Song was from my senior year in high school. I had been selected to all-state choir, which was awesome. Then, on the bus trip back from Olympia, I sat with this total fox cutie from another high school clear across town... and we shared her earphone splitter on my walkman and listened to this. I was totally smitten by her and wanted our moment together to last forever. When we got back to town, she gave me a hug, and I never saw her again. But every time I hear this song... it's the fall of 1989, and all over again I'm that shy kid in high school. It's the end of the 80s, and I've got this terminal lump in my throat, and for a moment, for just a second or two, for old time sake... she's right there, listening to this with me.
How I know you are legit is you called her a fox. Great memory for you but life goes on and hopefully you didn't miss out on a woman because of a memory. Or maybe, just maybe that girl is your destiny.......
The Internet contributed to the demise of good music because people downloaded the musicians' hard work. Hence, there is no longer an incentive for musicians to put all of their efforts into singing a good song.
Richard Marx is a great singer and song writer. so talented and wonderful singing voice. I can fall asleep listening to this song. OMG, I miss the 80's. I am a part of the class of 88 and am 53 today. Nothing can replace 80's music; the music was real and sincere.
My one and only love dedicated his life to me. Richard Max was the glue that held us together. He's been long gone, but I know I'll see him again, because the Lord is my God and we have eternal life in him. Amen

He was so authentic, and I fell in love with him instantly on stage because I was a young 14 year old impressionable teenager...not long after the concert I decided I was going clubbing because I felt safer than being at home with a Step Father who was under the influence of Scotch and looked at me as fair game,I saved myself from his leering and unwanted attention
What a time it was to be born in such an Era. The music really transcended issues of the heart. Did you hear it?! The raspiness of his voice...loud and clear. The smoothness of the tones and such a high level of precision performed with esteemed emotions. Richard Marx is one of a kind!
