Self-reliance simply means.......Relying on our own available natural resources, which is more valuable than the value of money, through good design making it work for us, working less by letting nature work for us.

Thanks for sharing Jon. I saw your video on how you built soil by bringing in branches and straw your neighbors were going to burn. Do you still rely on this biomass from your neighbors or are you now self sufficient in biomass? If so, how many years did it take to no longer need to bring in biomass from the outside? I have been living off grid in Panama for the last four years and trying to grow all my own food as sustainably and self sufficiently.
"Self-reliant" by definition means, "Reliant on one's own powers and resources rather than those of others." What I believe you're trying to say is that we can make use of everything around us, but ultimately, we ought to be reliant upon ourselves. I totally agree, Jon.

It's called communal living. Preppers not only practice " isolation " but they also take care of security. They call those people who don't prepare " zombies " You have to think of security not only in terms of self reliant but also how to protect yourself from zombies when the global financial system collapse.
Besides, relying on one's little self is absurd. One can't even exist for few minutes without air that nature provides. We are completely reliant. Rather rely on nature that never lies, never deceives, always provides - abundantly.
