Dijon opened for Bon Iver last night in Atlanta. He and 4 musicians sat around an 8ft folding table. Nothing else. They absolutely stole the show (and Bon Iver was excellent btw).
Dijon did the same about 2 weeks ago here in Colorado opened for Rex Orange County he also just sat around a table with his band and he was amazing the way he performs with his band is something beautiful to watch it was my first time ever hearing him and now I’m a big fan of his!
The guy who was also singing and playing lead guitar is another artist/songwriter by the name Mk.Gee and is someone i highly recommend to check out as well! Has a lot of great stuff (:
One might say it is necessary to break rules in order to be radical haha! I think Dijon shows how to break rules, be radical while showing respect for those that came before you by letting them speak through you and your unique voice
Been hooked on this guy since I heard "The Dress" a few weeks ago. Awesome stuff. I agree with the D'Angelo vibes, also throwing in some Bon Iver, Frank Ocean, and Blood Orange into the mix. I dig it for sure.
Dijon has writing credits all over bon iver's last album. He is def one of those hidden gems who solidified himself thru songwriting credits first before he gave us this gift of an album.
@@johnnoesen I usually tend to believe that they (justin, dijon, mk gee) are part of the same school sonically. Andrew sarlo is a mix engineer for justin and mkgee's last records. Dijon has worked with jimmy stacks in the same album bon iver was also featured. I am doing guess work here, but dijon's sonic success is dependent on the connection he has made and built in the bon iver camp.
The music feels like a real world geographic location, where you walk into a lonely roadside bar and all these different musical sounds and styles have some how come together. It's like watching a new musical genre being born.
If y’all like this song, def recommend listening to what he did as a part of the duo Abhi//Dijon (2014 and The Montana EP). Truly amazing to see how his artistry has progressed and evolved since then
Exactly what I thought when I first heard it. So beautifully unique. I literally started crying just out of the musical water flowing out of this faucet. When I make new music, I describe it as a faucet, sometimes I turn it on and nothing comes out. This is what a flood looks like. It was in a set built inside of a warehouse. There’s 25 minute film too.
you know, i'd usually say i wish i experienced the first time hearing this again but - i still get goosebumps from watching dijon perform this song after several listens
I’m reacting the same way. The video is so bizarre, but it sounds awesome! Cool voice, and it’s cool that the guitar player is playing the melody in sync with singer.
the crazy thing is i cannot stop listening to Absolutely and that’s exactly why! i made the connection to D’angelo or Bon Iver spiritually and now to know it’s not just me makes me feel more comfortable.
@@KiNGxDREAMER I honestly don’t see Frank when I hear the comparison but lyrically I can see why he’s mentioned but Prince is definitely one I haven’t thought about yet

Perfect timing. I just stumbled upon Dijon's album yesterday & really enjoyed it. D'Angelo vibes, for sure, and also Leon Bridges, but more eclectic & experimental.
Michael you nailed it with the D’Angelo description. As a matter of fact I’m going to go one step further and say D’Angelo fusion. This was amazing !!! Loved the vibe !!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I hope you see this comment. The guitarist in the video just put out, in my opinion, the album of the year a few months ago. It’s honestly such an ear grabber that I can’t believe you’ve come across this but not his album

been on dijon for abt 2 years now and i can say w conviction he’s one of the most unlikable likable artists i listen to. Everything in me wants to hate how that song sounds but yet i love it so much. Dijons a peculiar artist

Had a very Miles Davis feel to it where all the musicians "practice" in their performance and fit themselves together while still playing freely.

I discovered Dijon about 2 weeks ago, I like "Many Times", that's what turned me on to his music.
There's at least three more he has done in this recorded/filmed format. My personal favorite is "Talk Down"
Best song
I love Talk Down. Someone said they feel like he’s pioneering a new genre and I 1000% agree
Talk down slapps 🤘
I thought this track was great, but Talk Down completely sold me.
Dijon might be the only musician that I found through an ad.
It's like an amalgam of American music; jazz, RnB, country, rock,
Had the same reaction. One of the most exciting musicians for me rn
There's a few loops in there he's cutting in and out on demand. But this is a live recording. Amazing!
So immersive, it makes you want to be in there playing whatever.
