As an engineer I love such video: "First was this idea , than I improved suspension, than I upgraded reload mechanism, next I developed stronger gun...." Point by point entire evolution of the tank, advantages and flaws of each generation, something beautiful.
Thank you very much, I also love this process :). You should see my latest work to see how far I've gotten. Because this one is ancient history for my design process: th-cam.com/video/J9ICOTBv6RY/w-d-xo.html. Unfortunately, for my recent creations, I didn't make very elaborate videos. Thank you for your lovely comment!
Of course, there are safety concerns with the gun projectile, not only for other people, but for the player himself, if he turns the turret to his face. The player should wear protective glasses.
I've been working on a large technic lego tank for a while but i never felt motivated to do so. This video got my spirits up and I am now done with the hull, all i need now is RC parts xD
Thank you, this was the first project I chose to share. That makes it a little special for me. Although by comparison, my newer projects are a little more advanced.
i find that when i see a lego moc and i really like it and then i try and build it, it ends up not working because that person's moc didn't really work well. for example gyuta97' tank, the suspension whit the elastic bands didn't work. so my point is that you have to make it to see if it works. as you have done whit this amazing tank.
Yes indeed, those rubber bands are not very practical. I like to see such and other imperfections as a gift. Because they give you the chance to improve the design. And if you keep on improving something, it becomes something new, totally its own thing. There is a direct line that goes from this tank, to my latest tank: the Blacktron Goliath. But that last tank looks nothing like this one and it's a vast improvement in many respects.
@@Kelkschiz yes i agree, it dose become something totally different. but when you saw gyuta97's tank did you not look at it and think that is amazing, and had no flaws. or did you look at it that it had flaws.
+Brian Seals, I have been thinking about making an oscillating turret, but those things are nearly impossible to make with LEGO. Making an oscillating turret requires two large nearly perfectly round shapes. It's possible to make an approximation and make it seem like an oscillating turret, but I don't think it is possible to make it function as one.My Mark 6 RC LEGO tank has a turret ring to provide stability to the turret. A new turret should improve on that and I see no way to do that with an oscillating turret.
Well, that statement was perhaps a little naive of me. In a perfect world you would need some rounded shapes where one sits in the other, but in practice there are plenty of ways to get around that. I have been working on something a bit similar as well, and I found out you can get away with quite a lot. Good luck on your AMX50 though! Should make a very nice MOC subject!
Hi, I'm a boy from Germany. I really Love LEGO. I play it since I'm 5 years old and my projects get better and better. I just finished new Tank, but it can't fire😔😔😔 Maybe I'll make a Video and put it on TH-cam...
Your English is very good :). Good luck with your tank! Always nice to combine a good build with a video to have a lasting memory of it and see your own progression. This video was taken quite a long time ago. These days my tanks look a lot different.
Niiice. That's a very good and creative firing mechanism. Wish you'd have a couple shots of the entire vehicle without all the plating, so we could see all its mechanics. One question: Why the long barrel? Wouldn't a shorter barrel have less friction?
+Cody Martinson Thanks mate, you also have a cool channel with lots of creative things. If you want to see more footage of one of my tanks I would recommend you check out my flickrpage: www.flickr.com/photos/33425520@N07/albums. About the barrel thing, I kinda agree. But my best friend always tells me to make them longer for aesthetic reasons. Also with my Mark 6 you can see it isn't really bothered by friction too much: th-cam.com/video/PNOXMTCWgFs/w-d-xo.html. At the moment I am in the process of filming my new tank, the Mark 7.
Hi Robert, thanks for your comment! I have build this tank some years ago. My newer LEGO tanks all employ a turret ring which fixes the bouncy turret problem.
+Kelkschiz u should try and ur tracks like a real tank with torsion bar suspension and overlapping drive wheels (if German) but I wanna see a realistic lego tank that uses concepts from real tanks
My tanks use concepts from real tanks. Not all 'real' German tanks had a torsion bar suspension or overlapping road-wheels. Tanks use many different types of suspension. One of my goals is to use those different types of suspension in my models. At the moment I have two tanks that use a torsion bar suspension (no video yet). However I do not make realistic tank models. If you are looking for those I would recommend you take a look at the channel of Sariel or Tommy Styrvoky.
Well, the only non-Lego parts of my mechanism are the rubberbands and the bowstring. The rubberbands can quite easily be replaced with a firing mechanism powered by LEGO-springs which should not be any less powerful. The bowstring however is another matter. There are quite a few different LEGO firing mechanisms out there, but as far as i am aware, none of the 100% LEGO firing mechanisms are as powerful as mine is. Should you be looking for a 100% LEGO firing mechanism I would recommend the one designed by fr3dpivo: th-cam.com/video/dQMzrUz-bS0/w-d-xo.html.
Thanks! I never made building instructions for this old tank. However, I've build a new tank which I do have instructions for: th-cam.com/video/J9ICOTBv6RY/w-d-xo.html. For details please see the description. The range of both tanks is around 5-6 meters.
Munchito696 Well this was my first LEGO tank, it took a long time to building several prototypes, both of the shooting mechanism and of the tank as a whole. I always try to improve things, and that is done by trial and error, which takes up a lot of time. Also, I don't have a lot of free time so it's hard to guess how much time was actually involved, but it took me about two years to build the one you see here. However the tank that I build after that, the "Mark 6 RC LEGO tank" only took me about two months to build. Guess I am getting better at it :). I never calculated the cost in LEGO bricks of one of these babies, but I estimate it would be somewhere around $400-500, maybe more.
Ähm... what I wanted to say... There are two new Videos on now (If you haven't seen yet). The First one I put on "Private" because it was a bit embarassing...😅
I know the feeling, I have that a little bit with this video. I made it a long time ago. But it is good to see how much I have progressed over the years. Liked your video ;)
+Dimitri ‘TheJollyBrit’ Mason This is a rather old model. My more recent tanks have covers on their tracks. Here, take a look if you want: www.flickr.com/photos/33425520@N07/22017954153/in/datetaken/

Dankje. Ik heb deze MOC niet meer in elkaar zitten, dus ik weet het niet precies. Maar ik dacht dat deze ongeveer 160-200 elementen had in de rupsbanden, 80-100 per zijde.
Kelkschiz Oh and awesome vids btw keep it up ☺. Also try make something like a wheeled tank destroyer. They have many wheels and a v. Powerful gun.... btw I want to make something like this but I'm new to it and I don't know where to start, any suggestions?
Thanks, actually my next video will be about a six-wheeled vehicle. Not a tank destroyer I am afraid, though that thought had crossed my mind as well ;). My suggestion about where to start is to just start building. You are now where I was a couple of years ago. My first couple of tanks were very simple. But each new tank was a little bit more complex and a little better built. It is just a learning process. To be honest, when I started I never thought I would be able to make the things I am able to make now. And the best way to learn is by trying it yourself. Of course when you are stuck with a specific problem it always helps to look at how other people solved it.
+Brian Howarth Sorry but I never make instructions for the big LEGO creations I make. I took this tank apart a long time ago, to be able to build new stuff.
As an engineer I love such video: "First was this idea , than I improved suspension, than I upgraded reload mechanism, next I developed stronger gun...." Point by point entire evolution of the tank, advantages and flaws of each generation, something beautiful.

This is the best lego tank video ive seen!
Cool, thanks!
Amazing!
Aiming can be aided with a pointer light on the gun.
Thank!
I did consider putting a laser pointer on my latest tank but I haven't found one that is small enough.
Of course, there are safety concerns with the gun projectile, not only for other people, but for the player himself, if he turns the turret to his face. The player should wear protective glasses.
Me: *depressed*
TH-cam: wanna see a Lego tank has autoloader?
you my friend, you made something beautiful
+Eivindiriath Thanks for the compliment my friend :).
Looks a Bit like a T57 Heavy! Looks great:)
Wonderful build! This is really cool. The newest firing mech is very neat.
Thanks a lot :). I've learned a lot though since this build several years ago. My new builds are a lot more refined.
Im in love with your tank! I would love to build one by my self! But I just think that i might not be good enough to build that :( But amazing video
That is exactly what i thought three years ago, you'll never know what you are capable of till you try.
Thx for comment. I just not have all these motor and bricks that you have, so if i want to build one by my self i need to spend a lot of money
Ah yes indeed, LEGO is expensive...
Yep i know. Im from Denmark I grew up with expensive toys :P
Very impressive and the functionality is amazing!
+M Stack thanks! My more recent tanks are a bit more sophisticated though.
I've been working on a large technic lego tank for a while but i never felt motivated to do so. This video got my spirits up and I am now done with the hull, all i need now is RC parts xD

jeez this is amazing! good job!

Well, the only non-Lego parts of my mechanism are the rubberbands and the bowstring. The rubberbands can quite easily be replaced with a firing mechanism powered by LEGO-springs which should not be any less powerful. The bowstring however is another matter.

How can you make the canon go up and down
for the excavator the item number is 8043
Hi! You will see the Video of my Tank tomorrow 😆 I am allowed to make it!!!😊
Cool, have fun shooting the video :)
The Problem is that my parents maybe won't allow that...😐😐😐 Thanks for your answer!!! P.S. I am 14, so I had 3 years Englisch in Schoko already
You have an accent, are you from belgium?
Close, I am from the Netherlands.
im german
can i sale
It is not in one piece anymore. Usually I breakdown my creations after I make a video of them.
just use torsion bar suspension
As it so happens I am using a torsion bar suspension on the tank I am currently working on.
Is an Abo of your Chanel free??? If Yes, I would make an Abo...😆
Yes of course, subscriptions are free on TH-cam, and is much appreciated :).
How can you make the canon go up and down
Its just a simple linear actuator which elevates the gun:
