Rather NATO than a possibly EU force. If getting corrupt, it could force, bribe and undermine nations not wanting to be assimilated into EU and/ or ruthlessly put a stop to any rebellion to get out of EU in alredy EU nations! Rather split up EU etc by having cultural/ historical tied nations unified ( though not lose their national flag, sovereignitt ) Con-federational Unions. Nordic Union, Baltic Union, West/ Center/ South/ East Unions. Heck if ever a new Jugoslavia!

    As a member of the Finnish Marines, reserves;
Strictly speaking, Finland doesn't NEED NATO.
Sure, being part of NATO helps, but even without it, we could hold the line. Much is made of that 1340 km of border with Russia, much less said about the fact that only about 100 - 300km of that border is easy ground for tanks, APCs etc., the prefered arms of Russia. The rest are forest and lakes, good luck getting through those alive... Those 100-300km of easily traversible ground is, in turn easily saturated and mauled by the largest artillery capacity in Europe, which happens to be located in Finland.

    • @Versosurma
      @Versosurma 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

This aspect is always missing in these videos. Csnt understand when war channels dont even bring it up. Difference in warfare when fighting in country littered with lakes and dense forests is something else than fighting in ukraine full of flat fields. Suddenly drones and tanks dont have so much uses. Enemy is much harder to spot and cover is everywhere.
russia having hard time in terrain suitable for their army proves that they would be utterly destroyed in nordic woods.

At southern Finland, there is possibility of -30 C and it is not uncommon but, it isn't common either. Finnish people, always have one thought about the weather, erratic. For foreign nations, Finland is the most ideal spring board for an attack into Russia. Finland is the shield, and Poland is the sword, Poles and the Finns can buy more than enough time for rest of Europe to get their armed forces mobile.
During peace time, Alaska, Canada, Finland, Norway and Sweden can provide the most ideal places to test any military equipment for horrific winters, USA and Sweden already have pretty extensive cooperation of research and development. Difficult to not crack a smirk upon imagining what kind of madness United States Air Force and Swedish Air Force, will cook up together.

Conversely, the other half of the population are the ones actually keeping this broken-down wagon half rolling down the road. Who's gonna run the economy and pay the taxes if they're all being shipped off to war? And those people hate their government so purely, they're as likely to fight Washington as Moscow or Beijing.

People always seems to forget how much aid Finland got from the Nordics in the winter war, especially Sweden despite their official "neutral" stance. Sweden supplied twice that of Finland's national defense budget in financial aid and a massive amount of weapons. The Swedish government and the Swedes wanted to intervene with forces but the king didn't want to violate what at the time was a 100 year old treaty of neutrality and manage to persuade the government to refrain from doing so. But a Nordic Corp of around 10 000 voluntaries (almost all Swedish) did in fact fight the Soviet Union in the war and took out around 5000-8000 Soviets (300 according to Finnish sources) while taking 30 losses.

People seem to forget that official finnish historiography is basically a bunch of fairy tales of them not provoking soviets in any way, not being ally of Hitler, not having concentration camps, not commiting war crimes, not helping with encircling Leningrad and starving it's people to death, not having ideas of having some kind of "great Finland". They won against everyone and everything, yet for some reason their army unconditionally surrendered in both winter and continuation wars and their country was allowed to exist simply because Stalin thought it would be cool to have a neutral buffer state nearby after the war ends. But why am i even saying that? That myth is imprinted within the brain, even in Russia there are tons of people who will tell you that Mannerheim wasnt that bad.
Honestly it is not unlike the current ukrainian affair - they are winning in western media, winning this, winning that, Russia is collapsing, conscripts fighting with shovels and stealing toilets.. but when there will not be enough space to dig new cemeteries to bury ukrainians they will eventually surrender and sign up whatever needs to be signed. But the myth will continue to live, with Simo Ha.. i mean Ghost of Kyev and all that goes along with it. In the end it wasnt really that bad for Finland as a state - they flourished by being neutral.

My 89-year-old grandmother still feels worried about war sometimes. I understand her fear since she had to leave her home in Karelia as a child when the Russians attacked, that kind of trauma is still strong in the older generation here. She was convinced we would be going to war again soon when Russia invaded Ukraine and that we would be the next target...

shamefully? They had allied with Germany. I totally understand that Finland did that as a way to survive and not out of support for Nazis, but if the US is at war with Germany and Finland allied to Germany, duh we're gonna declare war. Don't be dumb. We sided with an ally because that's logical. The US didn't really DO much of anything in Finland anyways. Grow up.

@@ryantannar5301Many Americans volunteered to fight for Finland though, including Christopher Lee. Finland wasn’t seen as an ally to Germany. Everyone understood. Finland were on their own, and real life you get desperate for any aid when Russia attacks. Russia has attacked Finland at least 5 five times. We’re so aware of history repeating, Poland feels exactly the same way. I really don’t like that we accepted any help from Germany at that time. But my grandfather who fought against the Soviet invasion when he was only 17, he always spoke against both Hitler and Stalin. Veterans rarely talk about the German aid, we often completely forget about it. Nazis didn’t fight along side us, just gave us supplies like Poland helping Ukraine right now. We just had a common enemy, but I wonder if a part of the continuation war was revenge because Stalin feared that Germany would come into Soviet Union through Finland but we were neutral and we would never allow that and do any business with Germany. Stalin made a promise to leave Finland alone if we stayed neutral and so we did but he broke that promise, which is why we don’t trust Russia anymore with those promises. Honestly it hurts that Finland accepted any help from Germany then, and during the continuation war we let the Germans attack Soviet Union from Finland as we tried to take back land stolen by Stalin. I wonder if it was kind of revenge “now that you invaded us, fine let the Nazis attack we don’t care anymore after what you did”… but still I hate it, my gf is from Poland. And Poland as you know what invaded by Germany and Soviet Union… but I wouldn’t go as far as to say that we were allies with Germany, and we didn’t help them fight or do anything. We had a common enemy we were alone and desperate and I think that’s all it was, you accepted any aid when a scary war against such a massive country is suddenly a reality. Logic goes out the window. Maybe I’m wrong, but I’ve never thought that we were allies with Germany. Just accepted artillery and gear to fight Stalin from them. But there wasn’t any kind of nazi ideology going on in Finland or anything like that. And there were volunteers from the UK and US fighting on Finland’s side. Although we didn’t let Christopher Lee fight in the front lines, we didn’t want him to die. But he was there as a soldier helping in other ways. But personally obviously I wish we had nothing to do with Germany back then. I think also people had no idea about the concentration camps and stuff yet. People didn’t yet understand the full extent of Hitler’s evil. But still it’s a very weird thing indeed. For most of my life i didn’t actually even know that we accepted aid from the Germans. I only learnt about it maybe 6 years ago because people don’t talk about it much. I guess people also don’t want to because we’re ashamed of it.

This town is therefore very important for Putin, as historically, Sweden was Russia's main enemy in northern Europe. An enemy that continually beat and held them back, until the Russians managed to take and fortify the area now known as St. Petersburg. The town is a symbol of power, for the Russians, and especially Putin.

People speak of russia as if it can be trusted to live long enough on the map.
Let's take a closer look at what we have right now compared to before:
Russians entering a war to protect ''orthodox'' population in Serbia, supressing a revolt in 1905. Failure to secure the frontline, leading to complete collapse of the armed forces that proved to be underdeveloped and using tactics completely useless against incoming German forces (similiar to what we have in Ukraine, right?). Bolshevik revolution, Ukrainian, Polish, Georgian, Kazakh, Finnish, Baltic and etc. etc. etc breakaway states. Lingering civil war. Collapse of Russian Empire.
    *COLLAPSE OF RUSSIA IN 1917*
Formation of Soviet Union, numerous horrific famines, revolts and race for power grinding the population into poverty. Relative ''progression'' throughout 1922-1936 (again, through countless deaths, purges and famines). Annexation of western bit of Poland to protect ''polish workers'' from opression. Purges, Katyn massacre. Second World War. Catastrophic casualities, useless tactics, underdeveloped and underequipped armed force. Horrific atrocities on own population (purges, you know the drill). Victory (10 million dead, both soldiers and civilians) followed by a catastrophic economic and industrial decline. Famine of 1946. Countless rebellions in Chechnya, Baltics, Ukraine, Poland, Belarus, Central Asia and even Siberia purged. Numerous other events (including explosion on CNP) from 1948 to 1979. Afghan war. Lingering conflict with a lot of casualities to establish and protect ''workers government of Afghanistan''. Economic decline, fracture within' the party, rapid changes in the government, leading to 'Perestroika' that failed.
    *COLLAPSE OF RUSSIA IN 1991*
Now here we are, Russia following it's same route to downfall throughout a lingering war, already facing a mutiny (even if it was short-lived) and temporar economic decline of 2022-2023. Growing tension within' Russia (Tatarstan, Dagestan and recent events in Moskow that increased hatred towards Tajiiks and other representatives of countries of Central Asia). Let's see when it comes to next russian collapse, eh?
*What I'm saying here is - russia is doomed to be a DYING empire. Forever and always.*

Sometimes Russia wins ,sometimes they lose, but they are still there. And they are pretty big still.
This war will be one of the winning wars for Russia. Not because they got so much bigger, but because their enemies are now so much weaker ,and Europe will still get a lot weaker and will stay that way for a long time. Possibly for centuries.
NATO is not just losing the war in Ukraine ,what is a lot worse is that we are losing the geopolitical war worldwide.
Russia has a team of leaders that are outstanding.
Lavrov .Putin,Mishustin and the main banker are all outstanding people in their field.
Lavrov has travelled the world for years and he has managed to gain support of majority of nations.
Behind him is Putin ,reliable ,fair negotiater and a man of his words.
On the other hand we have the western leaders that always look more and more like idiots.
They have made one colossal mistake after the other ,and they are still doing it.
The first and biggest mistake was to push for this war.
The main reason for this war is NATO expansion.
Our leaders thought that NATO was so strong that there was no need to listen to Russias concerns. NATO would win easily with the usual combined war on the battlefield supported by economical war and international isolation.
Just week in to the war the western leaders acted and talked like they had already won the war.
Remember "the ruble is rubble" "Russias economy is in tatters" "Russian soldiers will flee when the western tanks storm towards their defensive positions."
Those people are idiots and overly arrogant. It often comes in pairs.
They acted exactly like Hitler did.
Like Hitler they thought Russian people are inferior people. "Untermenchen".
Probably our leaders have never read a book.
Everything failed in this "cunning plan".
      There was no international isolation.
More than half of worlds nations and huge majority of world population either support Russia ,or they are simathetic to them. At least they understand what happened.
Most world leader understand that Russia was forced in to this war by the NATO leaders.
People can pretend as it wants that this is not our fault, but I think most people do know. But it is no use to lie to our selves.
But the truth is often too hurtful.
They also know that repeatedly this war could have been avoided if NATO wanted to avoid the war. But NATO leaders unfortunately did not want to.
Because the political isolation failed ,the economical war also failed.
Because the economical war failed ,the war on the battlefield also failed.
And here we are ,and our leaders are still digging our graves deeper.
They have no idea what to do,so they just decide to dig deeper.
NATO is far from able to keep up with Russia in weapons, both in quantity and quality.
The NATO countries have no money ,so they have to borrow or print every Euro and dollar that is used in this war.
The corruption around this war is astonishing. Even worse than the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
I am 67 years old and live in a NATO country.
I lived the most prosperous time that the world has ever seen in one of the most prosperous country that has ever existed.
For the stupidity ,arrogance and limitless greed of my leaders , I will probably die poor.
I am not happy that my children have to struggle in their lives because of those idiots.
I think people has not started to realize yet what it means to lose a big war.
It is too late to say Im sorry
Maybe it is time for people to open a book.
