Just got my MacBook Air 15'' last week. Upgraded the RAM to 16GB and SSD to 512GB, per recommended by many TH-camrs. It is my first MacBook, and I'm still figuring it out coming from a lifetime Windows user. It has been a smooth transition so far. It's fast, snappy and as a giant of a man, 15'' is just the perfect size for me. I can barely feel the weight in my backpack whenever I'm on the go. The battery life is insanely good. Graphic is amazing. It's a all-rounder laptop for general user.
@@chackojegan6868 I am having a MBA M2 13 16GB and 256SSD for about 8Months now. I have charged it maybe 15 times. Certainly not more than that. I am not getting used to MacOS. It is overly complicated. For instance in a world of plug and pray I need to consume a lot of youtube to get work arounds: - Snapping desktop function is brilliant on Win11. I need a 3rd party app on a Mac and it is not the windows experience. - Adding an external SSD. What did I need to do again? So many steps and reboots on Mac OS. - I always need to connect to my nas manually on MacOS. Why is that?
I have the Midnight blue color and I think it's the best color Apple has ever created. I maxed out the RAM to 24GB and gave it a 1TB of storage. As a software developer it can do everything that I need, providing a large high quality display, great speakers, and the most comfortable (low and spacious palm rest) typing deck. The travel weight is best-in-class, thanks to the newly reduced 70W power adapter. I took it on a trip to Europe and (unlike my 16 inch MacBook Pro) could barely feel it in backpack. For my needs ... it is perfect.
I have it for over 5+ months now close to a year and it’s an absolute beast! I only maxed out the RAM to 24gb ram with 256gb SSD cause i don’t really see a difference with the speeds and I always don’t mind the waiting on the downloads anyway since I’m doing something else to keep me busy. Overall, I’m very satisfied with it! I’ve had my 15” for about a month. It’s definitely my favorite laptop. I use both windows and Mac. After using Windows for work and home for the last year I am really enjoying the MacOS experience. I don’t need anything crazy powerful for what I do so the thin form factor and large screen are more important. I still use a Windows laptop for work, but I can throw this in my bag as well and it is so light I barely notice the weight difference. That’s a very good question. The Pro Display is better but I find it hard to believe you’d be disappointed with the one on the new Air. Also, I can’t imagine they’ll bring it to the Air next year because (like any company) Apple will want to keep the product lines separated to justify the higher price. Hope that helps

I love my Starlight M2 MBA for more everyday stuff 🥰 Didn’t think I would like a bigger laptop since I never had anything larger than 13” but that extra screen real estate is sweet. I have a Mac Mini with upgraded RAM for my video and media work since I’m a bit nervous to run heavy apps for that with my Air, M2 or not.
That starlight is 👩🍳💋. Sounds like you have a nice setup with the mini and the air. I wonder if you’d notice a difference running those apps on the Air. Thank you for sharing your experience. I appreciate you for being part of the channel!
@@TechGearTalk Running them, maybe not because the M1 and M2s are beasts 🤯 💪💪💪 but doing that long term, I do fear I’d stress out the Air so I’m playing it safe and keeping pro tasks on a more pro configuration 😆 I agree 100% that the MBA will fit most people’s needs as their sole computer!

As a student with a m1 13 MacBook Pro. Is there any advantage to upgrading to an m2 or m3 air 15inch? My thought process was wanting a bigger screen for more real estate, using multiple documents when writing papers. I don’t game, but also wouldn’t mind light video editing.
I’m in my first semester of graphic design on college and I’m not sure what MacBook should I get, I been thinking of the MacBook Air m2 16GB 512SSD or the MacBook Pro m2 16GB 512SSD, I don’t really know if there’s a big difference in performance that I should keep in mind since I don’t really know a lot about computers but for what I’ve seen I think that either of the two could work for me but I’m not sure wich one and I don’t want to regret my decision. Any suggestions??
Hey, if your work is very demanding and you do it for a long stretch like more than an hour everyday, and you multitask while doing your work, I will definitely suggest you to go for the pro. You’ll get a more consistent output with the pro because of active cooling(fans). Conclusion: it depends on the type of work that you do.

No MacBook uses face-id or touch-id to log into. The only time touch-id works is if you are in sleep mode or exiting a screen saver. It is a shame, and you are totally right in questioning this, but the same goes for an iPhone, it needs the pin code to login right after a reboot. I suppose it has something to do with the TPM or "security enclave". Windows Hello is indeed a much more advanced solution, as it can still use a code if the Hello function does not work.
Yes - and I would be ok with using a password the first time - same with my android tablets for example. But then I’d like the choice. Appreciate you watching!!
I have the MacBook M3 Pro, but I think I’m gonna pick up this M3 MacBook Air as well because I’m getting into real estate soon and I need something I can carry around
i dont understand why the notch is bothering people for me i barely notice it. it would really be nice if there was face id then i would love it even more
I'm definitely going to look into getting a MacBook Air 15".(M2 or M3) I only need it for web browsing, e-mail, streaming. For streaming movies/series which would you all recommend, Mac Book Air 15" or Mac Book Pro 14"????? Would the one inch bigger screen on the air make that much difference in viewing ?
Sorry, but I have a question. I just buy a MacBook this weekend. Now, I am wondering if I choose the correct MacBook; I buy 512GB SSD, and 8GB Unifed Memory. I will use it only for college stuff, my plan is to study Econ. Do you think 8GB of memory is okay, or 16GB of memory is better for me? Thank you so much
Thank you so much. Considering an air in the nearish future and have a few concerns in a way. Do they last as long as the pros? I know that must sound strange, but.... ive always had pros and just think of them as more substantial or able tp last longer as a machine ? Im not sure how to describe it. I need it to last a long time and don't see myself needing to purchasing another mac or computer at all after this next one (health reasons)
Thank you so much for watching. My Air (since the M1) have been great. I would expect them to continue to perform well for a long time. The Pro models are indeed more my substantial - even just in terms of build quality. But it’s a matter of whether that’s something you need. I don’t see any reason why the Air wouldn’t last 5-7 years. I’m not sure what you use but for - but assume if it was something heavy, you’d mention it. I’d upgrade the unified memory to 16GB and make sure you have enough storage. Hope that helps and thinking good thoughts for you 🙏🏻
i’ve been using a base model 2014 macbook air since well, 2014 😂. I really have only ever used it for internet stuff, streaming services, youtube, zoom calls and to play the sims 4 haha. it’s definitely a little slow in its old age. but it runs big sur fine and I haven’t had any crazy issues. I will say I did just buy the 15” m2 which is why i’m watching this video. i’m picking it up tomorrow, im so excited. I honestly think I could get a couple more years out of my 2014 but I really just wanted to upgrade to something nicer and more modern that isn’t so slow. I 100000% think they can last as long as any other model in my own experience/use.
You might be better off with this year's mba 15 inch M3 mainly because of the speed difference between the SSDs, soeicifcally between the 256GB and 512GB variant on the M2s. This year the 256GB model is just as fast as the 512GB model
Space gray and starlight are also on sale. The 14” M3 pro MBP 18gb ram and 512gb ssd is sometimes on sale for $1800. That’s $300 more for MAYBE a better computer.
I've just bought one and honestly, it's one of the best MacBooks I've owned. I previously had a 2019 MBP i9 top of the range model, but this beats it easily performance wise. The keyboard is like the old days, not clicky with short travel. It feels good to type on it. The lightness is a real game changer and the battery life is phenomenal. I only charge every few days. It runs Fusion360 perfectly for me and remains cool all the time. I saw the temps go up to 50c for a short while, but mostly runs around 35c. The big, big difference between this and a MBP is the price. The Pro is much, much more expensive. I'd prefer to keep this and know that in a few years time I won't have lost much money. My MBP has lost me around $1000 in 3 years.
I have not found them to be any less durable than other similar displays. The build quality is very nice. The MBP display is a bit more solid if that’s a priority for you.

One thing i would add , please liaten the speakers in real they are way better than any video can do justice , it feels like you are listening to a good bose speaker its that good

I have the base model 15" air , it's so good it's breeze to work on , it's my first Mac I never had any apple products, bro i m so tempted to buy an iPhone it's so lovely never hangs no blue screens , no dics dumps i really think it may last me a good 5 to 7 years , this the best purchase I have ever made
The biggest advantage of the MacBook Air 15" is that it is the largest laptop among fanless laptops. I'm using the iPad mini5 + iPhone 13 mini + MacBook Air 15" + PS5 combination, and the purpose of the purchase was to completely transfer my personal digital experience to iCloud, and I'm disappointed with the ridiculously soaring prices and hot temperatures of the x86-PC. In fact, the MacBook Air 15" (16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) + PS5 is cheaper than the Intel + Nvidia Gaming PC. My first MacBook Air 15" I've used since August last year is just a matter of adaptation and I don't even need a mouse. I think it's the most reasonable choice if you're a documentary user, use an iPhone, have no program that doesn't work from work to MAC, and don't like hot, power consuming x86 and windows.
I’m not a heavy user so I went with base model Air. The fan on my HP started driving me crazy. Costco has M1 on sale for $750, so I went with that. I just missed the M2 15” Air on sale for $1000 by two days. Sure enough the 15” is on sale for $1000 again. Missed out on that one. 🫤

Apple M3 Pro chip with 12‑core CPU, 18‑core GPU and 16‑core Neural Engine
36GB unified memory
1TB SSD storage
You got an amazing laptop! CONGRATS!
The M3 variants of the MBA have just came out. Mind if you can do a comparison between this and the M3 model, thanks
Working on it over the next few days. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and add a suggestion !
I want to use the laptop in the video with 16gb ram and 1tb storage for Music recording/editing but I’m not sure if that would be good enough. Should I opt for a pro?
I just ordered for those reasons with those specs.
@@TylerAllenmichael could you let me know how it performs. I plan to get one in about a month or two
I have it for over 5+ months now close to a year and it’s an absolute beast! I only maxed out the RAM to 24gb ram with 256gb SSD cause i don’t really see a difference with the speeds and I always don’t mind the waiting on the downloads anyway since I’m doing something else to keep me busy. Overall, I’m very satisfied with it! Use multiple tabs, have photoshop open while watching a stream or TH-cam, pretty much have multiple applications open and the 24gb ram REALLY helps to not wear out the SSD swap or MacBook itself, absolute powerful machine!

Hi man, your content is amazing, but I want to know where did you get this wallpapers for all your videos? I mean on devices
It's a scrapped Steve Jobs idea they brought back. It's why it just makes sense
Another great video. Thanks for being informative, really has helped me in past purchases and future ones too. M2 MacBook Air is in my view.
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words!!!
I dont think i need Face ID on MacBook, but higher base storage would be great. Feels cramped with 256gb😢
i dont understand why the notch is bothering people for me i barely notice it. it would really be nice if there was face id then i would love it even more
Thank you for watching and for contributing to the community. I also never notice the notch.
I'm definitely going to look into getting a MacBook Air 15".(M2 or M3)
I only need it for web browsing, e-mail, streaming.
For streaming movies/series which would you all recommend, Mac Book Air 15" or Mac Book Pro 14"?????
Would the one inch bigger screen on the air make that much difference in viewing ?
This is way overboard for streaming and e-mail. I would not spend so much money for this.
I went with the 13” air instead of a MBP because of the size
Super glad you went with the one that made the most sense for you. Smart move!!!
Thank you so much
@@McDowell666 thank you for your comment! I really appreciate it! 🫶🏾
Which Macbook models are good for University studies ? can anyone suggest?
This would be a great option. I do have a video dedicated to students.
Heavily depends on what you study
Thanks great review
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words 🙏🏻
Is that good for graphic design? my budget is tight and im going for base model though.
You might be better off with this year's mba 15 inch M3 mainly because of the speed difference between the SSDs, soeicifcally between the 256GB and 512GB variant on the M2s. This year the 256GB model is just as fast as the 512GB model
I adore my m2 air 15inch, best laptop I have ever had and more than enough for me and I’d class myself as a semi pro user
I really appreciate you taking the time to add I put as a semi pro user. Which configuration did you go with?
@@TechGearTalk 8gb but with 512gb hd! 8gb so far has kept up with all my work flow
Midnight M2 - 16GB RAM and 1 Terabyte = $1499 at Best Buy.
BOOM.
Thank you so much for adding such value to the community. I truly appreciate you sharing your experience 🙏🏻
I couldn't help staring at the Rubrik's cube.

the finger print is not the issue the big problem is that it hets scratch by the usb ports
Are the macbook displays very very fragile? I am very much concerned as I am going to purchase m3 macbook air and this is my first mac ever.
I have not found them to be any less durable than other similar displays. The build quality is very nice. The MBP display is a bit more solid if that’s a priority for you.

i want to buy the MBA with 16gb can i do a video editing on it on that heavy editing tho and some school works that requires a coding app something like that?
Yes you can do that
One thing i would add , please liaten the speakers in real they are way better than any video can do justice , it feels like you are listening to a good bose speaker its that good
Yes - the speakers are quite good for laptop speakers b

does it get really hot like my intel. is it good for xcode?
Mine does not get hot like the Intel used to. The M2 chip is much more efficient.
I love my MacBook Air 15inch for the lightweight capacity the battery life is great and the display is perfect for doing my college school work I’ve had my MacBook Air since tax free weekend and I got a discount from my school with free AirPods at the time of my purchase I am definitely keeping my MacBook for 5 to 6 years ❤

Thank you for the Turkish subtitles 🎉
So glad they were helpful. Thank you for being part of the channel!
I will just wait for that M3 chip in the 15 inch Air, and see how it goes...
Here’s how i look at it. if you need something now, get it now. If you can wait, always wait. You’ll end up getting something better for the same price or the same thing for a lower price. Hope that helps.
What m2 is suitable for ?
Apple. No need to depend on Intel or AMD.
nice but everthing is soldered on the motherboard...
impossible to upgrade, that suck
Definitely unable to upgrade. It is the third generation of M chips so I don’t think we’re going back anytime soon. Thank you for being part of the community!
You need a time machine to 15 years ago.
Just get the 35w with dual usbc and use both cables to charge your macbook. Its smaller than the 70w. Thank me later 😊
Should I wait for the m3?

The best value in a laptop today.

I have the base model 15" air , it's so good it's breeze to work on , it's my first Mac I never had any apple products, bro i m so tempted to buy an iPhone it's so lovely never hangs no blue screens , no dics dumps i really think it may last me a good 5 to 7 years , this the best purchase I have ever made
Wow - CONGRATS!!! so glad you love it. Thank you for being part of the channel!
pov you have an apple watch so you don't have to unlock your Mac
True. It does require having a PW on the watch. But it’s a fair trade off.
Thanks so much for watching and for the levelheaded analysis!!!
just buy the one you want !! don't bother buy the cheap one to save money !!, remember !! buy nice, or buy twice !! 😅
