So when someone walks in to buy the F Type are you going to be so forthright and inform them that they have an immature palate ? Or give a glowing review and make a sale?

@@macswhips . Your video was going so well until the end. All F Type owners are immature? Really! Everyone has an opinion but don’t make crass statements. Yes you are insulting people, I’m 60 this year and hardly immature. So many men and women have stopped to admire my car…I guess that makes them immature. When and if someone comes in to buy the F Type why don’t you just say..” seriously? Are you a complete twat”.

      @macswhips  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@mikeymikeFType 😂😂 You're not doing a very good job of proving F Type fans are mature! You're 60 years old and are taking the time to get into a TH-cam argument because I made a sarcastic comment about people who had the opposite view to mine. Grow up

@@macswhips . It’s unlikely you know the difference between crass and sarcastic. Good luck selling the F Type… perhaps be more honest when selling it and give your personal view. Now that would be refreshing coming from a car salesman. Stop posting shit if you can’t take criticism

Hi @macswhips The XKR meets all the criteria of cars that I shouldn’t have parked in my garage:
    -long-hood
    -narrow-body
    -outdated-infotainment system
    -bouncy-ride (when driven slow)
-70s looking interior (seats, doors, dashboard)
-wrong color exterior in a sports car (black!)
    -etc…
But after watching so many videos talking about it being the best hidden jewel in the GT world and probably becoming a future classic I was tempted to drive one. And boy they were absolutely right!
I bought one here in California in May 2022 and I am super fascinated by the ton of potential this car has, this car is really a carmodder’s dream!!!
15,000 bought me a stock 2007 XKR w/ 4.2 supercharged engine with barely 70k miles; I think this is a steal for the price and I am so excited about the big changes I’ll be able to make to this car for less than $3200!!!
    -lowering-springs and spacers $1100 (parts & labor)
-side-fins from an Audi RS5 to make car look even lower $300 (since sideskirts for the XKR are so hard to find)
-paint-correction $500 (paint is still good for a more than 10-year old car though)
-powder paint wheels 🛞 to black $400
-blackout front grilles, side, and rear emblems $500
-black Alcantera interior ceiling upholstery $350
-change all interior/exterior bulbs to white LEDs $60
The looks and handling of this car is going to be even more amazing than the enthusiast here claim it to be… I will upload before/after pictures when I am done with my project 😎🍻
BTW… the car sitting next to it in my garage is 10-years newer and over $100k more, a $2017 Carrera S.
2007 XKR = Great Value for your money! 💵

It's important to remember that the XKR was the top of the line and the FType was the cheaper option! Even though the gearbox in the XKR is ancient by modern standards, the car is a modern classic imho.

I'm going to buy one of these this year and I am torn because I love both and don't know which to get? I've driven an F-Type S and loved it, and from that moment was determined to own one someday. There's no comparison. One looks like an Air Max trainer the other a sleek English Oxford. Jaguar tried too hard too distance itself from the conventional conservative palette with the f type, but nice work with the xf and xj. I have a slate grey 2007 XK, with modest 300/bhp. @@iSOBigD I would pick the XKR every time. I had a F type demo for a week when i was changing my car. Nearly broke my back. So uncomfortable, and hard ride. The F type is just a sports car, not a coupe for every day use.

@@macswhips yeah, since the mid 90’s. I cut my teeth on a 1987 XJS coupe is sweet condition and low miles. I traded my 1960 Coupe DeVille for it. It wasn’t the best car deal that I ever made. The other guy definitely made out. That’s when I learned that the older V12’s are better with high mileage rather than low mileage, e we hen buying one. lol. Lesson learned. But I’ve owned 6 Jaguar’s in total and have loved all of them, except maybe for that first ‘87 one. But in defense of the V12’s and their Lucas electronics, my 1994 6.0 V12 was a wonderful car. I actually used it as a daily driver in my real estate business in Southern California.

Oh wow. What was the Coupe DeVille like? I don't think I'll find one of those to drive here in the uk! Interesting about the high mileage on the V12's, is that because ones that are high mileage must be good examples?

@@macswhips I’ve had it for 6 months , used daily , it’s a 2014 bought with 44,000 on the clock , no problems so far. It’s a great car to drive , nice and smooth gear change when in auto , optional dynamic mode combined with Sport mode turns it into a wild animal and huge fun , acceleration is super rapid with even better exhaust sound. Have to be cautious in the wet with over 500bhp and rear wheel drive. It does have a winter mode that calms things down a bit in slippery conditions. All in all I have no regrets and would recommend one for anyone thinking of buying, just do some due diligence and check things over. 👍 they look fantastic as well , always have people looking at it , it has paddle shifters also , something that’s often overlooked

The XKR all day long. I prefer (and have) an XK Dynamic R coupe in Santorini Black.
The red one in this video is a Dynamic R, with giveaways being the wheels and seats.
Probably the best version of the car as it has the upgraded suspension, diff software, gearbox software and exhaust from the XKR-S, but without the expensive carbon fibre aero (which I think spoiled the looks).
This also explains why it sounds so good.
As a final bonus, it would seems that whilst Jaguar were putting all the other mechanicals from the XKR-S into these cars, they "forgot" to remove the 550bhp engine map😂
Or, to put ot another way, they didn't want to upset XK-RS owners so promoted the car as having the same power output as the regular XKR.
    Result!

7:08 Laughing at the petty spats on here over the XKR and Ftype. As an owner of a 2007 4.2 XKR in Botanical Green (BRG with a gold fleck) I am a little biased. I considered trading it in against an 2016 Ftype 3.0V6 manual in BRG but when both cars were parked side by side I just didn't get the same feeling from the Ftype. They are good looking cars but the XKR just has something about it and seeing less of them on the roads is definitely a good thing. Likely to replace it with an XJ Rsport or XJR if I can find one that ticks all of my boxes.

I had both and finally sold the XKR and kept the F Type.
If you haven't driven both you can't make the judgement.
The XKR is a fantastic car but it's showing it's age and every one you see is driven by an overweight grey haired wrinkly going to the golf club that looks like they work in a Bank for a living.
The F Type is only worth getting if its the V8 version and the people who drive them look like they might rob banks for a living.
