    I liked the technique to combine the two woods following the grain. I'd like to try that.....but at the risk of sounding snarky, 8/4 boards are not exactly scrap wood.

    • @WilliamDouglasCo
      @WilliamDouglasCo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In our shop, it’s not the thickness of the board but rather the overall length and width. We throw away or donate 8/4 lumber cut offs every week because we just don’t have room to keep it all. We used long pieces for the sake of making the video. If you imagine the same process with smaller pieces of scrap wood you would achieve the same thing but yield a smaller batch.

    • @WilliamDouglasCo
      @WilliamDouglasCo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It looks like they are a little wide. I imagine he just used the full widths of the boards so he would have more freedom for the free flow curves. Looks like they could have been smaller though

  • @eddiemilton3819
    @eddiemilton3819 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's a great video, thank you. Personally, I feel like there was a lot of material wasted. The coasters are all straight lines. I think the pattern could have been traced on the material and a lot more pieces could have been made. Now, I don't own a table saw and my skill level is nowhere near that of yours. I'm a VERY frugal woodworker. I use every single square inch of wood that I can and the majority of my cuts are made on my 10in bandsaw, handsaw, and jigsaw, but when I make projects like this, I make sure to waste little to nothing. Sorry if I'm being ignorant, but that's just my thought. I still love the work and the channel.
