I can describe this scent with one word: “Powerfull” . As a 27y old I LOVE this fragrance, sure it smells more mature but don’t let that stop you from trying or even buying this (by that definition almost all of my fragrances are “mature” and yet I wear them). The opening can be challenging for sure but give it a chance. Also that Amouage signature frankincense is in here. The only fragrance alongside The Moon that i can say without a doubt it lasts 24hrs on my skin and you get 100ml of it, if you spray it like a normal person one bottle will last you for a very, VERY long time.
I love it so much I just spray it on in and cooler temperatures I didn't know what to think at first but now it's my absolute favorite and I will use my full bottle
@@jasonthul Herod is a lot easier to wear and more versatile. I feel it’s more essential and I’d use it more. That being said, if I had enough dumb reach winter scents royal tobacco is really nice for a different kind of vibe. I’m wearing Herod rn lol
Robes08 puts it nicely by describing how the fragrance takes you on a journey from the green leaf being harvested from the plant, to a cigar being rolled, to finally smoking it. I also see this, with the green, basil and licorice opening giving way to rich tobacco leaf, before the smoke fully develops. All the while with smoky frankincense in the background. It does take a little time to understand and appreciate, like a number of fragrances from Amouage, and you need to spend time with them. I love Royal Tobacco and think it's a masterpiece. Blows all other tobacco scents out of the water
That’s a great way to put it! I’m glad I gave it a chance. I’ve learned things I like right away become boring so I tend to give things more of a chance if a lot of people enjoy them. I definitely get that fresh tobacco leaf it smells like nature in a way. I love that aspect of it. And a lot of other tobacco scents are ‘vanilla’ compared to this one royal tobacco is grown and a statement.
Thanks for sharing your take on Royal Tobacco. I was quite indiferent to the scent, but eventually fell in love to the point I couldn't wait to get a bottle. I do not find it as versatile as King Blue (which I wear to sleep), I feel like this RT is suitable for a very confident grown-up man, mature, elegant, sexy, but not pretentious at the same time.
PS: if I sniffed up close stuff like this, Interlude, or Overture, I doubt I'd ever get to like them 😅 But yeah, I wear my perfumes on the sides of my neck, and I get to enjoy them just fine.
Imho it smells great, but I did get some olfactory fatigue a few hours into wearing it. It's really strong, stays on you for a really long time and doesn't let up
I have a funny story about this one. Big tobacco fan, and I bought a 2ml sample and it wowed me. Kept on smelling it over the course of a few months, and one day decided to spray it on skin. This one is one where for whatever reason, once I wore it on skin , new facets of the scent appeared , and in particular a very green , spicy , cilantro note came out and honestly started to disgust me. I loved the way it smelled just smelling the decant, but on skin it transformed into something I couldn’t stand to wear.
I just bought this , I have all the library collection i thought silver oud was challenging at first, but now I love it. i feel i will learn to love royal tobacco in the same way. These are not for everyone, very niche !
It’s definitely in my top 4 from the house along with King Blue, Interlude Black Iris, and Reflection. I prefer Royal Tobacco to Jubilation XXV and Journey Man which would be my runner ups.
Have you smelled the 2022 batch? The new ones are heavy on anise/licorice and the tobacco is less prominent than it used to be. I think you would also like the opening more. It’s not as spice-heavy. It’s a shame that even Amouage are reformulating their frags beyong recognition.
It’s really funny you mention that I got two decants one a while ago in 2023 and one recently. I thought I was adapting to the tobacco aspect and getting more of the fresh green licorice aspects just from wearing it a lot. My wife reviewed the older one I wish I still had it to side by side gave the rest to a friend when I got a 10ml.
@ From what I understand, the 2023 batches were already reformulated into this spicy/sweet bomb. You’re spot on with the green licorice in the opening, it’s a curious mix of spices. Cecile has done the same thing with Outlands, but that one also has lemon so it’s not as aggresive.
I got a decant of this and I couldn't get past the cumin spice in it. I'm a chef by trade and it just reminded me of a curry that I would make. I must say it is VERY STRONG. I tried to scrub it off my arm with soap but I couldn't get it off.
This fragrance is above average. It’s culinary spicy 🌶️ sweet & tangy too. It’s for suits and cigar lounges to me. Very mature gentlemen vibes. I can appreciate it though as an art form. Not a fan.
Royal Tobacco is a real tobacco fragrance. I struggle detecting the note of tobacco like to me Herod and Naxos are sweet scents I don’t think cigar. I maybe nose blind to the note somewhat I don’t really think tobacco when I smell Carlisle either. That being said, I CLEARLY pickup the tobacco in the Amouage lol.
Tobacolor is INCREDBILE but I would say that Royal Tobacco nudges it out slightly with its extra character and layers. That being said I think that i could wear Tobacolor everyday though. Dior as a designer house created something special
I’m 44yr old, usually dress casually, sense of humor, but deep thinker and old-fashioned. Also don’t smoke whatsoever, I’m asthmatic in fact. Is this scent for me?
It’s pretty serious and restrictive to around Christmas time to me. It could be for you but it feels less like a signature scent and more of a special occasion one in a bigger rotation for me. When I think casual and mature I think more of Creeds lineup of Royal Oud, Green Irish Tweed, Viking, and Bois du Portugal. IMO Creed does the best casual mature fragrances. But it’s more about how it makes you feel I don’t think people around you are going to think royal tobacco is too serious or formal that’s just how I feel when I wear it.
@@CgScents Thank you very much. Really appreciate that insightful commentary, helps me out I think.I like the scent to start, but your perspective is something new to consider. Keep it up!
I really didn’t like it until I wore it out a few times. Also the colder weather I think helped. It grew on me for sure at first I would have given it a 3 lol it was unwearable mostly because the opening was overwhelming. Now I have a 10ml decant which with the performance this has is basically a bottle.
Your channel and ‘Seldomly Often’ are the best fragrance channels ever. Thank you.
Best two definitely 💯
Word!
Very true .
Add AC smells good and Ramsey to this list as well .

Been meaning to try this one. Just picked up a French Defense tester for way under retail. Big win
I keep hearing good things about French defense it’s on my list
I love it so much I just spray it on in and cooler temperatures I didn't know what to think at first but now it's my absolute favorite and I will use my full bottle
Still haven’t tried this one yet .
Thanks 4 the review 🙌
It’s worth trying for sure. Love it or not it won’t be a waste of time.
My signature scent
Great breakdown! I recently tried Herod and loved it. Might sample this one as well, though, you have me leaning toward Herod overall.

@@CgScents Nice. I'll sample it, but probably not before I pick up a full bottle of Herod. Thanks!

around 26 notes, its 10/10

I give this one a perfect 10. I had to get a bottle of it. I swore off purchasing more perfumes, but this one made me break that no buy streak.
It’s growing on me more and more I got a 10ml decant after going through a 5ml. I could see this becoming a must buy for me at some point.

its 10/10- excellent perfume
My favourite Amouage😊

My #1 but like you, when i first smelt it, it was a bit overpowering. Dont spray on then take a big whiff up close! Give it a few minutes 😎
I would like to see you review the oud satin mood by MFK and Blue talisman by EX NIHILO 😊
This one, Bracken Man, Overture, Enclave are for grown men and gentlemen
Royal tobacco is so grown 😅 I felt that true masculine adult energy from it for sure. Laid back suit and tie with a cigar vibe.
@ that’s what real deal with that fragrance
This fragrance is above average. It’s culinary spicy 🌶️ sweet & tangy too. It’s for suits and cigar lounges to me. Very mature gentlemen vibes. I can appreciate it though as an art form. Not a fan.
i cant imagine wearing this one. it is so concentrated. it's just for artistic wearing purposes. i have a decant and do not need a full bottle.
This and Dior's tobacolor are my two favourite tobaccos of all time, such a pity they are sooo expensive

REEEEE i fucking love royal tobacco dude, even instantly after the fluid leaves the bottle. Im absolutely getting a bottle of this.
I’m wearing this today!

❤❤❤❤❤
The incense just makes this smell too much like burned wood. This works best in cold weather of course.
