    The hidden gem of Albania
Përmet has everything except the sea!
    Llixhat e Bënjës :
A large Ottoman bridge arks over a winding stretch of sparkling blue-green water. Built back in the Middle Ages, it has been letting people cross the sulfur rich river since the days of the Ottoman Empire.
Warm water rushes beneath it, providing a relaxing treat for those who visit.
Near the bridge, you’ll find the the Benja Thermal Baths, born from the geothermal waters near Përmet, Albania. The heated water flows down the river unless it gets diverted into one of the several human-made pools.
The area surrounding the bridge and the hot springs is absolutely stunning. Walking atop the stone overpass is a great way to soak in the views. The river cuts through the beautiful Langarica canyon, backdropped by distant mountains that stretch toward the sky.
Small waterfalls rush and ripple along some parts of the river. It’s a perfect spot to camp!
Just as much of a hidden gem is the amazing centre of Përmet itself.
It is the greenest and the cleanest town in Albania, also known as the “city of roses.” The small town of Permet is famous for its folk music and renowned clarinetist Laver Bariu, literature personalities, and incredibe organic cooking, especially sweets, the so called ‘gliko’, or preserves.
You will be served amazing wine (mostly homemade) and some interesting varieties of Raki too.
A great thing to do in Permet is to climb the big rock , it’s very near to the centre of the town, it’s called the rock of town looking over the town and Vjosa river. This is the point of observation of the town.
There is a famous Spa very near to Permet, in Bënja, you may take a taxi or even walk if you want. (We rented electric bikes from Keli Guesthouse) just 10 euro for the entire day.
Ask around for directions, the location is south of Permet. The hot springs are situated in a scenic setting with tons of mind blowing views.

I was yesterday in Bënja Thermal Waters and then headed to Lengarica Canyon for several kilometers. It's amazing there. I see you didn't go any further to the canyon. You've missed all that beauty. There were lots of tourists there exploring the canyon from Germany, France, Austria, Netherlands, Russia etc.

Sorry but the bridge does not belong to the Ottoman era but to the Illyrian-Roman era. Everything that is ancient in Albania has its roots in the llyric culture. For those who do not know, Illyria gave the Roman Empire 30 emperors and from 200 BC to the end of the Roman Empire it was dominated by the Illyrians who are the ancestors of today's Albanians.
