Turbo Toby Learns to Swim!

- Toby had a bad experience on his first swim back when he was 1 & 1/2 years old. We were at a pond and Toby slipped off the dock into the water. He did ok in the water but he has been apprehensive to swimming since that slip. We bought Toby the ZippyPaws life jacket to help him build confidence in the water. This did the trick and now Toby can swim well with or without his life jacket and he is no longer apprehensive to swimming! We were also surprised during the filming of this video when Toby randomly started returning balls that were thrown to him just like the old movie- "Air Bud". Toby has shown great potential at learning tricks but this took us by surprise. Toby is 3 & 1/2 years old in this video. Enjoy!

So happy to see this new video of Toby. I'd been really worried about him - it's so weird how we (strangers) can become so attached to someone else's pets :) He's lovely and am glad that he seems to be doing okay now.

He's so cute. Maybe you could get him a smaller ball for pool time, as he seemed a little discouraged. He's a great swimmer.
We were on vacation and it was the only ball at the pool where we were staying. Next time we will bring some of Toby's toys that float with us.

I love seeing a Dachshunds who loves the water. However dogs don't need to learn how to swim. It comes naturally!
As I mentioned in the description, Toby had a very bad experience with water when he was younger. This was a way of helping him feel safe just to get him going. He was swimming without the vest the very next day.

Thank you! We finally have Toby back to 100% healthy. He really struggled with food allergies but thankfully we have found a solution.

Ahhh! He is so big!! He looks just like my mini long haired dachshund! Mine HATES water, so much so that he refuses to go outside to potty when it's raining. Or when the grass is wet.haha!

J'ai moi même été propriétaire de deux teckels dont je garde de merveilleux souvenirs. Amicalement et bon rétablissement pour votre petit chien qui me fait beaucoup rire dans ses aventures !

I love Toby, he's such a handsome little fella. Please watch Toby for ivdd. My dachshund buckwheat is paralysed now because of a vet misdiagnosing it as a slipped disc.
Thank you! So sorry to hear about buckwheat. I have found it very difficult to find a good vet these days. We are on our third vet for Toby but we are happy now. We will be making a video regarding Toby's journey with his diet and skin related health issues. We hope it will help other dachshund owners who's dogs are struggling with diet related skin issues.
I'm not sure where toby lives...but dr lynch in east moriches long isl ny is EXCELLENT.

If you mean Toby looks different it's because he has recovered from some health issues that he as fought over the past year. He has also aged 1 & 1/2 years since his last video. If you mean the video looks different this video was shot on a different camera than we normally use.
We will be making a video regarding Toby's journey with his diet and skin related health issues. We hope it will help other dachshund owners who's dogs are struggling with diet related skin issues.
Toby is really smart. This is a really good video and I watched it with my five month old doxie puppy (who does not like water or balls for some reason) and he is confused. HA!

He has many different sized balls but we were on vacation and this was the only one available to him.
Dogs know how to swim, they just need that courage to go in the first time. The vest is just in the way!
Did you even read the description under the video explaining his lack of confidence? Hence the need of the vest.
