    Good luck with next fest and the release! Great video as always - I’ll have to go check out some of those press release sites next time I have a game ready to promote in that way

    Always make sure to make a press-kit, make sure it's easy to find, and make sure there's images of the characters and key objects with transparent backgrounds that youtubers can use in thumbnails there!

      Oh that's quite smart I never thought about a presskit for that because I never put myself from the creating content side but it totally makes sense !

    Another super informative video! Also, a quick note 'Tier' is pronounced like \ teer \ as apposed to tyre

    Thanks for the tips. I definitely need this as PR/Marketing can be expensive and I'm about as poor as Al Bundy. I haven't finished it yet but currently watching.

      @@orangepixelgames Nice, that's longer than my full game currently so I'll need to wait till I'm further along in development. Thanks for all the handy tips!

    about PR companies, I do not recommend key mailer, i hired their services and got about 10% of what they promised, so I would not work with them in the future

      The free tier is also very bad, it used to be a lot better back in the day when they just started out tho. But things change!

    The only paid advertising I am considering is targeting subreddits of similar games. Since it would be really targeted. But I am not yet at the stage to see if it's a viable strategy.

      Even there it will on average be about $1-$2 per wishlist (seen various developers report these numbers recently).

    I don't want so sound mean, but how do you even survive as an Indie Game Dev, when all of your released games were mostly financial failures? I checked every game on vginsights and not a single game has ever made it to the 6 digits revenue. When subtracting regional pricing, chargebacks, refunds, -30% steam cut, paying taxes and all of your other fixed costs, then how do you even survive and live in pretty good looking (as far as I can see) house?

    • @orangepixelgames
      @orangepixelgames  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most of my games have been financial successes. Few haven't. Key is: lower cost of development, fast development cycle , and release on multiple platforms. PC is not the only one, and Steam isn't the only PC store either 🙃 I talk about all those things frequently on my channel

    • @a.feuerstein9512

      @@orangepixelgames Ok, thanks for the clarification, because I always thought that Steam is by far the strongest and most important market of all plattforms, which is usually the reason, why most Indie Devs start in the PC market and when the game gets bigger, they also port to the consoles.
      As a newcomer Indie Game Dev finishing a project and surviving in this rough business is in general the first goal you want to achieve. That's why I was asking^^

    • @orangepixelgames
      @orangepixelgames  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@a.feuerstein9512 Steam for sure is the biggest one if you're doing PC.. But I focussed on mobile first until 2015, and then ported those games to PC later.. and only did PC first since 2019 or so.
      And if you CAN do consoles, do it! doesn't matter if PC does good or bad, release on everything you can within your technical knowledge or budgets

    Wait why did you use post-Fx to put gameplay on the monitor behind you instead of just playing a video file? I guess it's way higher quality this way, but I notice immediatelythat it looked like it was superimposed onto the monitor. At 0:36 when your hand overlapped the screen you can see the footage appearing in front, that's where it became obvious. Tbh I don't think most people would notice that, but I just find it odd.

    • @orangepixelgames
      @orangepixelgames  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Why not? Not creating a cinematic movie here, just a simple talk video 😁 Don't over complicate things that don't need it!

    • @mattb8075
      @mattb8075 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@orangepixelgames I just thought it was odd is all, it definitely makes it easier to see when you aren't just filming a screen I get that.
