    This is awesome, thanks for taking the time to put it - saved a lot of guesswork on my side!

    Tony thank you for this helpful video. I finally switched from Multicast to Multisync. I did notice something not mentioned in the video that I ran into. In Xlights when configuring the controllers you left them set as "Active". In my case this made it so I was still sending out DDP Packets continuously over wifi to the props and still getting lag. After some diagnosing and help (Zoom Room Matt) I found that that setting needs to be changed to "Xlights Only". Setting it this way makes it so the FPP Master only sends the "Start", "Stop", and "Sync" commands. Thank you again for your video's they are extremely helpful.

      Yes. You are correct. Actually I found that out later after creating the video but never updated the comments.

    So can I not run four dig quads with AE+ SD cards and make one master and the others remote? I'm not quite clear in your diagram of what the Master FPP is. Is this the FPP on your browser sending synch packets? Thanks.

    • @thechristmaslightguy
      @thechristmaslightguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my diagram, the "Master FPP Falcon Player V5.5" is a Raspberry PI with FPP installed. It is sending the multisync packets. My laptop with browser is used to show the web interface on the Master FPP.
      DIG QUAD with AE+ SD Cards do not support FPP Master mode, only remote mode. You will need device (PI/Computer) / controller (Kulp) running FPP.

    Should output to lights be on when uploading to the espixelstick? Getting nothing when I play the fseq file.
    Followed every step closely and checked all the other comments. I can see it playing the fseq files but nothing on the LEDs. Tested and working LEDs, checked everything is OK, I suspect there is no data in the fseq file.
    Feel like I've missed something obvious, any suggestions seriously welcome 🙏

      Are you getting output when you drive the ESPixelStick with xLights? Check the sequence version in xLights "Preferences." Open xLights, go to xLights menu -> "Preferences" -> "Sequences" -> "FSEQ Version" -> set to "V2 Uncompressed" then upload sequence again to ESPixelStick

    You use 16gig sd cards in each stick. Do you know if that big of SD card is required? How much space have you seen your longer sequences use?

    • @thechristmaslightguy
      @thechristmaslightguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. You can use smaller SD cards (8g 0r 4g) without any issue but it depends on how many sequences you have in your playlist or uploaded to the ESPixelStick. My largest sequence is about 50MB.

    • @KennyF
      @KennyF 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thechristmaslightguy thanks for the info! If your largest is at 50 mb could the SD card be even smaller like 1gig or under? I'm new to these and am not sure if there's more on the SD cards then just the sequences that require space

    • @thechristmaslightguy
      @thechristmaslightguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KennyF Yes. It is possible but once again depends on how big your sequences are and how many you have. I don't believe there is anything stored on the SD card other than the sequences.

    Thanks a lot to share, a question, how many universes can be handled with espixelstick in DDP mode, I already have the outputs configured in my FPP in DDP mode but it only executes one universe per espixelstick, when I put it in E1.31 unicast mode all universes work, any configuration that I am missing? thanks in advance

    • @thechristmaslightguy
      @thechristmaslightguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you upload the media (sequence) to the FPP using "FPP Connect" try setting the "UDP Out" option to "All". This should configure the FPP output channels correctly.
      The ESPixelStick can drive 800 pixels at 25ms refresh which is almost 5 universes, but this will require power injection.

    • @xmaspixel
      @xmaspixel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I already tried but I can't have more than 1 universe by esp32

    seeing as how the ESPixelStick: is not available for purchase would I be able to purchase a D1 Mini Pro and a Micro SD Card Shield D1 Mini TF ? Would that work the same ?

      Yes. In theory it should work but I have never tried it. How many ESPixelSticks do you need? I have some extra that I would sell you. Contact me directly on Discord: "thechristmaslightguy" or on FB: "TonyLKeith"

    This is great. How often does the master send sync packets? Basically I'm wondering what would happen if the wifi dropped. Would they keep going and reconnect to the master of the wifi came back up.

    • @thechristmaslightguy
      @thechristmaslightguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the current sequence will keep playing without the sync commands. Once the WIFI came back up, the master would start sending sync commands and the ESPixelStick would "catch" up to master.

    Finally got everything setup, 13 essticks and fpp connect setup but sticks read "idle" when I play sequences through fpp interface. The fpp pi shows it's playing sequence, playlist but nothing plays of sticks. I have verified all sequence files have transferred to each esstick but nothing plays. Able to play sequences direct from xlights still, very copy, of course.
    Thanks for all the help, feel like I'm really close to completion here!

      Are the ESPixelSticks in "FPP Remote" mode? Check the FPP Mult-Sync page for the "Mode".

    • @thechristmaslightguy
      @thechristmaslightguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check "FPP Settings" -> "System" on FPP. Make sure "Send MultSync Packets" are enabled.

    I have a question on Xlight, how do you set up a matrix using 16x16 matrix panels I have 8 of them and I would like to make a 64x32 matrix but I can't figure out how to set it up on Xlight. Thanks for all the videos it helps a lot. I'm using esp32 with six ports running espixestick 4.3.

    can this be used for landscape lighting?

    • @thechristmaslightguy
      @thechristmaslightguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I have used a ESPixelStick to control my LED landscape lights that I retrofitted with LED Pixels. The only downside is the ESPixelStick doesn't have a scheduler. You will need to use an FPP to schedule when the ESPixelStick should run or I did it a slightly different way. I used the existing timer from my landscape lighting. The timer turns on/off the lights by turning on/off the power. I set the ESPixelStick to play an uploaded sequence automatically when it was powered up. My sequence cycled the lights slowly through several colors then repeated.
      See my video titled "ESPixelStick Firmware V4, Running Uploaded Sequences" th-cam.com/video/S9NcJOeuHBY/w-d-xo.html for more information about playing uploaded sequences.

    First timer here. Thank you for the video. I am trying to run 10 x espixel in this way and want to get one working correctly before I set up the rest. I have access wirelessly to es through ip but cannot move forward with "visualize" step, "upload output". Do you have any idea why these options might be grayed out in xlights? Thank you for the help

    Trying to setup a pixelstick can't get it to recognize the sd card

    • @thechristmaslightguy
      @thechristmaslightguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure the SD card is formatted properly (FAT) and inserted the correct way (facing down). When the SD card is detected a new menu option called "file management" will appear.
