Thanks for this video! I have been doing the same thing for years in Tijuana. It is very similar. Very easy to walk (or drive) across the border and never had any issues. The people in the pharmacy already know me. As you say, everyone there is just trying to make a living and do a good job so people keep coming back. Border patrol doesn't care about you bringing your prescription drugs. They know that's what people do. I have never been searched.
Thank you so much. The details and nuances in your video are great. I have a collection of Los Algodones videos (4) and my confidence is building for the trip.
I'm glad you knew exactly where you were going. Those "hawkers" would get me so distracted. If I went there I would bring a friend that knew his/her way around the area.
I hand write a list of medications and read it to the pharmacy staff. They don't require any MD RX for anything considered OTC (In Mexico is pretty much anything, except US controlled meds). I always go to Liquis pharmacy (purple on 2 different corners, opposite each other). I just tell border guys I have meds, and they ask what kind, and I tell them Blood pressure, asthma, allergy, acid reflux. And I get waved through. If you got dental work, they will ask if you got pain meds, I usually have Ibuprofen, or another the dentist prescribes for pain and inflammation which is a blend of Tylenol and Ibuprofen) and I get waved through. A lot of people are scared until they have gone through the process a few times. Then they are happy and chill.😊
Also never have I had them sort through what I am bringing back, but neither do I want that. I never get any thing that will give me issues at the Border.
This is good to know. I usually do all my dental (unless something is urgent) back in Serbia when I go to visit my family. I pay out of pocket, don't have insurance there anymore. I got two dental implants with crowns and all that for ~$1500. In the US crowns only would be about $1500 for both without insurance.
As someone that goes to Mexico all the tim for medical stuff my advice is to always get a second opinion before having any work done. That advice applies to the states as well.
Wow. I am so surprised at the cleanliness there. This is an excellent video. Thank you for taking the time to be so clear in your tour. Happy New Year.🎊 V

The hockers can be annoying but I respect that they are out there trying to sell goods instead of begging for $ like a lot of people do here in the states.
We need to do this. We need dental work but the dentists are honestly outrageously high. I have 2 crowns that came out for no reason (that I’m aware of )over the pandemic. We are going to check into this for sure. I know so many people who have done this and their teeth look beautiful.
It's not just on the border where you can get what you need at a substantial savings. I was on my honeymoon in Cancun when we realized that my extra insulin was left behind. I walked straight into a pharmacy and got what I needed, way cheaper than my copay.
just went there yesterday. got back into the states with an enhanced mn drivers license. no passport. also took about 2 hours on 1 to 3pm in line at us customs. great vid. nice town. going to go back and leave later in the day when I think line wont be as long.
I go there all the time. It is safe and all the services are quick except exiting back to the US! Recently, they have begun to close the border at 10:00 pm vs 2:00 pm as was the case for about a year. This has helped to cross back over a bit quicker. Sometimes, by vehicle, it takes over an hour to cross back to Arizona.
I went to Nuevo Progresso across the border from Mercedes, Tx and got implants. The dentist was the best I have ever had. As a bonus the have Ivermectin and other drugs in the drug stores without prescriptions.
Wow !! I live in NY but have always wanted to venture and relocate out West.. Traveling to Mexico would save so much on cosmetic dental work that I’d love to get done ! Thank you for the video!

Thanks. That was very interesting. I wonder if a person in a wheelchair or a mobility scooter could get through the metal gates at the border instead of going through the revolving gate.
In every border crossing I had with a wheel chair as soon as you were approved if there were any concerns the staff always with my permission, took me through a different entrance if my chair was a concern.
@@lok4058 no worries. I've been escorted through staff exits before. I just had to consent to them pushing me. Most people are really nice about it if you express the concern.
10 zirconium crowns, and 2 root canals, $4000. Everything state of the art, next day service, pick up from your hotel and return. $20k and a 2 week wait in the US.
Are the Dentists known for upselling work that does not need to get done? Like getting a root canal when a filling would do or getting a filling when a cleaning is all that was needed?
Does border patrol scrutinize your meds when you cross back into the US? Some of those meds are considered controlled substances in the US such as Tramadol.
In your experience, do the dental offices there have up to date equipment like a Novocain pump (as opposed to a syringe operated by the assistant)? Many people may not know this but the needle in a Novocain pump is smaller in diameter and with that it is so much less painful. That's sort of my personal threshold for dental offices. If they don't have that, I don't go in :( The pump really eases some of my fears.
I am headed that way in Feb. I've never been and it would be helpful to have a map like the one you filmed. Any suggestions on how to acquire one... I hear cell service is non existent.
When I was there last winter cell service was excellent. You do need tobe sure you do not have your phone set up to block roaming. That could be the underlying cause of reports of a bad signal. A simple setting change will fix that issue.

Thank you for the gift. Please give it to someone in need of it.
I'm always glad to see you Bob!
As someone that goes to Mexico all the tim for medical stuff my advice is to always get a second opinion before having any work done. That advice applies to the states as well.
Thank you, Bob. I appreciate all the useful, practical information you put out.
*Good reminder on Passport. 👍👍
I was there about a month ago and a driver license is all you need...
@@ZiggZagg11 How about entrance to Mexico thru San Diego. Do you need a passport.
Thx for the Molar City info. hadn't seem that before.
Wow. I am so surprised at the cleanliness there. This is an excellent video. Thank you for taking the time to be so clear in your tour. Happy New Year.🎊

I just went to Sani Dental...you can see how sanitary they are (better than some places here) in my video if you want. They have an international award that only 3 dentists in this area have. Went in oct and nov of this year.
Even if you can afford the outrageous costs in the US, why not save money and have a vacation at the same time?
Mens hair cut? 5 bucks! Wow!
$3 for that in Thailand 🇹🇭. No wonder being an expat nomad is popular.
@@brucesmith9144 Indeed! I'm planning on traveling the world when I get the chance. Being a Nomad has its perks!
It's free because I cut my own.
Thank you very much for taking the time to provide us all this helpful information. You
are doing us a great service. Sincere regards!
This fellow is so informative!
I love los algodones! We've been a number of times. Molcas tacos is so good! I go to Dr. Valenzuela for my dental needs and couldn't recommend his office more.
Awesome video!! Thank you for providing it to us!! I wish I could have met you in person when I was at RTR 2022 yesterday in Quartzsite. Perhaps next year. Stay safe….
I have to say, that's an adorable little town!
I bet it is cheaper the deeper you get from the border. Great video today.
Such a helpful video, thank you Bob! I do wish these videos clearly showed the dates filmed. It’s kind of confusing with Upload Dates. I always wonder how much has changed. But maybe Mexico doesn’t change.
Hi bob. Love you and cody and family. I love mexico. Oh.man. i just had 1600.00 worth of dental work done. I didnt know about things being so affordable. Thank you for a wonderful video. As usual.
No you make great videos you are a godsend!
True, my brother got lasik done in Peru for a quarter the price, here in the US.
Thank you for showing us this side if Mexico. I have been there many times fir vacation but never for medical.
Thanks!
Thank you 880Raven!
The hockers can be annoying but I respect that they are out there trying to sell goods instead of begging for $ like a lot of people do here in the states.
True
If you partake of their services, that visit to the pharmacy will require a few more medications.
Thank you for making this video. I'm planning on going there next year for dental implants next year and now i kinda know what to expect.
I walked straight into a pharmacy and got what I needed, way cheaper than my copay.
yep, you can do the same in canada. ever seen bernie sanders take a bunch of people on a bus from vermont to canada? for the insulin.
A former workmate of mine used to go there with his wife all of the time. Thanks for the video describing it for those of us not fully aware of it.
Thank you Bob. For the Mexican border shopping trip. I love you videos, and think you are soo cool.
just went there yesterday. got back into the states with an enhanced mn drivers license. no passport. also took about 2 hours on 1 to 3pm in line at us customs. great vid. nice town. going to go back and leave later in the day when I think line wont be as long.
Thanks for the tour!
I so appreciate the information for the future. I'm sure I will get there and use these facilities. Great place!
That was the first nice place I have ever seen in Mexico. The boarder towns to Texas are forget about it!
Yeah I wouldn't be brave enough to cross at Laredo or El Paso
I went to Nuevo Progresso across the border from Mercedes, Tx and got implants. The dentist was the best I have ever had. As a bonus the have Ivermectin and other drugs in the drug stores without prescriptions.
what was the name of the practice?
Thank you _so much_ for this excellent video! Definitely keeping this in mind for whenever I need new glasses. 🤓
Thank you for sharing the important and technical parts of living free on the road ✌️💜
Appreciate this video. Something that worries me is how does one pick a dentist? I have a lot of work to get done.
How would you pick one in the US? Ask others??
@wade bridged internet. They advertise and there are reviews
Thanks for the info Bob. Do you make the 3 trips for your prescriptions in the same day or different days? Blessed travels always
i thought he said he has in the same day with no problems
Wow !! I live in NY but have always wanted to venture and relocate out West.. Traveling to Mexico would save so much on cosmetic dental work that I’d love to get done ! Thank you for the video!
Wow that’s amazing, I’m sure the food is delicious 😋
Great info, thanks Bob!
Thanks for sharing this video and all the great information! Have a blessed New Year in 2022!
We just got back a week ago. It was great! Dental and glasses! $140 for progressive bifocals with transition lenses!
Did you get an eye exam there? And they had the prescription glasses ready the same day?
@@cathystratton2688 Got the exam and glasses 2 hours later. Mendoza Optical. Next to Alberta Dental. Both are great. Check out their reviews!

Is passport really needed, is it possible to cross back to u.s. without passport?
@@johnle231 I’ve heard that people have used birth certificates, passport cards and the Real ID drivers license. I’d err on the side of caution and use a passport. Otherwise you could probably call the border checkpoint and ask.
@@alchik1
I just saw a comment saying birth certificate was enough and to save money and not get passport.
Thx for your response
Thanks Bob. Anyone ever compile a more complete list of available drugs?
pharmacies may have a website with the info
Awesome info Bob, thank you so much!🦋
When I lived in San Diego, I used to go to Tijuana for all my needs. Why not, we taught them & they had all the same stuff we have North of the Border.
Thank you Bob. This was a lot of good information.
Love going to Algadones did my shopping there last year. Couldn’t make it to Quartzsite this year. Missing all my friends.
I thought for a moment you might go in the Barber shop just a trim not a makeover. Happy New Year!🎊🎆💕🐈🐻
I really appreciate this video. Do you go back and forth on the same day to get more prescriptions? Thank you again for this video
My sister had her dental work done there in November 2021. She save so much money that it paid for her flights from Alaska to Yuma for her and her husband, the airbnb with a pool that also came with rental car. She was there back and forth from Yuma and overall still save 50% the cost. I drove my van down from Reno and stayed with them, along with another sister. The place was nice and she said the dentist was fantastic! She will never go anywhere else.
Will you please post the name of the dentist and hotel?
Bob, what do you do with Cody while you go into Mexico? I ask because I have a pup. Thanks
Amazing , thank you for this.
Has anyone spent the night there....supposedly there’s a very nice hotel there that is extremely affordable.
really appreciated this information. I wonder if there is a place to find recommendations for specific shops and professionals in Los Algodones? Reading up on it, it's recommended to talk to experienced folks. I think we all know a good pharmacy now. Planning ahead for my trip there at some point. Thanks for sharing Mr. Wells
Thanks. That was very interesting. I wonder if a person in a wheelchair or a mobility scooter could get through the metal gates at the border instead of going through the revolving gate.
I would like to know this too, as I'm in a power chair.
In every border crossing I had with a wheel chair as soon as you were approved if there were any concerns the staff always with my permission, took me through a different entrance if my chair was a concern.
Thanks for that, as my scooter cannot go through a revolving door.
@@lok4058 no worries. I've been escorted through staff exits before. I just had to consent to them pushing me. Most people are really nice about it if you express the concern.
Green Bay Packers hat! To funny! They know just what we will buy.
10 zirconium crowns, and 2 root canals, $4000. Everything state of the art, next day service, pick up from your hotel and return. $20k and a 2 week wait in the US.
¡Gracias!
when ordering glasses do you have to come back like the US? I have medicare and still have to pay $200 for one short visit....
I'm curious about this as well
If I remember correctly someone said that they got them the same day.
If going for glasses. Do that the 1st thing after crossing. It takes 2 hrs.
@@evaccrim5470 Thank You! Do you have an optometrist there that you would recommend?
I went there in March of 2018 for my teeth, and they wouldn't touch me because of other health problems. I did get glasses from Mendoza optical.
Really??? What issues do you have? I have issues too and they knew exactly what to do.
@@evaccrim5470 Blood clots in my lungs, 5 times over 30 years.
The map at 9:44 is really helpful
How do you decide which dentist to go to ? All speak English fluently ?
I never heard of that a lidocaine pump. I don’t like the shot either but prefer Novocain to pain.
There is a movement among the Filipino American community to get medicare to pay for work done outside the USA...sure could save alot of money.
I like the look of this little town I see a lot of Americans there thanx.
How do you know which dentist is good? Are there reviews or a rating system or something?
I love all the colors Mexicans use on their buildings. 🇲🇽
Very helpful. Is it possible to find medication lists and costs?
