  • I was having the kind of trout fishing trip that dreams are made of before the sky opened up and it started raining. I only fished for an hour or so, but gee I made the most of that short time as you will see in this video.

      I constantly cast in places like that one, but fly fishing, not spinning... when you're used to fishing in certain places you have a kind of sixth sense... you know how and where to shoot so as not to get caught.. For example, if you want to fly fish, you ofyen also have to pull back first than forwar, yet you don't look..Evidently, even if in the unconscious, our brain knows where there are obstacles.. then if you're just starting out, getting entangled is normal!

    Best trout fishing location I ever found was on near White Pass in Washington State. There's a water runoff ditch along the side of highway 12, but as I was driving by I noticed an area through the woods that looked like a beaver pond so I pulled over and threw a rooster tail. The pond's size was so small, you could cast from one side and hit the bank on the other side without even trying. I could only flip the my lure in to avoid the bushes and trees that lined it. I had a strike every cast and caught my limit of 5 trout in no more than 10 casts total. I even released some after I caught 3, because I realized I could be a bit more picky about the sizes I kept. They were all browns. All 35-45 centimeters.
    It blew my mind, because the brook that fed the pond was so shallow and narrow you could step across it, flat footed. I went back in the spring the next year as soon as trout season opened, and it whole area was completely different, and the snow-melt had turned that tiny brook into a good sized stream. I then realized why there were so many trout in that beaver pond later in the year. They get trapped in there when the water level of the stream drops, creating an overpopulation concentration in the pond, which also probably causes a food scarcity issue, making them attack anything that even resembles food.
    The funny thing is that stream feeds down into a lake called Clear Lake, about 2 miles from the beaver pond. I've fished that lake my entire life, and I've never caught a brown trout out of it, not seen anyone else catch a Brown out of it. All rainbows, cutthroat and an occasional Silver (land-locked Coho Salmon).

    Last weekend I caught a salmon in the lower Pelorus river, quite unheard of, when I gutted it, the stomach was distended, when I cut it open I found a full sized rat, the salmon had literally sucked it inside and it still took my streamer, one of my greatest moments.

    Good video you might be getting our rain we got 10 MLS and still raining with the tassie lures how do U fish them in the creeks I brought same over at tassie two weeks ago got mudeyes and other softplasic but I was looking at them small fish one I must get same now after watching this going try them in our local res around the weed beds

    • @robbiefishing
      @robbiefishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate. I prefer tassie devils in lakes, but I certainly have caught trout on them in streams. They require a lot more room to swim than other lures due to their wide sway.
      You can just cast them out and reel them in. Their erratic action is what the trout love.
