Great video man, I believe you were suppose to get the 5394X forward only kit. Anyways guess it worked out for you with the screws in the gears, but throwing it out there for anyone attempting this with a TMAXX 3.3. So anyone with a TMAXX up to 2.5 (black case), use the two part numbers he shows in this video, otherwise 3.3 (grey case), use Traxxas part number 5394x. Hope this helps. Cheers!!
Agreed with other process. However, why you need replace the drive shaft with a shorter one, the original one just works fine without replace the plastic shaft(the one with two metal pins to original brakes). One thing need emphasize, the screws to lock the big gear may loose and fall off, it happened to me today. I just redo them with thicker screws and glued them. Will see how it works tomorrow, after dried.
I would hold on to the kit for now I seen a few people do it like that some hold up some don't believe you can put the gears from one rod to the next by knocking out the pins and they sell a 3.3 kit as well not sure if that was it or not but glad you made it work that's what it's all about and appreciate the shout out again glad I can help out the steel spur gear looks good and I have a few videos on my channel about goolrc brushless motors about 5 different motors in one video good to see its coming along so far looking great
Rc Fun thanks man! Appreciate the comments. I'm still working on selling my other parts that I took off! Haha. I also know there are some all metal transmission gears I can also replace the plastic ones with. Hopefully the engine will be here soon. I don't have an eta on it yet. Still sitting in California. Lol
You are converting your Transmission into a Gear Box , so the Electronic Speed Control (ESC) can do Forward , Brakes, and Reverse from your transmitter
So basically for the 3.3 you don't need any kit just disassemble take out first gear and lock 2nd any other way to lock it other than screws that's going to fall out and why the shorter shaft ?
I’m wondering if the forward only kit will work with my Traxxas metal cvds since you had to install a front on your back knuckle. If it doesn’t then I would need to keep the brake and reverse then instead of having the ESC control braking and reverse.
He's not taking out second speed it's First gear that's been taken out,the second gear needs to be locked together so it's turns forward and reverse using the ESC
Ideally it would ge good to get rid of the traxxas gearbox all together and run a center diff from a buggy or something, ice found the plastic yea was spur gear to ve pretty weak and strip gears
he means can he have the part you didn't need. the ones Not used here. I have the black transfer case what parts do i need. you made me so confused now. what kit do i need for black older trans ?
It would have been easier to take a Traxxas Slash two wheel drive complete transmission and engine VXL and drop it in place of it instead of left and right wheel it's front and rear wheels
Exactly the same problem I had when I bought "the electric conversion kit", needless to say I wasn't impressed. Things aren't clear enough from Traxxas.. When I get some time I'll be tackling this again. I've converted an old T-maxx and intend on having a bit of fun using it for FPV exploration.
I believe that part won’t work in the 3.3 Trany, due to I tired it. And if you put an Electric system in it, it dose become a E maxx due to that’s what the E stands for, Electric maxx.
Me too... I bought both kits a few years back for another grey gearbox - and to have the same findings as this chap on the video. Fair to say - I was pissed off that the gearbox couldn't be closed. But looking at the forward only conversion kit, it's an identical gear on a slightly shorter shaft, so I'm not sure how that's going to make the car go reverse as well, as essentially it's just the same as the stock item..
There are two different kits one is for the black transmission which is for the 2.5 and the other kit is for the grey transmission which is for the 3.3 which is a much stronger transmission which was built for the 3.3 revo but was also used in the traxxas 3.3
damn I hate that....but would had bee n easier to just get a decent 1/8 motor with higher rpm .. You can get high torque/ high RPM brushless motors ..easy and cheap , now. Use 2-ea RX...one just for the breaking ( throttle reverse) and AUX swtich for forward and reverse....Progran out the break on the motor's ESC or not...it's not going to matter much ( oneway bearing)..$7 for an RX and just run it on a 1S lipo pack...it's mainly just for the breaking/throtle servo...You can plug the other serrvo where ever. You'll still have a 2 speed truck. which is better and will run the motor COOLER. .The orgianl Tmaxx only had a .15 nitro engine in it. It was a baby motor...It'll fly on a 4074 0r 4076 brushless motor.lol Electric motor dont need to idle.lmao

I’ve been looking for this comment for months thanks so much
I haven’t been for months, but today only😂 I have 3.3 and a 5394x kit so heck yeah
Thanks for this vid., saved me A TON of headache.
Thanks for the comment and view! Glad it was helpful.

Good job! Tomorow i will make my gearbox work in reverse:X
You are converting your Transmission into a Gear Box , so the Electronic Speed Control (ESC) can do Forward , Brakes, and Reverse from your transmitter
How did you pull the pin out of the gear
Quick question will the black transmission case fit in the 3.3 Tmax
So basically for the 3.3 you don't need any kit just disassemble take out first gear and lock 2nd any other way to lock it other than screws that's going to fall out and why the shorter shaft ?
I need that single speed I’m doing a conversion on mine your video has been the most helpful for transmission thank you
I need that single speed for an E.T. im planning
I had just cut and ground down the pins on the shaft knuckle
you could have just dremmel the "forward kit piece" and make the shaft shorter and it would have fit? at 15:30
U still have the forward only?
Where do you find the plate to convert to electric?
I’m wondering if the forward only kit will work with my Traxxas metal cvds since you had to install a front on your back knuckle. If it doesn’t then I would need to keep the brake and reverse then instead of having the ESC control braking and reverse.
Will that single speed 5193x work for my revo?
I need the black transmission case for the revo 3 3
Does revo 3.3 and tmaxx use same transmission parts?
You can make the pins out of old drill bits the teeth on the 32 pitch they break you should be using Mach1 gears
Where buy all parts for the conversion?
Sooo, I'm just wondering if you still have the gears ?
By the way, nice video.
Thanks for stopping! I do not have the gears any longer. I actually sold the truck.
I still got the gears brand new just removed mine only primary missing it broke 5395 I’m pretty sure is the only missing one
Do you still have that single speed transmission
Do you still have that single speed transmission?
What did you do to the breaking system? I can use them for mine.
Why take out 2 speed?
He's not taking out second speed it's First gear that's been taken out,the second gear needs to be locked together so it's turns forward and reverse using the ESC
Ideally it would ge good to get rid of the traxxas gearbox all together and run a center diff from a buggy or something, ice found the plastic yea was spur gear to ve pretty weak and strip gears
Hey dude can I get the single speed conversion that u don't need ??
Nestor Nero I am using the single speed gear now! Thank you!
he means can he have the part you didn't need. the ones Not used here. I have the black transfer case what parts do i need. you made me so confused now. what kit do i need for black older trans ?
T. Man the black older trans uses both
Hey man,Thanks a ton for sharing.
It would have been easier to take a Traxxas Slash two wheel drive complete transmission and engine VXL and drop it in place of it instead of left and right wheel it's front and rear wheels
They're going to throw it off balance with three screws on one side and I want screw on the opposite

Gool rc motor are fine. Esc never buy ever went through like 4 in month lol 😆
I am now more confused than before

I’ll take it live in Lenore we 25676 po 135 name is Wilburn evans
why can'
you not just use the 2 speed will be faster
hum kay
Get to the Fing point. You are extremely repetitive and long winded.
I watched the video in 1.5x playback speed
