Darn, Gendgi beat me to the 40+ year old boomer first comment points on Rick Dangerous. Great game! Great spikes! Also, great use of hi res sprites for Rick on the c64 version. Your vid was also cool, Pascal. Awesome to have franchises to resurrect. I'd probably go with Meganoid subtitle.
Meganoid 2 is fine, the previous version has probably long been forgotten by consumers so don't worry about it. Incidentally, I love Meganoid reboot and you've just reminded me to play it again soon. 🙂
I think all sequels should use the Die Hard 2 naming scheme of just adding "er" to the first movie's name, so Meganoid 2: Meganoider

Do you protect your game names against IP theft?
Trademarks are expensive and need to be defended worldwide with lawyers... So not really an indie-gamedev thing to do
Could go the Microsoft route and jump straight to Meganoid X. For Windows it wasn't the 10th entry, so it wouldn't need to be for Meganoid either.
