoot the 180 gr partitions. My hunting buddy shoot the same round. We have taken elk, moose, mule deer and caribou. Did not loose one animal. We take a backup rifle he takes a 7 Weatherby Mag and I take a 300 win. If you want to shoot reliable guns and ammo get the Weatherby. I don’t care what caliber 7mm, 300, 340 … you can’t go wrong.
I can get reasonably priced ammo even during the pandemic. I bought a few cases of discontinued ammo at ~$3/round. Premium ammo is expensive, but like you said, its not a poor man’s game.
My question Adam is which caliber is his favorite
I use a Limbsaver at the bench, but It's only one shot in the feild ! Come on !
Did Adam say the 30 Nosler beats the 300 Wby? Cause from what I've seen is its a bit behind the 300
In a hunting rifle on game you are correct. In a long range rifle shooting targets over 1000 yds then maybe.
Now do 6.5 - 300 weatherby
I have s tikka T3x in a bull barrel 6.5x55.
It's too bad weatherby it does not make a 6.5 WBY RPM for my rifle. I prefer the tikka action, but why should I not be able to rebarrel my gun to a WBY barrel to make a sheep hunting rifle also capable to use for grizzly defense if necessary.
I believe Weatherby should not only make their rifles but also barrels that can be put on any rifle. Specificaly for people that are interested in semi customizing a rifle they might already have to be able to try their papriatary rounds of interest. People like the ability of choice & sometimes to mix and match.
Similar to how Boyd's stocks, cornered the market on useful & affordable aftermarket stocks.
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to rebarrel any rifle to an affordable WBY barrel.
Eg. If weatherby made a 35 whelen barrels for remington 7600's or Browning lever action 30-06's. Grandchildren would eventually rebarrel their dad's or grandfather's hand me down 30-06 to a Weatherby barrel.
Or to any number of the weatherby cartridges assuming that their actions can handle it.
That would ultimately be the only decider as to which rifles could end up capable of being rebarreled to a WBY cartridge.
But I guess if it doesn't exist than I'll go for a ss carbon wrapped 280 ackley improved.
Since that is the only feasible alternative to a 6.5 RPM for my tikka? No?
I do really like the 300 Weatherby. Put a 225 gr eldm in it and oh my! A 200 gr Partion and again WOW! Or Accubonds.
But, if I had to chose between the 300 Weatherby or the 300 PRC, It would depend on the deal, cause I'd really take ether But, I'd want to customize them a bit.

But I do believe, if the rifle and chamber are built correctly, the Weatherby will out perform the PRC. But the PRC is a very darn good (great) cartridge and very hard to bet.
300 prc is a way better option
I think that depends on the intended use. There’s nothing 300 PRC can do better in a hunting rifle on game.
It’s not a Weatherby! Never forget the guy that invented the wheel. It’s the nostalgia! Classy.
