    The KDP75 is an incredible value and I cannot remember when I've been so happy with a purchase. Fit and finish are perfect, love the satin finish on the keys. The key cover is a great touch. Most of all I love the action and the dynamic range you can get out of it.
    It is just a pleasure to play and listen to.
    The assembly only took 15 minutes. Pro tip - use a powered screw driver, not a screw driver. Several holes were not pre-drilled.
    Did I mention I like the KDP75?

    I´ve got to be honest here. I do not play or own a piano, i just love the sound and sir, you´re videos are as relaxing as listening to Henri Herbert, Peter Buka or Georges Sokol! I learned really a ton here at your channel when it comes to digital pianos ♥♥♥
    Keep up the good work and kind regards from Austria

    From this video and the comparison video against the Casio PX 870 I bought the KDP 120 last night from a local musical instrument shop.Got a great discounted price! Assembly was an one hour exercise. I was originally looking for an arranger keyboard (Yamaha DGX 670) but changed my mind to buy a digital piano after watching 2 dozen Stu Harrison Merriam videos. Happy with the KDP-120, sounds great and keyboard feels and responds like a good quality acoustic. Thanks Stu!

    I'm really enjoying your knowledgeable and honest reviews on these digital pianos. Many other comparison videos on youtube seem like paid ads reading from script.
    I've been looking for the best sound experience for deep and powerful play. I only wanted to spend $1000 max, but the KDP120 sounds incredible.

    This review really helped me a lot. I am a beginner player and play mostly with headphones on my keyboard in my basement. I am looking for something to practice on and have settled on a Kawai for my next purchase. I have been debating on which from the KDP series would best suit me and I believe that I am going to go with the 75. For what I need I just don’t think that there is enough difference to justify the price difference. Thank you for your review.

    Really enjoy your playing and reviews. I played both the KDP75 and KDP120, and they are fantastic. The FDP120 sound seems richer and the piano keys seem a bit thicker (in dimension) than the KDP75, which made it easier to play for a novice like me.

    • @MerriamPianos
      @MerriamPianos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for tuning in! The KDP series instruments from Kawai are amazing! They provide some of the best cost-to-value ratios on the market. The KDP120's 40W speaker system and superior action definitely give it a bit of an edge over its smaller sibling. :)

    Does anyone know when the Kawai KDP120 Satin Black will be available in the US ? It looks like no store (including Kawai) carries it right now. I have pre-ordered it but it seems like nobody know when it will arrive. This is very frustrating

    I just got out the piano shop. I played the KDP75 and the KDP120.
    75’s sound is far better than the 120. The 120 sounds dull, not vibrant. However, the 75’s cabinet is made out of some sort of hard plastic/ veneer, not wooden, not attractive at all! BUMMER! Keys have a plastic feel but the action on the 75 is pretty good. I give the kdp75 a 7/10. The 120 has a better look and feel but lacks the sound quality in my opinion. I give the kdp120 a 6/10.
    However, I came across the CN29, That is the winner! Plays beautifully, quality keys and cabinet. 9/10. But that’s a high end piano, for a bigger budget. Damn.

    • @MerriamPianos
      @MerriamPianos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for tuning and sharing your thoughts! The Kawai KDP instruments are fantastic. There are definitely some slight differences in tone and touch due to the speaker systems, cabinet design, and action. Everyone will have their own personal preference. With that said, it is hard to argue that the CN29 is not one heckuva digital piano! It is a meaningful step up from the KDP75 and KDP120 models in all facets. :)

      I am stuck between kdp120 and kdp75, look of piano doesn’t matter much for me but what i wonder is that are there really worthy differences between its keys? Which one feels more like acoustic piano?

    • @johnny110291
      @johnny110291 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@cagan7373 in my opinion I liked the sound of the 75 over the 120, but hated the plasticky feel and construction.
      To answer your question, which one feels more like a real acoustic piano. Physical feel? The 120, sound feel? The 75.

    • @johnny110291
      @johnny110291 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cagan7373 but If i had to choose I’d go for the 120. Always choose the feel over sound, ideally both, but if you had to choose only one, choose feel. You can always use connect your piano to a computer and use a software to play different sounds, record, etc.

    When I connect the KDP75 to the PianoRemote, the modern piano turns out to be the EX piano. Is it a secret upgrade which they did not include in the marketing material? So it has actually 2 Kawai piano samples? (SK EX and EX).

    Hello, great review, my biggest question is about loudness, does KDP75 sounds loud enough for a middle sized room? I can't listen to it cause shops does not have it in my city, so i only can order it and i struggle to choose between KDP120 and KDP75

    • @MerriamPianos
      @MerriamPianos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Brent here! There are a number of elements that impact the volume of an instrument within room beyond size (i.e. furniture, rugs/carpets, etc.). With that said, the KDP75 is plenty loud for most rooms within a home. Naturally, at 40W, the KDP120's sound system is louder and more robust. Thanks and hope this helps! :)

    I’ve tried the KDP 120 today and I liked it a lot. But I was a bit disappointed with the action mechanism. It’s not that it didn’t performed well but I found that when the key is releases it shakes a bit more than what I was expecting. I guess that is to mimic what happens in an acoustic piano but I found it a bit exaggerated. To be honest I don’t think it interferes with playing at all but still… Well, this is probably just in my head. Any opinions on this? :) Thanks for the great video.

    • @harrys2331
      @harrys2331 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That is with pretty much all of the lower end actions to be fair. I tested out the P515 and it wasn't much better. I ended up buying the KDP120 because it's beautiful and sounds way better as the on board speakers are much louder and nicer than what the p515 comes with. I did prefer the Kawai action though overall and love the tuning you can do with it.

    Thank you for your videos, they have been very useful. I search a digital piano now, as a second one to my daughters. We have an acoustic piano, but as we have moved to town, they have less time to practice, because we can’t disturb The neighbours. They are both in an intermediate level, playing must classic repertoire and we are still keeping our acoustic. Could you recommend one digital piano (Around 1,000 Euros)? Thank you!

      I've only tried an 110 not 75, the Kawai have an action closer to real piano but Casio's more responsive, I prefer the sound of Casio though.
      Now the 75 only have 2 sensors on the key action compared to tri sensor on Casio, I would pick Casio if bluetooth midi wasn't a priority.

      Yes, the DGX-670 audio out port is software controlled with I believe 3 possible choices. One negative is there is not a headphone port at the front of the keybed which would be much more user friendly, particularly if the piano is facing a wall.
