While you might think that is the case, try putting both the phones next to each other and try it again. The results will actually surprise you. Especially the camera! The differences really do add up, however it isn't noticeable right off the bat. However it is true that wireless charging and water resistance are very key features of the newer iPhones as well.

That is true. I do feel like there is too much of a gap between the 64 & 256GB variants. However I do feel like it is a good deal for those who want higher storage, because instead of having to pay $200 extra, they now only have to pay $150. So it really comes down to how much you really need. I think that the 64GB is more than enough more most people, and only heavy power users need more than that.

I hate that the 8plus only have the 64gb or 256gb options 64 to me is not enough and 256 is a bit too much. While the 7plus has the 128gb option I will never get a 32gb phone again like I did with my 5s not enough room at all

Yeah that makes sense. Both phones are very similar, with only a few things to differentiate them. Most people wouldn't be able to even take advantage of the 8 Plus' features.
I upgraded from 7 Plus to 8 Plus due to my contract up for renewal. Although both phones are identical in design it does have some huge differences. The 8 Plus speakers is really one of the loudest I have heard. It is much louder than the 7plus. Battery life on the 8 Plus is also much better thanks to the new A11 processor. Lastly is fast charging. Yes you need to buy a separate charger for it but fast charging an iphone is truly great. I easily get 40% extra battery life in less than half an hour of charging. If you want the best iphone now but don’t like the iPhone X than the 8plus is a great choice. It might be Apple last touchID iphone.

No need to get hostile my man. The speakers are really close to each other in the test, however in person the 8 Plus does have more bass and a deeper effect if that makes sense. Audio tests are tough because you really can't demonstrate all the aspects of a speaker on video. While there isn't a big difference, anyone who's used a 7 Plus will definitely be able to identify the difference if they were to hear the 8 Plus.
I have the jet black 7 plus and the back is still with no scratches and still looks beautiful...idk if I’m the only one but I’m not a fan of the space grey it doesn’t look as good as the jet black

Not to mention that people do enjoy watching the experience of buying a new device and opening it up for the first time. Just look at Unbox Therapy, he built his channel completely on the basis of unboxing items. So there is definitely a market out there for these unboxing videos.

I have the 7 plus in jet black and it’s still my daily. It’s in mint condition after 4 years. The only negative is that the first case I bought for it stained my phone, (the back) it was so devastating man. But it’s still a great phone til this day.
The one thing Apple does better than anyone else is build their phones to last both in terms of software and hardware. I also feel your pain man, whenever my phones get even the slightest scratch I get so bummed out and stressed. It's why I only stick to known case brands and styles. I don't want to take any risks.
Get the iPhone 8 Plus! There is no Jet Black option for the iPhone 8 Plus. It comes in Space Gray instead as seen in this video. I would honestly recommend staying away from the Jet Black because they scratch way too easily.
I'm so thankful for this video cause I have an had android for far too long and have decided to switch to iphone.. It's the smartest decision to buy the newest phone you can find in your budget. There are always new phones right around the corner, so buying the newest one doesn't do much unless you decided to buy a new one every year. Personally I would recommend the Black. It’s the best looking one in my opinion and requires the least amount of care. The silver is a nice option too, it’s very clean and sleek. Honestly can’t go wrong with any color on this phone!

The battery is a relatively inexpensive, so it's something I wouldn't worry about too much. Plus at 90 or 80% it's not going to be too long before you'll want to get a replacement. I would definitely recommend the iPhone 8 Plus over the 7 Plus in this situation. Do look over the 8 Plus carefully to make sure the cameras, speakers, display, buttons, and other features are all working since it doesn't have a guarantee. The reason why I recommend the 8 Plus is because it has a better processor and since the 7 Plus is already 4 years old, it is slowly starting to show its age. You'll get more life out of the 8 Plus if you buy it and replace the battery.

Lessons learned: If you have the 7 or the 7Plus then don’t bother upgrade to the 8 or 8Plus. If you have the 6Splus or older then it is worth to upgrade to the 8 or 8Plus if you still want to use the home button
It depends on 2 things: 1. How much space does your current phone have, and how much of it have you used up? 2. Do you plan on filming a lot of 4K video on the phone? Let me know so I can suggest the right phone for you.
Depends on how much space you are using on your current phone. Unless you have 45+ GB of data on your current phone, the 64GB 8 Plus will be more than enough! Also if you aren't in a rush I would suggest to wait for a couple of months because the new iPhones are just around the corner!
Honestly the 7 Plus is a great phone. If you can't stretch your budget it's fine because the 7 Plus offers almost 85% of the 8 Plus. So it's not that big of a deal. However since you are on the 6S, I am not sure if you will be comfortable with the size jump. Just try out the 7 Plus at a store and see if it comfortable fits your hands and pockets. If the size is not comfortable, the iPhone 8 is probably the best option!
I wouldn’t say the X has all the better stuff in it. I returned my X for the 8 plus. I hated the X. The screen was so narrow and when watching a video the screen size was similar to a regular sized iPhone. If I zoomed in the notch was so obtrusive imo. Some people love the 8 plus. Not everyone wants the X.
I definitely agree with you! I didn't notice how much better the wider screen on the 8 Plus was until I switched back to it after a month of using the iPhone X. The wide screen really does make it feel like it has a larger screen of the two. I also do find the notch to be absolutely infuriating while trying to watch videos on the phone. The thing is though I've just kinda learned to ignore it because the OLED screen really does make it for it in my opinion.
it really does. you don't seem to notice the extra height on the screen on the x but you really miss the width. reviewers of the X tend not to mention this. they concentrate on how tall the x is. plus a lot of that is cropped in apps that haven't been optimised.
just a question I'm planning on getting the 7 plus and I heared that the update kinda fucks up the battery so when I buy it should I ask if it's ios 10 or since it's new it just won't have the update
The update *USED TO SLOW DOWN* phones, but Apple has pushed a new update (11.3) which given you the control over whether or not you want reduced performance in favor of preserving battery life. Also the slow downs only affect phones that have bad batteries and a new phone will not have any slow down issues.
@@Ridaibrar11 At this point, I would 100% suggest the iPhone 8 Plus. It has a much better processor compared to the iPhone 7 Plus. It also has better camera features such as 4K 60fps recording.
+Mark Cruz my personal preference is a clear scratch guard or skin with a case. I always used a case as well to be extra safe and I never had an issue with scratching on my 7 Plus. However either one should be more than enough to protect the phone from those micro abrasions.
Mark Cruz There will be scratches, even if you use a case. I had mine in a case since I bought it and then took it out of the case like 4 months after and there was a visible scratch. I think it’s from dust or whatever.
At this point in the game, I would highly recommend going for the iPhone 8 Plus over the iPhone 7 Plus. There are camera improvements and a better processor as well.
As other comments have suggested the 7 Plus does have a very identical camera setup, I would still suggest that the 8 Plus is a better option in 2019. If you have the ability to wait and save up, I would recommend the 8 Plus. Why I recommend it over the 7 Plus is because it has a newer processor and some improved camera modes that will really age better compared to the 7 Plus. However, the 7 Plus isn't bad at all either. Whichever one you choose, you can't go wrong.

Definitely go for the 8 Plus. While the glass is less durable compared to the aluminum back the performance improvements make up for it. Just get a clear case for your phone and you won’t have to worry about breaking the glass! Thanks for the support from Jamaica!
I would not recommend it at this point unless you only plan on using it very short term. Software support is most likely to end within a year, and this phone is now running a 4 year old processor which will start to show it's age. The iPhone 8 Plus or XR would be a much better buy in my opinion.
I have the 8 not plus. All you have to do is buy a cover for the glass..I got a Transparent rubber or silicone I don’t know what it is, but it is tested at 10 foot drop survivability. You can still see the Apple emblem since its transparent, for those of you who want to show of the Apple logo. I got mine free with my 8 iPhone purchase from my Carrier .. so I didn’t have a choice but a transparent protector. Plus I got a free screen protector which I recommend..it’s very tricky to put on because no dirt can be in between.. its hard to install because of that, but it’s worth the trouble. Plus I love that is water proof phone.if the screen protector gets dirty just wash it out with alcohol, I use a spray bottle and 91% alcohol so it can dry fast. Do not put it in front of the fan or blow dryer because it will collect dust or lint, just let it dry by itself, then try again to put it on.. of course don’t forget to clean the phone screen before putting it on.

Depends on how long you are planning on using the phone. If you only plan on using the phone for about a year the 7 should be fine. If you plan on keeping it any longer go for the 8 Plus it'll be worth it.

Be warned that apps like Snapchat and Instagram have a habit of chewing through battery though, so if you use them for the entire day you may end up needing another charge, but for normal usage you should be fine.
They are both really good phones, and you couldn't go wrong with either. However, in my opinion if you can afford it the iPhone 8 Plus is the best choice! It is a very good phone, and will serve you well!
I think that the Belkin and Samsung wireless chargers are really good. There are also some really good ones from Aukey and Anker, which have some really interesting design.

Yes, the changes between the 7 & 8 Plus aren't that big. However between the 7 Plus and the X is a different story. Yet, I can see what you mean by the 7 Plus being a "better" phone. It's definitely a better value in comparison the iPhone X considering you get a lot of the features of the iPhone X, in the 8 Plus/7 Plus.
While I can understand color being an important factor to the buying decision, don’t let it affect the phone you want to get. I would say get the 8 Plus. The Silver 8 Plus looks even better than the 7 in my opinion!

Yes I did! Thank you for pointing that out. The day I shot these camera samples, I was alone and had no one helping out. Which meant that I couldn't really take any portrait photos at that time. However if you were wondering how they compare (I've taken many afterwards), they are EXACTLY THE SAME! The portrait modes between the 7 and 8 Plus are really hard to tell apart.

The Matte Black is a lot easier to keep clean and free from scratches and you don't have to worry too much about fingerprints/smudges. The Jet Black does look a lot more exclusive and has a unique look but it does scratch very easily and will show fingerprints a lot more. If you can take care of the Jet Black, it definitely has a very appealing look and does look really good with a clear case. If you don't think you'll be able to keep the Jet Black clean, stay away from it because it will get scratched up very easily.
Buy the 8 Plus. It has the newer processor and will get software updates for longer. In fact I also recommend the new iPhone SE which is in the same price bracket but is much more updated and modern in terms of processor and camera capabilities.

The XS does have the better camera! I think that you will find that the swipe functionality isn't actually that bad. It will take a few days to get used to, but once you're used to it, it's fantastic. I personally would not go back to the button based system, even though I really liked it too!
It all depends on what your budget is. If you can stretch your budget to afford the iPhone X, you'll most definitely like it. If you can't stretch it that much I would say that at this point the 8 Plus is also a very good choice and you get almost everything you get out of the iPhone X in it barring the display and front portrait mode features. Unless you get the iPhone 7 Plus for a crazy good price, I think at this point it isn't the Best Buy. It is older and will definitely perform worse than the 8 Plus/X as time goes on and we get more software updates.

They’re both mostly similar. I would definitely recommend sticking to the 8 however. The iPhone 8 supports fast charging and wireless charging as well which will make it a lot easier to top up when you’re running low on juice. Also it’s newer and has a much better processor than the iPhone 7, so it will perform better as time goes on.

That is quite a dilemma! I'm going to make things worse here before I make them better. There is most likely going to be a new iPhone SE that will be announced in 2-3 weeks. So in my opinion you have 4 choices not 3: The 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, & 2018 SE. One thing that is important is how much you are willing to spend, and what size you find the most comfortable. If you are looking for a smaller and lighter phone, stick with the iPhone 8 and 2018 SE. If you are okay with the larger size, and want the larger display I personally think that it is wiser to go with the iPhone 8 Plus because it has an excellent processor and a very good display. Let me know if you have more questions!
If you haven't bought the phone yet, I would recommend the 8 simply because it's got a better processor. It will age a lot better than the 7, so if you plan on keeping the phone for a while it'll be the right move.

A person who has some money to burn would buy the iPhone 8 which is more fancier due to the glass and the iPhone X would have been more suitable for a person who uses the best gadgets of all

Not to mention that people do enjoy watching the experience of buying a new device and opening it up for the first time. Just look at Unbox Therapy, he built his channel completely on the basis of unboxing items. So there is definitely a market out there for these unboxing videos.

I have the 7 plus in jet black and it’s still my daily. It’s in mint condition after 4 years. The only negative is that the first case I bought for it stained my phone, (the back) it was so devastating man. But it’s still a great phone til this day.
The one thing Apple does better than anyone else is build their phones to last both in terms of software and hardware. I also feel your pain man, whenever my phones get even the slightest scratch I get so bummed out and stressed. It's why I only stick to known case brands and styles. I don't want to take any risks.

Get the iPhone 8 Plus! There is no Jet Black option for the iPhone 8 Plus. It comes in Space Gray instead as seen in this video. I would honestly recommend staying away from the Jet Black because they scratch way too easily.
I'm so thankful for this video cause I have an had android for far too long and have decided to switch to iphone.. I have ALWAYS thought "oooow the newest version is the better version" BUTTT after watching this video I have realized that newest is not always better... it's obviously cheaper to go for a 7 plus especially now a couple years later after this video! It's the smartest decision to buy the newest phone you can find in your budget. There are always new phones right around the corner, so buying the newest one doesn't do much unless you decided to buy a new one every year.

Personally I would recommend the Black. It’s the best looking one in my opinion and requires the least amount of care. The silver is a nice option too, it’s very clean and sleek. Honestly can’t go wrong with any color on this phone!

The battery is a relatively inexpensive, so it's something I wouldn't worry about too much. Plus at 90 or 80% it's not going to be too long before you'll want to get a replacement.
I would definitely recommend the iPhone 8 Plus over the 7 Plus in this situation. Do look over the 8 Plus carefully to make sure the cameras, speakers, display, buttons, and other features are all working since it doesn't have a guarantee. The reason why I recommend the 8 Plus is because it has a better processor and since the 7 Plus is already 4 years old, it is slowly starting to show its age. You'll get more life out of the 8 Plus if you buy it and replace the battery.

Lessons learned: If you have the 7 or the 7Plus then don’t bother upgrade to the 8 or 8Plus. If you have the 6Splus or older then it is worth to upgrade to the 8 or 8Plus if you still want to use the home button

Depends on how much space you are using on your current phone. Unless you have 45+ GB of data on your current phone, the 64GB 8 Plus will be more than enough!
Also if you aren't in a rush I would suggest to wait for a couple of months because the new iPhones are just around the corner!

Honestly the 7 Plus is a great phone. If you can't stretch your budget it's fine because the 7 Plus offers almost 85% of the 8 Plus. So it's not that big of a deal. However since you are on the 6S, I am not sure if you will be comfortable with the size jump. Just try out the 7 Plus at a store and see if it comfortable fits your hands and pockets. If the size is not comfortable, the iPhone 8 is probably the best option!

I wouldn’t say the X has all the better stuff in it. I returned my X for the 8 plus. I hated the X. The screen was so narrow and when watching a video the screen size was similar to a regular sized iPhone. If I zoomed in the notch was so obtrusive imo. Some people love the 8 plus. Not everyone wants the X.

I didn't notice how much better the wider screen on the 8 Plus was until I switched back to it after a month of using the iPhone X. The wide screen really does make it feel like it has a larger screen of the two.
I also do find the notch to be absolutely infuriating while trying to watch videos on the phone. The thing is though I've just kinda learned to ignore it because the OLED screen really does make it for it in my opinion.
it really does. you don't seem to notice the extra height on the screen on the x but you really miss the width. reviewers of the X tend not to mention this. they concentrate on how tall the x is. plus a lot of that is cropped in apps that haven't been optimised.

just a question I'm planning on getting the 7 plus and I heared that the update kinda fucks up the battery so when I buy it should I ask if it's ios 10 or since it's new it just won't have the update
The update *USED TO SLOW DOWN* phones, but Apple has pushed a new update (11.3) which given you the control over whether or not you want reduced performance in favor of preserving battery life.
Also the slow downs only affect phones that have bad batteries and a new phone will not have any slow down issues.

+Mark Cruz my personal preference is a clear scratch guard or skin with a case. I always used a case as well to be extra safe and I never had an issue with scratching on my 7 Plus.
However either one should be more than enough to protect the phone from those micro abrasions.

As other comments have suggested the 7 Plus does have a very identical camera setup, I would still suggest that the 8 Plus is a better option in 2019. If you have the ability to wait and save up, I would recommend the 8 Plus. Why I recommend it over the 7 Plus is because it has a newer processor and some improved camera modes that will really age better compared to the 7 Plus.
However, the 7 Plus isn't bad at all either. Whichever one you choose, you can't go wrong.

Definitely go for the 8 Plus. While the glass is less durable compared to the aluminum back the performance improvements make up for it.

I would not recommend it at this point unless you only plan on using it very short term. Software support is most likely to end within a year, and this phone is now running a 4 year old processor which will start to show it's age. The iPhone 8 Plus or XR would be a much better buy in my opinion.

I have the 8 not plus. All you have to do is buy a cover for the glass..I got a Transparent rubber or silicone I don’t know what it is, but it is tested at 10 foot drop survivability. You can still see the Apple emblem since its transparent, for those of you who want to show of the Apple logo. I got mine free with my 8 iPhone purchase from my Carrier .. so I didn’t have a choice but a transparent protector. Plus I got a free screen protector which I recommend..it’s very tricky to put on because no dirt can be in between.. its hard to install because of that, but it’s worth the trouble. Plus I love that is water proof phone.if the screen protector gets dirty just wash it out with alcohol, I use a spray bottle and 91% alcohol so it can dry fast. Do not put it in front of the fan or blow dryer because it will collect dust or lint, just let it dry by itself, then try again to put it on.. of course don’t forget to clean the phone screen before putting it on.

Depends on how long you are planning on using the phone. If you only plan on using the phone for about a year the 7 should be fine. If you plan on keeping it any longer go for the 8 Plus it'll be worth it.

Be warned that apps like Snapchat and Instagram have a habit of chewing through battery though, so if you use them for the entire day you may end up needing another charge, but for normal usage you should be fine.

Yes, the changes between the 7 & 8 Plus aren't that big.
However between the 7 Plus and the X is a different story. Yet, I can see what you mean by the 7 Plus being a "better" phone. It's definitely a better value in comparison the iPhone X considering you get a lot of the features of the iPhone X, in the 8 Plus/7 Plus.

The day I shot these camera samples, I was alone and had no one helping out. Which meant that I couldn't really take any portrait photos at that time. However if you were wondering how they compare (I've taken many afterwards), they are EXACTLY THE SAME! The portrait modes between the 7 and 8 Plus are really hard to tell apart.

The Matte Black is a lot easier to keep clean and free from scratches and you don't have to worry too much about fingerprints/smudges.
The Jet Black does look a lot more exclusive and has a unique look but it does scratch very easily and will show fingerprints a lot more.
If you can take care of the Jet Black, it definitely has a very appealing look and does look really good with a clear case. If you don't think you'll be able to keep the Jet Black clean, stay away from it because it will get scratched up very easily.

The XS does have the better camera! I think that you will find that the swipe functionality isn't actually that bad. It will take a few days to get used to, but once you're used to it, it's fantastic. I personally would not go back to the button based system, even though I really liked it too!

It all depends on what your budget is. If you can stretch your budget to afford the iPhone X, you'll most definitely like it. If you can't stretch it that much I would say that at this point the 8 Plus is also a very good choice and you get almost everything you get out of the iPhone X in it barring the display and front portrait mode features.
Unless you get the iPhone 7 Plus for a crazy good price, I think at this point it isn't the Best Buy. It is older and will definitely perform worse than the 8 Plus/X as time goes on and we get more software updates.

They’re both mostly similar. I would definitely recommend sticking to the 8 however. The iPhone 8 supports fast charging and wireless charging as well which will make it a lot easier to top up when you’re running low on juice. Also it’s newer and has a much better processor than the iPhone 7, so it will perform better as time goes on.

That is quite a dilemma! I'm going to make things worse here before I make them better. There is most likely going to be a new iPhone SE that will be announced in 2-3 weeks.
So in my opinion you have 4 choices not 3: The 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, & 2018 SE.
One thing that is important is how much you are willing to spend, and what size you find the most comfortable.
If you are looking for a smaller and lighter phone, stick with the iPhone 8 and 2018 SE. If you are okay with the larger size, and want the larger display I personally think that it is wiser to go with the iPhone 8 Plus because it has an excellent processor and a very good display.

If you haven't bought the phone yet, I would recommend the 8 simply because it's got a better processor. It will age a lot better than the 7, so if you plan on keeping the phone for a while it'll be the right move.

Yes! I would absolutely recommend the 8 Plus! It's a great phone, however there isn't a big difference in looks/feel between the 6 Plus and 8 Plus, so set your expectations accordingly.
