Happy birthday fella , all the best ,love your respect for the old school bricklayers who then built stunning and beautiful structures , and yes the skew brickwork !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Since moving to Rugby in 2007 I have "done" pretty much the entire GCR from the town up to the Newton parking area. The Ashlawn Rd bridge(as are all the bridges on the GCR) is a thing of wonder & I never tire of walking down the path & stopping to take it in.The amazing iron girder bridge further up was demolished shortly before we moved to Rugby but fortunately I had seen it in all its glory before on visits to my brother in law who lives in the area.
I remember the station building in situ 50+ years ago. I used to pass by it loads of times when Dad took us out for a drive. I always liked the look of the building. I went back there a couple of years ago. Sad to see it like it is now. I walked from the old birdcage end and back.
Wednesday 13th December 2023, your birthday and my Wife's last day of a 43 year teaching career, congratulations to you both!!!! I haven't done the walk up to Rugby Central from the Ashlawn Road bridge, I'll have to do it the next time I competing in Rugby, the Athletics track is just up the road. Blowing the GCR whistle on the platform was really special, nice one mate. A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Happy belated birthday. Just a quick one, when you got to southern end of the platform. The raised brickwork to your left, was the entrance to the goods yard. The tracks in the goods yard were raised above the normal line. At the north end of the platform the SW sign is new. I would like to think it means to the South West, where much of the trains did go. But to be honest I don’t know what it means.
Happy birthday brother !!!! what an explore and has to be one of my top 5 videos that I have made. I may actually get a day off next week so let's do Finedon.
Happy birthday, geezer. Another great video. When you said you were going to do something on the platform that hadn't been done for 50 years, I was half expecting to see they'd re-opened the toilets! 😁
Great work. Happy birthday.
