His playing and touch are incredible. That guitar waited DECADES to be played like that! He got everything possible out of that guitar. He is a huge asset to the shop!
That's probably the best workout that guitar ever had! I love watching you actually bring these guitars back to life! I love Mark but I LOVE watching you much better brother!
Maybe someday you could spend a few minutes and tell us how you learned to play like this and how you started. I know it helps to be born with the genes of a guitar prodigy.
That second was the first song I ever heard Lemmo play. It blew me away. I remember when he opened his mouth and sang something like “I was alone all because I loved you”. Great stuff.
If it's going to be like this (and why not?) you could make it 'Flat Top Everyday'. "It's an honour to be here", you say. It's a priceless gift to be able to listen and watch you play. Thank you, Michael Lemmo. Thank you, Norm.
Michael Lemmo that was "Purity of the utmost eloquence of melody and harmony naturally resonates the heavens of angelic bliss here in and forever quaint !!!!! " I am very blessed to have the opportunity to be able to enjoy all of your talents and expertise which is never the same and completely ongoing !
To my ear.. those guitars posses a 'richness' of sound that you just don't find anywhere else. My favorite is the old LG0. The mahogany has a certain something.. a 'quality'.. that is very pleasant.
Holy smokes Mike that was incredible may I thank you sharing your insane guitar playing with the rest of us mere mortals......keep up the great work....and of course we love you Jen....
Guy Werry exactly, plus, it's really fun to watch him having fun when he does these videos. Don't get me wrong, I like Mark and I generally liked his GOTD videos, but for the last year he would always give a big "SIGHHHHHH!" on Straturday and say "FINALLY! It's the LAST Guitar of the Day for this week!" like it had become a big chore for him. And god FORBID if it was a Strat with a 5-position switch, meaning OH MY GAWD!! he HAD to play FIVE SONGS!! I can't imagine becoming so jaded that "having to play" 5 songs on a vintage American guitar has become a drag. Unfortunately, Michael here has already started to skip the "extra songs" while blaming Jen for not wanting to do it, but at least he's saying he's still "glad to be here." I can only hope he's still saying it after a year...that is, if Fender doesn't scoop him up and create a position for him. Personally, I hope they do.
I want my hands each to have their own brain like Lemmo's! It's amazing some of the stuff he does so effortlessly. Great sounding guitar, great playing.
FLAT TOP FRIDAY HAS GOT TO BE MY FAVORITE GOTD IT'S KINDA LIKE JEN NEVER LEFT AND THE JOINT WOULD FALL APART WITHOUT HER LEMMO, I UNDERSTAND YER NEED TO MOVE TO TARZANA BUT DEL MAR ST. Very cool, yet again Mr. Lemmo. Kinda got a strange Michael Hedges / Live at Red Rocks vibe from those pieces. Whatever it was, it was beautiful!! See you tomorrow for Straturday!!
Cool! I've got two main reasons for not missing a Lemmo episode, love the guitars obviously but there is an element of surprise in the demo, always fascinated by what you'll play and the various techniques.
That was extremely awesome playing...i would have loved to hear him play some America songs on that one... Ventura hiway would have been a great one..an he could have played all the parts at once !! ...some ccr songs would have been great to hear from this one as well. Great job Mike an Jen,you both have really kept it rolling well...
These old Gibby's are somethin else really , doesn't have quite the bottom end I thought it might but still sounds awesome. Some great fretwork there Lemmo , talk about blowin the hinges off , stellar.
Micheal Lemmo! You my friend, are a Wizard to say the least haha. Huge fan of guitar of the day since Mark did it, I love Mark, but you are special in you’re own groove and I dig it, Big time haha. Thx for the videos keep em coming please
Who else applauded when he was done? This young man is special.
Yeah! After 6:44 it got real!
He really makes these worthwhile. Meanwhile Mark is doing unspectacular blues noodling for Gibson.
BRAVO!!! So fine!
His playing and touch are incredible. That guitar waited DECADES to be played like that! He got everything possible out of that guitar. He is a huge asset to the shop!
GOTD competition answers ( cut & paste for every week):

This was awe inspiring, guys! I'm glad Jen's skills are there to capture moments like this. Michael, you really lit it up!
Maybe someday you could spend a few minutes and tell us how you learned to play like this and how you started. I know it helps to be born with the genes of a guitar prodigy.
I'd love a "The Captain Meets Michael Lemmo" on the Andertons channel
Maximilien_438 oh bloody oath ^^
@@maximilien_4382 Yes, an interview would be the best format.
He went to berklee college of music
Just dexterity, dedication, discipline and a natural sense of rhythm.
Michael is truly a gifted player.
Whatever Norm is paying you, it isn’t enough. Holy hell that was amazing 🎸🎸🎸
Dang man!!! I feel like I can neither trust my eyes nor my ears!!
That was more than incredibile...
I keep imagining this guitar when it was made, never suspecting it would one day have something like this played on it.
Great playing...when I close my eyes and listen to that last piece, I hear more than one instrument.
Damn man.... That last one.... Your a monster player Lemmo! Keep it up!
wow....this guys range is boundless......can play many styles REALLY well......and played that Gibson beautifully.......
time after time, Lemmo is rocking it. Good Job Brotha you're doing a stellar job!
That second was the first song I ever heard Lemmo play. It blew me away. I remember when he opened his mouth and sang something like “I was alone all because I loved you”. Great stuff.
The guitar is beautiful...but WTF Lemo’s playing is beyond beautiful and today I was just blown away. Amazing.
Open G is such a gorgeous key to play in. Very motivating set this time.
That hybrid picking on the last song...just unbelievable
If it's going to be like this (and why not?) you could make it 'Flat Top Everyday'. "It's an honour to be here", you say. It's a priceless gift to be able to listen and watch you play. Thank you, Michael Lemmo. Thank you, Norm.

Magical playing. What a joy to be watching you play!

3:17 That moment when you feel like your dungeon crawling in A link to the past ;D
wow! i thought about sacred grove/lost woods from twilight princess
You made that into one of the best sounding Gibson acoustic guitars I have heard in the last 40 years.
Ever gonna do a Gretsch?
Chuck Tomlitz now he’s prob gonna do one
*plays something awesome every time. Stops and always says...
"Cool."
It always is cool, so, it's legit.
He's a guy who is enjoying his craft and abilities. Just fun, and that's the most rewarding kind of work.

LEMMO, I UNDERSTAND YER NEED TO MOVE TO TARZANA BUT DEL MAR ST. IS A COOL 2 BLOCK STREET IN SILVERLAKE, A PRIMO SPOT
I KNOW, BEFORE I MOVED TO HIGHLAND PARK IN 2011, I WAS 1/2 BLK FROM THERE ON MANZANITA STREET
I HAD TO MOVE AS THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO ROOM LEFT FOR ANY MORE GEAR
A BEAUTIFUL GUITAR TODAY
THAT WOOD HAS CERTAINLY GOT TO BE AS DRY AND AS LIGHT AS MY SCALP
I REALLY ENJOYED PLAYING WITH THE FIRST 2 SONGS ON MY 1961 GIBSON J~50 IN A 1966 FENDER PRO REVERB WITH A FINE BILL LAWRENCE FT~145 SOUND HOLE P-UP
FROM MY COLLECTION OF SOUND HOLE PICK UPS
THAT'S SOME DIRECT AND TRANSPARENT CLARITY
LOOK UP BILL LAWRENCE
SUCH A GREAT GUITAR LEMS
I WOULD'VE LIKED TO HAVE HEARD SOME STRUMMING
STILL, BEAUTIFUL PLAYING
I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT NORM BRINGS BACK NEXT
I'LL PROBABLY BUY ONE...

What a guitarist! That guitar sounds amazing!
Beautiful playing man, a whole load of passion in there... not just tried to sell the guitar!! Keep the soul!!!!
Just wow!! Great, beautiful and melodic playing Mike !!!
Michael effortlessly plays something beautiful and amazing, then just casually stops and says "okay cool lets try some fingerpicking"
I've got the "okay, cool... " part down. If I could just get the rest.
thats why he is the host. wish i had half his Talent on guitar.
Very cool, yet again Mr. Lemmo. Kinda got a strange Michael Hedges / Live at Red Rocks vibe from those pieces. Whatever it was, it was beautiful!! See you tomorrow for Straturday!!

Poor ol todd...he just showed up at the wrong time cause Mikey is on another level
