2005 Suburban 5.3 Vortec oil pickup tube o-ring replacement

So the oil pressure on the Suburban has been down under 20psi which is a bit disturbing so we dove in to replace the common fail item of the oil pickup tube o-ring and dropping the oil pan. It's a big job so come along and see what we do to replace it.

I had the same reaction when starting my truck for the first time. Doing this job on my 06 Sierra z71. The spacing between the axel and oil pan is no joke. I had trouble getting in there. Sure had me saying lots of verbal language. Lol

ive never been more excited to do something than this! lol i have the same issue as alot of ls owners do after 200k with the oil pressure. mine has 260k so i know its time. just waiting on the pan gasket and i can crack her open

Just ensure the bolts are able to loosely go through and check the edge of the gasket as you lift the pan in place. Goes easy!

How fardown did you drop the front axle?

Wasn’t too far of a drop, it’s surprisingly easy to others I’ve done.
