Goochie had that typical Hard working grinder technique. Respect the good deliveries but would punish anything that missing the line. That high back lift style played a great impact in his batting.
333 in the first innings and he scored 123 runs in d second innings of this test.totally he scored 456 runs in this test ,highest ever individual score i TEST HISTORY. GREAT GREAT GREAT GRAHAM GOOCH.
Gooch was a champion player. One of the greatest opening batsman ever.
Graham Gooch is classic batsman of the history of World Cricket❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Lord's cricket ground is the best place to watch cricket, both on TV and in reality. Can't wait for the next one.
MCG is better 😅
@@Anonymous-eq7mp no
I'm going this summer v West Indies..can't wait
333 at an age of 37.....Graham Gooch was just exceptional !!
Azharuddin's 121 in the same match was quite a delight..scored at near run a ball
The quality of highlights in 1990😮Great work 🙌
Remember watching this live on BBC tv when cricket was for the many not the few!
3:20
He didn’t quite get there and played it with a bit of a crossed bat.
Yeh…it was a sweep shot😮
Crazy how much cricket has changed when senior people in the game didn’t recognise these things and were totally confused by attacking cricket.
So good to watch a batsman without a modern bat in full flight. Bloody brilliant mate👏👏👏🍻❤
I was lucky enough to watch him for Essex on many occasions. Pure class.
I was there on either the Thursday or Friday of Lord’s 333 so saw some of it.
One of d great opener of test cricket.
This innings made his conversion rate superb.... He smashed 11 hundreds and 15 fifties more... All after the declining carrer age of 37
That's one of the best innings I have ever seen.
Prime example of why catches are important
You give a chance to batsmen like gooch and he capitalizes on that chance and scores a triple century
He looks a big ,tall, strong lad as well hiting flat sixes by fetching from outside offstump 😁😁😁💪💪💪
Best cricket ground of all time
One of the all time great test matches in my opinion was there for all five days wonderful occasion the best gooch ever played I think
TBH I think his 154 not out against the West Indies the following year was his best , different batting conditions and the ferocious Windies pace attack
@@johnreeve9373 some number crunchers rate it the best innings of all time. Awesome attack, difficult conditions, poor match position and he carries his bat. Simply awesome.
Solid player right up with the best on his day & this was one of his greatest 💯 imagine tresgothic without his issues!!
U mean Tresothick 😂
Lord's ground 😍😍😍
Great player. Could play fast or spin with equal skill.
Great 333
A drop by Kiran More costed 297 runs...maybe the costileast drop in test match history....Graham Gooch batting style looked a bit of combo of two of my favourite batsmen of my era KP & Abd...
I wonder if Graham Gooch took Kiran More out for dinner after the match,
Apart from that one opportunity, Gooch was just to good in that inning.
Love to see old cricket video old is gold thanks lords tv
Great cricket in England.. I love England cricket ❤️❤️ from india 🇮🇳🇮🇳
But remember Kapil Dev in same
match.? And other players .
The best test match of all time
for BOTH sides .!
So he had 9 centuries at age 37 and retired with 22. Gives all us old buggers a bit of hope.
Nope, he retired with 20.
You are correct but I think my point stands.
@@royw-g3120 Thank you. Your point still stands.
Yeah he scored 12 centuries in his last 4 years.
It's a very well made point. Gooch was at his best in his last 2 - 3 years playing Tests.@@tobyharling719
Cricket nostalgia!!
Nice upload - thanks lord's
Thanks for the comment, Dhruv.
Will anyone beat Gooch's record at Lord's? 🤔
I am expecting root to break this season against India..
Joe Root I guess
@@crazyguy7877 I'm expecting the same, hope root beats it, but it's really tough.
@@melo8232 yes its tough though but one thing we have to take note this test series is happing in the later half of English summer , so the wickets are baking in the sun and there will be less lateral moment as compared to May June..
It will be really difficult to break gooch's record scoring hundred at Lord's is so difficult triple hundred is far away thing.
Thank you lords cricket ground
The Way he played Kapil Dev was just exceptional.
Because Kapil Dev in my opinion is one of the dangerous foreign fast bowlers in England even bit dangerous than Malcolm Marshall and Micheal Holding(In England) as well just because of his bowling action and ability to swing the ball and reverse swing the ball.
Javagal Srinath was a better bowler than Kapil Dev both in India and abroad.
Kapil Dev played more Test matches abroad and he was effective only in English conditions.
But Javagal Srinath took many wickets on dead flat tracks of India and won many Trst matches for India.
Kapil Dev was an overrated bowler who played too many Test matches for the sake of breaking Richard Hadlee's record.
@@Straight.Forward.Indian wasnt particularly quick either. pedestrian if you ask me. think i might have got a double against all those dollies.
no, none come close to the lethality of marshall in England and Kapil dev was not that good bowler as some people make him out to be
Thank you for putting the phrase " In my opinion". It possibly saved you a lot of embarassment
All Gower is thinking is why didn't Gooch play like this the summer before. As were we all.
But it was an epic innings which we all loved at the time.
If they played on the 60 yard grounds today...that 333 would have been 500
A very good point. Also, think what scores the other big hitters of that era like Viv Richards, Clive Lloyd , Barry Richards, etc, would have made on these modern small boundaries !
Great Work
Look at the swing ball💚
I was 15 and a keen player at school. We had Test Match Special on in the car on the way up to beautiful Shropshire for a cottage holiday and we drove for hours just grinning. Happy days.
Gavaskar- ‘it does look like Gary Sobers’ 365 is in some danger...’ BCL, hold my rum, twice.
very interesting to learn the flow and accurate rythem
watch the Class, grace, prfect footwork, patience and guess the direction of delivery before picthing with exellent eyesight and accurate reading.
Playing for team not for records
That drop catch at 1.46...So costly
Probably the most costliest drop ever
Rajat Acharjee Even Kohli dropped McCullum in a test and he went on to score a triple ton..
Actually it was second drop catch in that inning by more. First one on zero in the bowling of kapil dev which was much easier also.
@@hemalnaik7909 Gooch?
Gordon Greenidge's Innings was just the BEST.
That was in a chase as well!
That's a very fair suggestion!
Scoring hundred at Lord's is so difficult triple century is far away thing.
Great innings..
I love Lords ground
I was there for some of this probably Thursday or Friday. Just 9 💯s says Jack Bannister. But Daddies!!
Graham Cooch 😎💪
Kiran More, actually gave Gooch another career, possibly another 12 centuries. Had Gooch failed in the series, it was probably curtains for him given the torrid time the English Team was facing back then
Wonderful batsman ...
Graham goochie England 🏴😍
Grand dad of England cricket 🔥🔥
Geoff Boycott is the grand dad of English cricket...
The Indians had the highest compliment for G.G. “ we were absolutely goddam sick at the sight of him”. They also said his bat looked 5’ wide.
Lord's Cricket Ground should post the whole match highlights of this match........
Great memories. Have you ever seen Gooch play the square cut?
കൊള്ളാം 👍
I am from india🇮🇳 one day joe root breaks this score record...
Root is good, and will probably become England's highest run scorer and that may not be bettered. But I doubt anyone will make in excess of 456 total runs in a Test!
1:47 probably the most expensive drops in the test game.
CRICKET 🏏 LEGEND SS RESPECTS🌹🌺
Dear Lords Cricket Ground,
Please provide a video on Steve Smith's 215 at Lords.
Gooch sir the best
🙌
Super sot
Gooch scored 456
First inn: 333
Second inn: 123
Younis khan at Banglore 2005 scored 351
First innings: 267
Second: 84 not out
I was at that game with my brother and best mate.. a week before I got married!!!
1:17 commentary is too good 😂😂
Lords Cricket Ground :-
Can you Please Send The Highlights Of 1981 Ashes series , Where Ian Botham Showed His All Round Performance
played almost 450+ Balls then had to give a huge raise and round applause for 485 seconds for Graham Gooch, what an innings had played. Remember when Indian Bowlers got absolute humiliation plus catch dropped which costs the match.
Gooch, Clarke and Mcullum punished India after their catches were dropped.
Anyone else here after Sam Northeast's 335* today?
Great innings, but you might have as well told me they were playing in Mumbai. The pitch was a gimme.
What mandela effect did i just watch. I clearly remember Gooch being dropped by Kiran More of Kapil Dev's bowling. In this video i see Gooch being dropped by Kiran More the wicketkeeper off Sanjiv Sharma's bowling.
Dear @Lord's Cricket Ground,
Can you upload a video on top 10 sixes of Ben Stokes at Lord's?
Yes sure
@@Abdul-sc6ln
So you've also watched my video 😅
Lord's Cricket Ground, I expected Kohli and co to reach his score. Guess what, they all failed. A real legend. Salute to Graham Gooch.
I didn't know that the 80s batsman batting style is also classical.
I believe that was the first triple ton in tests since the one that the commentators were alluding to.
Yes..shame Gooch missed out on eclipsing Garry Sobers 365...another super player
The first batsmen in the galaxy who have the back lift not on the ground above the stumps😂😂😂
Young sachin on 6:43
Gooch had only scored 36 when he was dropped. It would be another 297 runs before his wicket fell; that’s one of the most expensive drops in Test Match history. It must have been burning away inside Kiran More’s brain!
I wonder if Gooch sends him a birthday card every year.
@@royw-g3120 😂
The undisputed jewel of late 80's and 90's , from the boring class of batting , others worth mentioning jeoff boycott, jack russell (wicket keeper), kepler wessels etc
Kiran More couldn't catch a bus in Piccadilly square
Gooch makes 300 and Benaud commentates like hes watching paint dry.
Gooch employed the cover drive a lot and the flick off legs to legside a lot. Didn't go for many sixes (but ran up the wicket riskily a few times after 200, nothing to lose after that)
Why in 2020s are there no batsmen staying in for this sort of duration? Is it due to higher quality bowling?
when you had to work hard for yiur runs, unlike today
He didn't missed any delivery out of line..
Futuristic stands it was Gooch
Purists often say that Mohammad Azharuddin’s, in the same game but in a losing cause, was the finest 💯 of the match.
Showed his generosity by continuing the innings until Robin Smith got a century.
Gooch, Boon, Kapil, Viv Richards, Botham, Miandad...etc etc We had real men with moustache playing cricket then..Now we have a bunch of school boys playing T20...!!
During that era most of the pace bowlers bowling action is too side on..🔥😂
It's very disappointing that videos of these legendary innings are getting very less views and non sense and biased analysis of people like aakash chopra are getting lakhs of views in less time
Very right
Great innings but India had a terrible attack. No speed gun back then but Prabhakar probably wasn't much faster than 70mph and the rest weren't much quicker. It was real cafeteria bowling. You couldn't get a bigger contrast with the current Indian side where they are a threat both home and away.
I think Ben Stokes' 89 vs New Zealand is the best innings in LCG
Certainly one of the most important!
His 101 vs nz in 2015 and the 115 vs Aus in 2019 ashes are alsothe stand out innings for me
I thought Gayle's 333
Laminated bats have a next kind of power
Came after final entry in T 20. Once rediculed as old man's team
What is the highest score by a overseas batsman in lords,i want to see video next
Graeme Smith 259 v Eng 2003. Hope that's the one
@@mehadnadeem4252 yeah may be I also think
Think Gooch owes More, a beer for the amateur effort when dropping the easy catch off the fantastic outswinger from Sharma. What a plonker!!!!!
Graham Gooch scored 333 in the First innings and followed it up by another 123 in the Second Innings.
It was extraordinary performance.
No player of the current generation of batsman is capable to deliver that kind of performance despite flat pitches and mediocre bowling attacks across teams.
True.....
And he was 37 years old
True. England's greatest ever batsman.
Agreed.
I remember younis khan scoring 267 and 84 not out in 2005 Banglore test. Total runs 351. I guess you are right not easy to breach 456 figure.
1:45 Kiran More dropped an easy catch of Graham Gooch and as a result India lost this Test match at Lord's. (1:45)
Graham Gooch went on to score 333..!!!
What a costly dropped catch it was...!!!
Kiran More was a hopeless batsman and India lost many matches when the required runs used to be around 30 runs and Kiran More was absolutely useless down the order.
This Test match, Lord's pitch was an absolute dead track and even Ravi Shastri scored hundred🤣.
Anyways, Graham Gooch and the whole England team should appreciate & thank Mr.Kiran More for his dropped catch.👏👏👏👏 (1:45)
Faat gooch, but those were the days!!
Test cricket in England is the best
