Last time I moved I used my clothes to wrap all my plates and cups. This saves wrapping paper and also you can't put as many plates in one box because clothes are bulkier than paper and therefore the boxes don't get too heavy ;)
When I moved from a house to an apartment I decluttered like CRAZY! I probably donated about half of my possessions and I still have too much but my new craft room turned out great and is so neat and organized now. Congratulations on your move!!
Use the graduation rope and repurpose them as curtain holders! (Like keep the same length of them and everything but that way you can use them as a functional display)

If you know in advance that you’re moving, start decluttering! Truth is, most of us have things we don’t really need. If you do it slowly and far in advance, it’s more manageable. Plus, you don’t need to carry as much to your new place.
yes and i typically declutter 3x when moving. once before packing, 2nd time while packing up boxes, and 3rd while unpacking. it helps tremendously! last time i had to move in less than a week and i just threw everything into boxes as it was and it sucked trying to declutter while unpacking and there was so much trash in my brand new home 😭
Another tip from me is to make a list: so, even though you have written the big content on the box, you also have more details on your list. If the box says ‘knitting’, then it’s extremely useful to put something like ‘balls of wool, knitting machine and amigurumi’ on your list, so you know where to find things, especially if you have several boxes of similar items. A bit like ‘kitchen and food’ would not be sufficient. You’d have food and on the list ‘dry foods’.
Up until the beginning of this year I too was a renter and therefore moved a lot. Having a stock of plastic bins/tubs was my method so that I didn't have to pay for cardboard boxes over and over
i kept all my tassels from graduating highschool and college. i love seeing them. but i also have one bin i keep all my sentimental stuff in

As a crafter who just moved home, I can confirm IT WAS SUCH A NIGHTMARE... and I already hired a mover. But the packing and unpacking process was INTENSE.

For future reference: you can put your clothes into garbage bags!! tape the tops of the hangers together and tie the bag around the clothes. Then you can just pull the bag and tape off and hang your clothes up :•)

Just want to say, I've been watching you from the start of your channel, and your sewing has improved so much in 2 years. Kudos to you! Also, slightly jealous of your sewing room because my sewing room in currently in our laundry room and I am so tempted to make the guest room into my sewing room, but I know if i do that, it will be chaos for guests if im in the middle of a project 😅. Excited to see your new office!
I know its not helpful now, but I use trash bags for my clothes when moving. I put the bag over a big bunch of clothes and tie it at the top of the hangers. So when I get to the new place I can just hang it right up and slip the bag out and still be able to use the bag later. The clothes stay organized and cleaned!
It was so cute how you just moved benson over. I’m so happy for you and I hope you love you new home and I can’t wait to see a house tour if you end up doing one. I love your videos so much and i can’t wait to see you new projects that you will make in your new house. Because new house new projects. I love how creative you are and I always crochet or do my projects while watching your videos.

When I moved I donated tons, sold some, and left a lot. Gave bags and bags of books to the library, and still have more stuff to clear out. It comes in waves, to get stuff out of here. Makes me feel lighter, and more breathable, if that makes sense. Good luck, Jenna. I just recently found you, so am binging on your videos... out of order.... Still great.

I’ve sewn all my life but I’ve only done 2 clothing items so far so to get used to it im practice one my stuffies!
Also I’m just like you I hateeeee getting rid of stuff! Like I don’t need it, it’ll be useless, I won’t use it, I’ll forget about it, but I still need it lol 😂 also I remember when I moved house for the first time, it took a LOT of getting used to but don’t worry you’ll get used to it! This likely doesn’t help you now, but maybe for the future! I just rip a hole in the bottom of a garbage bag and put it upside down on top of a bunch of hangers of clothes, with the hooks coming out the top of the hole. If that makes sense. Then they’re all bundled together and you don’t need to take them off the hanger!

I am kinda moving (still looking for a new place, but no luck yet, but have to start my internship in September so worst case I will move back to my parents temporarily since the company is close to were my parents live) so I have to do some packing as well, but also kinda hoping I find a place so I can pack for that. I just less fun to pack for going back to my parents, plus then I will have to pack stuff up smart: stuff I will use at my parents, stuff I am less likely to use....
You did give me some energy to work through some stuff. Also reminded me I have to sell some stuff so I did that.
Seeing your graduation rope and your memory, lane memories and photos and stuff, I'm thinking that you should probably create a shadow box to hang on the wall to House those items. Then they would be on display and they wouldn't be cluttering up spaces
Here's a tip heavy big items on the bottom of the box. Then lighter stuff as you fill up the box.

Once when I moved some distance, I hired professional movers. The guy that came out to give me a price, and tell me what to do said to fill up all the drawers with clothes, linens, yarn, etc. and they would wrap them, and use a hand truck to get them in the moving truck. Maybe everyone else knows this, but I thought it was astounding. Yeh, why empty drawers, and put the stuff in boxes? Another thing he told me was to put everything in boxes. Even small tables, etc. Man I did just that, and when I couldn't find a box big enough, I made one. It has come in handy several times since. Just wanted to share this, cause I thought it was so amazing.

And I can't believe that up in Canada you want AC so badly! I would expect the summers are short & cool? I mean I live in Wisconsin (which is also kind of far north but obviously not as far north as Canada) which can be hot & humid in summer but the summers are also short. Like this month (August) has already been cool: 60s and low 70s F. It's certainly not hot. I have already seen people wearing long sleeves and sweatshirts. Anyway my apartment has AC but I never use it as I get cold super easy and then start to shiver. ❄ Hopefully you will like the new AC..
In Quebec where I live now (and Ontario where I grew up) has very hot and often humid summers. We have all 4 full seasons here. 😊
