I can't tell you how much I needed this video right now and how much I can relate... I was crying right along with you. I hope and keep praying I'll get to the point in recovery that you are now because after almost 12 years with dp/dr disorder I can't hardly stand it another day to not be able to function and to struggle through each day so much.
I'm so thankful I came across your video and that you shared your story of how you found the hope/purpose to keep going. 💕 I am at that point right now, trying to find a purpose...

Hi Traci, thank you so much for your time to watch my video and comment. It’s really scary putting this stuff out there but I cannot tell you how much your message has impacted me ❤️ I’m so sorry to hear of you’re experiencing this too the struggle is awful and I can completely relate to how you’re feeling, I was there too for many many years. I think for me finding purpose outside of myself was when my path started changing. Don’t get me wrong it’s a long road but it’s so worth it. Have you found any kind of improvement over the years or are there things you’ve tried to try and help? Sending you all the hope 🙏

Hi Taran, I’m so sorry to hear this. It is so difficult when things feel so bad but cling on to hope because there is a brighter future ahead. Anything that helps you get through the day and makes life that little bit bearable use that and slowly with time things will improve. Do little things to look after yourself and really take care of yourself at this time too. Speak to any friends family doctors or counsellors, eat healthy, exercise, meditate, journal, distract yourself with books or tv just to pass some time, watch something funny and never give up. You deserve the best life there is and it won’t be easy but you can do it

I have had drdp for about 4 years and it's such a scary thing to have. I often wondered how life is without it. It's been so long since everything felt normal but one thing that has helped me alot is mindfulness.
Before, I would go crazy questioning
if I'm even real or what not, but breathing and paying attention to the sounds around, feeling the sensation all over my body it helps me feel grounded. Also I don't know if this happens for you but I don't feel as detached when I close my eyes. I guess it's because I don't have to look at reality that im detached from i can just focus on the feelings in my body.
Anyhow I hope we can overcome this thing. I have tried to take a positive mindset about it and try to keep my head high. I thought about what the point of life is and if I should even still live, but what keeps me going is to know that I've had many more years without drdp then with it, so I gotta believe they'll be a day when I feel real again. If I don't have patience and end it all now, how will i know that I can recover.
Peace and blessings. I hope we can overcome these struggles ❤

That is such a lovely comment thank you so much for your time. That’s such a great point I hadn’t thought about before of if my eyes are closed do I feel more attached, I’m going to pay attention to that and see how it feels.
Are there any particular mindfulness practices you’d recommend or in general just paying more attention to the senses?
That’s such a great mindset you have I really believe we can do this!! Thank you so much for getting in touch it really means a lot ☺️

@@DominiqueRoweDriver Well I'm like you, still trying to find new things that help. Other than sensations in the body, I just try to keep calm and observe the negative thoughts and emotions. When I'm anxious telling myself negative things only makes it worse. I try to just be present in the moment because usually we're depressed/obsessed about the past and worried/anxious about the future. But those are just thoughts. Just be here in the now and what we could do right now. You've got to love yourself like a best friend, you would do anything for a best friend right? You wouldn't want to see them suffering, so i take that and apply it to myself and it definitely helps (: .

@@naji4510 you’re so positive I love it 😃 I totally agree!!! When I first got this I’d have it on and off and actually not paying attention to it really helped and then I’d suddenly realise I felt normal again and would forget what it felt like to feel detached so I’m certain that will happen again. Surround yourself with positivity and things that lift you up ☺️

Thank you, very honest and brave!
I have some questions: Are you able to live alone? And what's about relationships, is this possible for you in this condition?
I'm in this state since 2005 nonstop and it is really difficult...I try not to give up but sometimes all I can do is sleeping...
I'm in a relationship with someone who has it, too. I feel like I can't live alone because everything felt so strange and threatening and when I'm alone with myself it is more difficult to live with these “feelings“ und thoughts. I have obsessive thoughts as well...That means I feel very “unfree“ in my decisions through this condition...
Kind regards and hope from Germany

Hello, thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment. I did go through a stage where I lived alone I can’t remember exactly how long maybe a couple of years. I do find that being around others can be a helpful distraction as sometimes my own thoughts can spiral negatively or can focus on my symptoms which doesn’t help but I also need down time to recharge as I can get quite exhausted around people. The most important thing though was for me to feel safe so if it was living with someone I felt totally comfortable with then that was a positive but if it wasn’t then it was better for me to live by myself. I do believe that we can be in a relationship, the biggest thing for me has been to have someone I can be myself around, to be honest with each other and to talk about everything. How have you found it having a relationship with someone who also has this? I haven’t experienced that myself. You sound incredibly strong and don’t forget that. Keep moving forward and I really believe things can get better for us

Hi Lauren, so sorry to hear you have depersonalization it’s truly awful. I don’t have any experience with vestibular migraines, mine has been mainly triggered by stress/trauma. I remember how hard it was when I couldn’t find any cures for what I was experiencing though. I do know that for me even though no one could tell me I would get better, believing that I could and the hard work I’ve put in to build a better life for myself has resulted in things improving and my connection to myself and the world gradually gets better

@@laurenbaldwin6068 so sorry you’re in such a dark place. I really remember being in that place too questioning if things would change but honestly I am so much better than I used to be. It’s been hard work and I spent many years in therapy which has helped me so much. Therapy is something I dip in and out of now and it’s been so helpful. Have you tried it? Hi, I’ve just commented back to you. Sorry you’re suffering so much I can really relate. I think the main thing that’s helped me is believing I can get better and working on building a healthier life for myself. It took a lot time to see results but I really have. I used to have depersonalization and derealisation and now I rarely get depersonalization it’s more just the derealisation I have now but I’m getting shades to that too so there are definite improvements. I really hope things start improving for you very soon I know how awful it is to feel this way. You’re so strong though don’t forget that
