Liverpool literally had one of the worst VAR calls fuck them earlier in the season. TWO red cards and the most clearest onside goal ever ruled out yet ONE decision goes their way and suddenly everyone turns into extremely bitter, petty 'pundits'. Liverpool BATTERED newcastle and deserved the win. Gakpo and Jota made such a difference too.

The outcry after the Jota pen is just weird. If you know anything about playing football you know that having you foot clipped at full speed like that knocks you out of balance. Jota could’ve stayed up, but would’ve probably been slowed down enough so the chance would’ve slipped away. He therefore had to fall just to illustrate the contact. It might be soft, but it is by no means a clear wrong decison. Crying this much about it when you were lucky to not lose by 5-6 is just embarrassing.
Objectively, the worst decison the ref made last night was Joelinton not recieving a yellow after he stopped that counter. He should’ve been sent off overall.

i think jota thought he took too big a touch around the keeper so when he felt contact he thought he’d rather a pen than a chance to maybe not score. If you’ve seen it once or twice you’d think just finish it but if u watch in full speed he looks at the defenders sprinting to the line aswell. I remember nunez went round the keeper last season and a defender came out of nowhere and saved it off the line

About about the game a few seasons ago where the Newcastle keeper literally wraps both his arms around Mane's leg, Mane doesn't go down to chase the ball, but he is impeded enough that the chance to score slips away. Is that not a pen? A goalkeeper making contact on a player first without touching the ball which denies a goal scoring opportunity is a pen all day. Hypocrisy
Jota did not dive, he was in full sprint when Dubravka touched his foot. And yes he could've kept going, but if he went to ground later after trying to keep running after the ball and not being able to because of loss of balance, then the ref wouldn't have given it.

In high speed it might be a little stumbly steps before he falls but, Did he go down easy? yes, but if he didnt and run to the ball missed a shot, his shot get blocked/saved its not a penalty or a goal
