I love that you are going through and telling us why you are decluttering what you did! I find that when I watch these videos no one explains why they get rid of things, and I think that’s what I get so stuck when decluttering. Some things that are are hard for me to decluttering is underwear and socks. I hate the idea of throwing these away because of the impact they have in landfill, but I also can’t donate these personal items.
Your closet declutter and minimalist wardrobe videos are my favorite! They’re so inspiring and give me a visual to aspire to. 😍 I’d love to also see videos about how you figure out what’s missing in your wardrobe or what key things you look for when deciding if an item will stand the test of time.

Excellent declutter as usual, I've only wished you would filmed while you've tossed the clothes that couldn't be donated since I struggle so much to discard anything and most of the time I just place those clothes in a separate bag just in case I might change my mind on them :P
Just what I needed! I have a hard time parting with things that have several good qualities, but still aren't usable for me. When I was younger, I had a much narrower definition of "does it fit?" - "can I squeeze into it?" Now, clothes have to be comfortable, not look tacky(!), be a color I like (I too stick to neutral bottoms, so I can use any color top, and actually I think that's genius), and make sense (no more low cut thick sweaters).

If the green trousers are a great fit and lovely material, you could always dye them black. I love the effortless, stain-free dyes you pop in your washing machine - I've updated and saved several things this way and I love it!
Old cotton socks make good rags. I cut the toes and heels off for my husband to check the oil with, then discard (he hates paper and uses my good rags otherwise), then cut the remaining tube open to make a good, but not “best” rag (those are my cotton bar mops).

I actually de cluttered about 3 bags worth of clothes because I gained weight and felt like holding onto old clothes didn’t bring me joy, it brought on more stress because they didn’t fit and I decided to invest in oversized clothing instead because if i gain weight again in the future, i don’t have to worry about something feeling too tight on! I love the trend of oversized clothes with biker shorts or leggings, it’s simple and you can always mix and match
did you think about sewing the red piece smaller? sometimes a few little changes can make you feel more comfortable wearing a favorite pieces what got to big.
I find that I too have a fear of colored bottoms 😂 I don’t think I’ve worn any bottoms that aren’t black or blue jeans in years because they ended up shoved to the back of my closet. It does make pairing tops really easy though cause it only has to go with black bottoms or blue jeans lol.

Have you heard of Knickey? When you mentioned old undergarments, it reminded me of how this company is awesome for recycling used underwear, bras, socks, etc! And they provide you a shipping label for free :) A super great way to recycle these items without sending them to landfill, and one I wish more people knew about (since I didn’t for so long!) ☺️
Nice video! Just did a big declutter myself and it feels so nice! I only have around 50 items left which is nice but in the end I would like to get to the goal to get beneath 40 pieces and stay there, for now I am really content with the clothes I have though. Have a nice day!

Most of my clothes are about 5 years old, and my style has changed a lot. I really wish I could declutter some old clothes, but I don’t have the money to replace them. And I would need to replace them because I would barely have any clothes left haha.
What do you do with your decluttered items with holes/items that are worn out? I always struggle with that part. Sometimes I use clothing as rags but underwear seems a little weird for that 😂
I need to declutter some undies I bought from aerie. They’re cotton with lace trim but the lace has gotten sooooo destroyed over the past few years. However, it’s difficult for me to let them go bc, besides the lace, they’re perfectly fine despite looking super trashy 🥴

Do you find that as you do this exercise do you find yourself with a more honed color palette? I found I don’t really wear certain colors. How I know this is I buy colors to try…and I wear them for a while but when that decluttering itch hits they’re the first to go. Now when I browse (dangerous I know) I stay in my lane and everything goes with everything.
I really need to get rid of my polyester tops. I have about 4-5 that I bought because I love the look of them, but have never worn because of my discomfort in that fabric. I recently learned that I’m allergic to polyester, acrylic and most other synthetics, no wonder I can’t stand them. It’s more common than I realized, I always wondered how other people aren’t bothered by them, but if you really get irritated by them, an allergy might be the problem. They’re so pretty, but, goodbye anyway, they’re not worth the skin torture.
How long did it actually take you to get this done? Question not related to the video- have you finished college? Are you working in the field that you are studying/gotten a degree in?
Honestly, I just wish that I currently had the amount of stuff you had before you decluttered. I'm so overwhelmed by what I have and I'm between sizes so I just keep putting off dealing with my enormous amount of clothing.

Ashlynne Eaton, it’s super easy and it would make a good video in repurposing that’s different from what you normally. Even if you mess up it would still be interesting content. If you’re up for it I would use rit dyemore since it’s readily available and it can do synthetics (and thread is often synthetic). Just follow the directions on the bottle.

To start, declutter the clothes that are too big. Then, you can then declutter what you don’t wear.
