I wish Brian could have seen this coming and prepared by having a small generator ready. The Honda 2000 watt will keep your fridge running and lights and computer, with starlink going, and charge your batteries for about 1 gallon of gas for about six hours. That would be enough to keep the food from spoiling and allow you to get on the internet every day and keep the phones running. Hopefully he will get one before the next blackout. You know there will always be another blackout, it's just a matter of when.
I suggest buying more large candles, flashlights, batteries, and saving up for a solar electric system.. It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness.
Wow Lot, you are all surviving as true Province family with no electricity. One way to keep your frozen meat to not spoil is to brine it in salt and smoke it over wood like it was done many years ago. You still have fresh fruits and vegetables to live off of too. Another thing is all the kids are learning how to survive in a extended brownout. Take good care and stay healthy!!!
It sucks when the power goes out and it ruins all the food that needs to stay cold or frozen. I can only imagine how much loss restaurants and markets must have when the power goes out that long.
No. Fibre carries light, good for communications. Many of the islands in the Philippines do not generate their own electricity, so the electricity comes through waterproof cables that go from island to island, similar to the cables you see strung up in the air from large towers, that carry electricity long distances over land. Although the cables are well marked on nautical charts and ships are not supposed to anchor near them, they sometimes do and can damage the cable.
@@danp1043 Yes I meant electrical lines. So no further news on boats that went through cabling with anchor...very frustrating. We will be building near Pacifico where the rest of the Whitman are going, we will be self sufficient in energy and water, something that is important to have on the Island. Thanks for the reply.
@dannieduplessis2432 No mention of any specific ship mentioned in any of the reports I've seen. They might not have even known they did it. I've seen some pictures of the cable after they hoisted that section onto a barge and it looked pretty rough. I believe it's been there about 20 years. In the US, the government would make the company replace it. That may happen in the Philippines in this case as the government is working hard to make Siargau a big tourist destination. Oh... power has been restored.
Hope you get the power on soon thanks for sharing take care
Life in paradise is not so good like we were imagining 😊
