    I lost 266 pounds and regained about 45 pounds. I started out a bit more than 500 pounds with diabetes, high cholesterol, seriously high blood pressure and crazy bad edema in my legs.
    I’m 14 years post-op. My weight hovers between 220 & 245. I’m no longer diabetic, have low end of normal cholesterol, normal blood pressure, and mild edema.

      I stared at 445 at surgery I'm only a month and 1week out and am at 408 so it's nice to know I could get down into the 225-245 range

      Are you able to eat the same things you were able to eat before surgery?? I recently had the surgery and I have no interest in food right now but I always wondered if one day in the future I could enjoy at least one thing from before surgery even if it was only a few bites.

      @@jayjohnson5561 I can eat the same things, just not as much.

      @jayjohnson5561 also, when my appetite returned, I managed to eat a piece of fried chicken and one bite of a pickled jalapeño. Strange thing to crave, but I sure did crave it.

    *Live Healthy MD* Hello my friends . Resistance training such as weight lifting may be the best option. If that’s not possible cardio workouts are also effective.

    My surgeon is Duke Fellowship trained, so he's good. He doesn't even do VSG any more. They said no one is successful. As I sat there at 150lbs with a bmi of 22! No one is successful? However, 9 years later I'm 175lbs! I maintained for years, but some health complications slowed me down and I've screwed up my metabolism by eating 500-800 calories per day for years, now I gain weight eating a typical 1200 calorie diet and at almost 60, weight is so hard to lose!!

      Weight regain is more common in patients after the VSG since there is no malabsorptive component of the procedure. However, many patients are still successful with the sleeve if they adhere to their surgeon's/dietitian's guidelines and lead a healthy lifestyle

    Where do these percentages come from? Excess weight is subjective from person to person

    Hi Thank you for this video, would you please comment on expected weight loss with Sleeve to BPD/DS surgery? Post op 9 yrs VSG here.

      Hi, your expected weight loss will depend on where you are starting at. But in our experience we generally see patients lose ~100 pounds when converting from the VSG to DS.

      Ditto. I got to goal and maintain for years, but I've gained 25lbs in the last 2 years.

    Can you have the duodenal switch 9 years after a reg VSG?

    • @LiveHealthyMD
      @LiveHealthyMD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The most common reason for a conversion to a DS after the VSG is weight regain. It is possible to revise a DS to a sleeve, but you will want to consult with a bariatric surgeon to talk about this more in detail and the possible risks/complications

    Can it be reversed

    • @LiveHealthyMD
      @LiveHealthyMD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, the duodenal switch can not be reversed. That is why we reserve this operation for our heavier patients and ensure that they are really ready for this lifestyle change.
