Hi! I just binged your entire channel and was really hoping for a recent video. So many DSers vanish and it’s super scary as someone about to have this surgery. How are you doing these days? Thank you for sharing what you have, so much of what you talk about really resonated with me. Some on a very deep level.

So glad you are back! Looking forward to recipes!
Thank you for sharing about your GI issues. I have been experiencing some of the same (much less painful, though) as you. I am about 18 months out and now wonder if I am dealing with the same issue.

Hiya! I don't know if yours is the same, but it might be. Definitely worth checking, because for me, it only got worse over time. Keep me posted, I sure hope yours resolves quickly!

Switched Focus One additional item: you mentioned that you target 90 grams of protein a day. I struggle getting in 80! What do you eat to meet your protein goal? I find that I must only eat protein because I can’t “fit” much more in! Thanks😊

Hey there. I eat yogurt, by itself or in green smoothies, eggs, and I easily eat softer proteins like cottage cheese, fish, shrimp and scallops. I also make chicken easier to eat with sauces, or mixed in things like chicken salad. Steak and pork chops are still the proteins that fill me up the fastest, but I still do it from time to time. Mostly, I snack between meals to get extra protein in. If you are reliably doing 80g, that’s not bad. Maybe aim for some protein snacks? Should get you where you want to be. 😀

Hi Amy, so nice to see you. I am sorry you have been suffereing with such stomach problems, but happy you found solutions to them and are will to share your story to help us realize what things can pop up for DS'rs and educate us on these issues and offer the knowledge of how to fix them. My dr. said no to probioatics when I asked if I need to take them. He feels the right foods should provide what we need. however, if any issues do come up I will ask about them again. Please, once again, I will say, Yes to your sharing some cooking videos with us. I look forward to seeing them. It is always good to see how others cook and eat and have optional ways to prepare foods to change things up a bit. Please do video them. Looking forward to them. Hugs!!

So glad to see an update from you, you were one of the first DS TH-camrs that I found prior to making my surgery decision.
Sorry to hear about the SIBO, glad you got it cleared up. This surgery wreaks such havoc with our digestion and gas levels, it could be tough to realize very early that there's something more going on. I think your story will be a good one for all of us to heed.

Scary stomach issue. I am finding I am getting ridiculously gassy even when my carbs are really low. When I get to moderately low forget it, horrid gas. It’s getting worse as I get farther out. I’m almost at a year out and when I eat something I should not I expect consequences but if I am eating well I am still having these horrid gassy issues. The smell is straight up foul and embarrassing. I’m very frustrated. I see my surgeon next week for my one year and plan on discussing it but thought you might have some insight. I was never told to take a probiotic, could that be the problem?

Lisa Pickens DS Journey Hi Lisa. Sorry to hear you have been struggling with this issue! I don’t have many issues when my carbs are inline, but I do have some suggestions. Probiotics for sure, and also many folks in the DS community sing the praises of Devrom (available on Amazon I think). Another option is charcoal capsules for odor issues. Do check with your doc, but I have seen all of these recommended on DS groups and message boards. Hope some of this helps!
