Its great to see that Wynton was a good, humble kid when he got successful. He really inspires kids with his willingness and humbleness. Shout out to ma man Wynton!
Absolutely amazing. This is the music that actually has some soul not the stuff we typically get now (not all is bad but most is the same over and over).
Marcus Roberts is a genius. He plays better Stride than anyone today. And better Ragtime, and better Blues, and better Latin. He's the most complete Pianist of our time.
I had to watch stuff like this for a music assignment cuz i play trumpet and when he started pkaying my jaw dropped and half way through it im like if this guy isnt dead i would like to meet him!!!!
+Bernard Dandault The little girl in the pink "get's it". There is hope for the future. la petite fille dans le rose , le comprend. il ya de l'espoir pour l'avenir !
One of my favorite things about his playing is how dark and reserved his sound is. I often play very brightly especially in attempting to sound like Harry James or Louis, but wynton rebels against that classic bright jazz soloist sound and makes a pretty unique darkness work so well
The Music is perfect. No doubt about that! Even as interesting to notice the difference in body-language of the children listening and watching. One girl seems SWING in herself .... some others listen as if there is no Swing at all........amazing diferences between these children. Artists is ONE ..... Audience is TWO.
+Peyton Johnson Clip is from 1995, Wynton and those he works with are from a caliber of musician that harkens back to the Legends of Jazz history and this is reminiscent of the jazz fusion movement in that decade (Canadian Brass) and the one that preceded it including those who worked with Dizzy Gillespie (united nations orchestra: Danilo Perez ~1982) Mistakenly thought this was a PBS clip from sesame street or something..
Still have a pic of one of the RAJA trumpets on my web page.! I think many were made with solid gold in the fused parts. Excellent playing, except for the valves clacking, maybe that was intentional b/c no drummer?
That Monette was probably days from a tune up, either that, or the top valve screw came loose a little. You shouldn't get *ANY* unwanted noise from a $20,000 (ballpark?) trumpet.
Could someone please tell me what that kind of Trumpet is and what makes it different to a standard one? It defianately looks different to the one's ive seen

John Alvarez lol humble
Humble? You obviously haven't been following him very much.
Fantastic that he doesn't cut out that tango intro- arguably one of the most integral, and certainly one of the "bluest" parts of the song.
The girl in red gets it.
Wow I would like to have been a kid listening to such great music!👏👍🎼
Absolutely amazing. This is the music that actually has some soul not the stuff we typically get now (not all is bad but most is the same over and over).
Jazz has no boundaries, Jazz like the white and black. This is our Unity! Luck for All!

Maria Arriagada Lo mismo digo Maria, besos.

STEPHANIE TRICK, PAOLO ALFERIGHI, NEVILLE DICKIE, DICK HYMAN, and lots more! If you feel Marcus is "best "check these out and others!
Even if you don't know a damned thing about music, you still know you're listening to genius.
I had to watch stuff like this for a music assignment cuz i play trumpet and when he started pkaying my jaw dropped and half way through it im like if this guy isnt dead i would like to meet him!!!!
Love this ... specially the articulation and licks.... amazing 😉
BET? Wow, it has changed a lot in the last two decades.
Thats great to hear! And yes indeed Wynton is still alive and well. Infact today is his 51st birthday! Glad you enjoy!

Wow what an exceptional way to spend your time - teaching kids the love of music. Will God bless you or what?!
What wonderful musicians they both are! Thank you for posting!
Damn Marcus! Blew these kids minds
+Bernard Dandault The little girl in the pink "get's it". There is hope for the future.

Hell yeah man, that one little girl is FEELIN IT!
One of my favorite things about his playing is how dark and reserved his sound is. I often play very brightly especially in attempting to sound like Harry James or Louis, but wynton rebels against that classic bright jazz soloist sound and makes a pretty unique darkness work so well
I love this song
Amazing
For the money they cost you`d think Monette could make quieter valves....CLACK CLACK Blues.
57dogsbody it's mainly hitting them so hard, not because he has too, but it adds to the emotion of the blues
I enjoy a lot that, sounds like a washboard or some coconut shells...
The mic that’s hooked on his sweater probably picked it up more than it’d actually sound live.
@@jazzdorefree194 Get a cheap Jean-Batiste and have some clacky valve fun for less than $150.
Never noticed them.quit moanen....and enjoy the music
Beautiful! Thank you for posting
FOR THE BABIES-SAVE THE BABIES!
SHEEEEEESH! I love that. Great musicians, and Marcus Roberts gets a special mention!
The man himself , the great trumpeter form The Marsalis family . Wat a tune ?
So good. !!!
The essence of music
Winton toujours génial
Bruno
Great to see a stride left hand in a modern player!
Winton Marsallis is in a class of his own. I think he went to Juiliard!
So did Miles Davis.. but he dropped out. It was too "white" for him.
The Music is perfect. No doubt about that!
Even as interesting to notice the difference in body-language of the children listening and watching.
One girl seems SWING in herself .... some others listen as if there is no Swing at all........amazing diferences between these children.

I loved it!
Marcus roberts is wearing a watch but is also blind
BRAVO!!!
Marcus Roberts got so abstract on them lol
+Peyton Johnson

Taka muzykę można słuchać w każdym wieku
some lucky kids!
Still have a pic of one of the RAJA trumpets on my web page.!

Wow amazing
Its made by monette. Now he uses the raja III also made by monette. The fins on it reduce vibration.
I love it when the little girl jumps up at 1:21
beautifull
This is my music home work lol
marcus roberts going all abstract on those kids haha
He‘s so cool
Start 'em young.
ahahaa marcus going very abstract on that kids
@cjl1089 It's a Monette trumpet. I believe it may be one of the RAJA models.
Like it , a little Louis and Bix thrown in for good measure . " Ha Cha !"
That mic was too close to the valve
Casing. It picked up too much clatter from the valves. Otherwise, a magnificent performance by the Maestro.
That Monette was probably days from a tune up, either that, or the top valve screw came loose a little. You shouldn't get *ANY* unwanted noise from a $20,000 (ballpark?) trumpet.
👍
@kingoliver45 This interesting. I always thought it was because of the way recordings were done (obviously less sound quality).
Swing it good
Nice rhythmical interplay 1.58. :-)
It must be the way the horn is miked (it had better be- that horn is a Monette, and it costs more than your car- well, more than mine, anyhow)
owww yeah!!!
First time these kids heard music without a drum track!
He probally doesn't play on that monette horn anymore because the damn thing weighed almost 10Ibs. Try holding that through a 3hr gig!
nice
teaching the cats of the future about swing... thats what im talking about :)
It's a regular Bb trumpet. it's a Monette Prana Ajna..
Does anybody know were id find a trumpet like that?
Marcus Roberts does
thats one of the first monette trumpets from the nineties
Could someone please tell me what that kind of Trumpet is and what makes it different to a standard one? It defianately looks different to the one's ive seen
@cjl1089 he tore apart C-3PO and made it out of his parts...
How come that sounds muted when I can't see the mute?
@cjl1089 look up Monette trumpet
What kinda trumpet he playing
@cjl1089 He forged it out of the lava in Mordor...
cute
Cartigans, wow whatever happened to them needs to stay happened to them. I used to wear one very similar to Wyntons (sweater).
Love the rhythm and contrast, I dont that s the type of swing he wanted the kids too feel loll
0:12 - "y'all ready to swing?" ... 0:21 - doesnt play swing.
Starts at 0:51 .
Well it’s swing but it’s a different kind
ok
@cjl1089 Heaven...
Hey, at least that one girl was feeling it. Maybe the other kids were just too enraptured?
@cjl1089 craiglist...
what the freak kind of trumpet is that
Tulee mieleen 50 luku kun tätätä kuuli
it sux that he couldn't play that live
The most rattly valves ever. I thought my horn was bad....
