The sooking has now gotten to the point where people are confusing Jason with Dave... Every time someone makes a comment like this whining about what happened with those two, all they are doing is tarnishing their legacy. Not Metallica's legacy, Jason's and Dave's legacies. There is so much more to both of them than how they left the band.

Nah Lars wanted it removed because it clashed with his drum sound. James's guitars occupied the low end and mid ranges. There was nowhere left for the bass to go so they essentially turned it down until it was barely audible to prevent it from making the recording all muddy and inaudibly distorted.
They could have compromised because there's amateur remixes out there that fixed it, but they choose not to.
His bass is what dominated the entire black album.... the one that broke them into the mainstream yeah?

All the members have come such a long way. Especially James. He used to be close minded and full of anger and angst. And now he's more open, a bit more chill and he's found his own way and faith. He's learned to believe with his heart. And that's awesome. And spreads peace. I love his attitude towards like fe and his family.

I have to agree. Even though he is annoying he has major drive and has a unique drum sound that made the band along with Het's riffs.

Very true, those are all master pieces, but truth be told, it was the black album that put them in the RHOF. Because it was the best selling album they had, hell don't get me wrong! I'll listen to the first 4 albums all day every day, but still they didn't give them international fame like the black album. MOP was/is the greatest thrash metal album ever, but they weren't mainstream yet, the black album was really the first mainstream album they had. 2 years straight of touring the world!? Omg & look at these 4 guys! Still touring the world delivering heavy metal on every corner of the planet lol. It's a joke of mine, but I seen someone else joke about it, but I think it's time for METALLICA to perform on Mars lol. What you think?

What I love about watching this was feeling like there was reconciliation and a lot of things coming full circle. Seeing how things were back in the Some Kind of Monster days and to the end of this video is really an incredible story to behold. Long live Metallica

When I am in the mood, I call for the drums, the drums tell the bass to get on it. I am the rhythm guitar, and the lead wood takes it up several notches.
The tribute to Cliff could have been better,like showing video footage of his bass solos would have been great or their are tons of photos that were taken of Cliff while he was in the band they could have shown while playing Orion in the back ground just like the ending of the Cliff'em all video, that would have been awesome.

people who cry about dave mustaine are the ones who cant get over him. lol. and he wrote more than just some riffs and solos. he wrote complete songs on the first album and another on the second album.
"He wasn't a big deal" is a huge understatement. Mustaine was rather instrumental for Metallica early on, having written a good bit of Kill em all and what not. He is not to be inducted with Metallica, but to dismiss him is rather ungrateful as a Metallica fan.
I don't understand how Jason ended up being only mentioned on a passing sentence. Jason is a MONSTER bass player who kept them afloat and in full steam after Cliff!
