Crazy to think back seeing how Ken’s injuries robbed him and the fans of a potential 30/40win superstar.
I was a local pro In the 80s and 90s. And not many could beat me I was always pretty calm and collective. And I worked out a lot and rode a lot. And then I got on a track with Johnny O’Mara what a joke and now with four strokes it’s even more competitive and with all the training involved people don’t realize what it takes to ride at this level, I watch some of my friends kind of mental coach race local unbelievably fast then they go to a Supercross race or an outdoor national and don’t even qualify for the main event or score any points on the outdoor. They get smoked. Jake Weimer used to race at our track he was good friends with one of the guys I trained. I could not believe how much faster he was then every other pro out there just smoked everybody. But then when he gets next to Villopoto, Dungey, Stewart, Roczen. Tomac, Same thing he gets smoked. And he is a number believable Racer. It is still to this day blows me away the difference in the level of the same group of riders. Tough sport. The greatest. I miss it. Just keep raising the bar. You know it’s a shame that Ken had that big crash in because I felt like 2017 was Ken Roczen year to win a championship that’s all I got to say about this

He fades on late rounds. But Dungey is the kind of example that whatever challenge is ahead just face it and there is no shame on losing but what's important is to fight and to keep pressing the pressure on . The type of pressure Dungey puts and applied toward the ovely confident rider like Roczen was enough to make him panic and leads to his down fall. 2021 same old Roczen. So technically I 100% disagree with this comment.

Roczens crash wasn’t due to Dungey pressuring him, he caught a kicker on the lip of the rhythm section, and definitely not with Roczen in the form he was in 2016/17 he was unbeatable outdoors the whole season and it was actually Dungey who injured himself trying to keep up with Roczen if you remember, this was Kennys year to win and he would have if not for that awful accident

roczen felt bad for the early contact with dungey so he backed off to give space and possible test himself to see if he can comeback on the champ

@@ScottAllenSparks No shit buddy LOL only because roczen crashed at A2 and Tomac had a bad east round if roczen never crashed he was clearly faster than dungey then tomac caught fire at Glendale. They would've left Ryan in the championship and it woulda been roczen and tomac 1-2 in the championship. They were both faster than ryan tomac had 9 wins. Just sayin also team orders helped dungey
@@vincentgonce9080 maybe it would’ve been dungey and Tomac at the end. The could of would of should of argument about Roczen has definitely ran its course, man. That’s the same argument(excuse) used EVERY year for him. Everyone has injuries throughout the course of a year, not just him. I’m not a fan of dungey but he was one hell of a consistent rider and always stayed healthy, That’s how champions ride. He earned the titles.

And Roczen's crash wasn't the normal crash tho the way he broke his arm and needed 11 serguries to fix it that crash was probaly the worst crash in SX i've ever seen. But Tomac clearly had the speed in 2017.

2 Strokes are better than 4 Strokes
Roczen downfall was, he labelled himself way above everyone else and for him he can't be touch or challenge by anyone, but when the moment came, somebody showed him he can be touch and be challenge that was enough to break him. The 2nd round pressure Dungey showed Ken was enough to make him rethink of himself having a cake walk season and in the 3rd round Dungey add more pressure by leading the race while Roczen had to start out of the top 5. After many rounds had pass Roczen realized Dungey was still pulling away and it was enough to make him panic. Roczen is known to be weak mentally and it did resulted in the worst possible way by not just hurting himself but by nearly ending his career. Don't ever talk about whos fast and not, almost all Champions won by riding smart, even Tomac 2020 won the title by being just smart and not pouring all out every race. Now that are facts that will not amazed everyone but its the real deal when it comes to winning Championships.
