I actually had good experiences with the M60 in my time grinding US Ground. Sure, you aren't top dog, but the vehicle gives you all the resources necessary to get the job done. It was leagues better than the M48A1 for grinding and overall performance, which I still hold high distain for.
At least it does not start with Apcr ammo. And it was painful but I got that tank before the br changes and it was ok at best. The m60 aos is much better but the apds rounds pen less
I think the M60 is a good tank, mind you not a great tank, but i don't remember the grind as hard as the M48 Patton, you have a better shell, sure the tank is highly situational, the height of the thing make it hard to hide, but played carefully behind allied it's a force to be recon with. The next tank the M60A1 AOS has the same '' grind '' but has STAB which greatly improve the overall performance of the line up at 8.0-8.3 ( M60 - M60 (AOS) - Bradley - Sheridan - M60A2 )

I enjoy the m60, run it with my 6.3 line up as a backup. I only use the sabot shell tho because the heat struggles hard on angles and is unpredictable as hell

Most of the times if you get penetrated you are dead so not having those isn't as painful as in the pattons. Centurions have been some of the less painful grinds tbh, only thing against them is the mobility

It a good tank overall the hull can bounce some of APFSDS from russian and the gun have barely enough to pen russian 8.7 medium tank upper frontal hull
the AOS is the better version of the m60. and ends up being the successor inthe game with the folowwing m60s being the same model other thank getting ERA and new Shells

For me the ones beforehand with stock APCR sucked even more. At least with the M60 you get a decent sabot round

This is at the same BR as the new flamethrower t55, and that gets all the same round types + some others and has a stabilizer.

At the same time the APDS on the AOS is worse than normal L7 APDS, so you have to rely more on the HEATFS with it

The version with stock apcr is honestly the best you get so many types of apcr which are very useful.

M60 without stabilization can be hard to spade but it needs to be played carefully. I've had plenty of fun grinding the Israeli tech tree at 8.0 BR.
