  • How to Fight | How to Hit the Bag with Tim Kennedy
    Fighting. Fighting is hard. Some people are born with it like a gift. A natural refined talent of dealing out violence. Then there are people like me. Born more genetically similar to an ogre. I should’ve just been this gross creature crawling out from underneath a bridge to eat your children but instead, I went on to fight for the UFC and world titles. Nothing came easy to me. Getting to where I can make up for the lack of ability or natural athletic prowess was through hard work and discipline. I still train as if I’m going to fight but I save my brain from damage. Bag workouts and mitts are two of the best ways to stay in fighting shape without getting hit in the head.

    Tim you are the type of american I aspire to be! I’m working day by day to turn my life around. I quit smoking cigarettes, working on eating better but have yet to find a good fit for lunch while I’m at work. For some reason I keep finding a mental block for getting myself into the gym. I’ve tried a healthy lifestyle a few times and each time I’ve either gotten derailed or given up. I’m tired of being the “big guy” who all my friend constantly are saying you’re not fat you’re just a big dude. I walk around at 250-255 but would love to get down to 225 or so with low body fat. Seeing you, Jocko and Rogan I think can be the difference this time in my life. Positive role models I can aspire too! So thank you for that sir!

      Good luck man I wish you the best of luck my advise for the gym is just go slowly and try going twice a week and maybe you might start to enjoy it. Have you managed to get to the gym yet? I love the gym but terrible with a dirt I'm tired of people telling me I have a gut so once I've recovered from covid and I'm back in England from my tour I'll get onto a proper diet after the first couple of weeks back and start doing mma properly and going to the gym as well.
      I wish you luck mate 😃

    Tim thanks for all the great content you always deliver. Can you do a video on basics into Jiu Jitsu? I'm a LEO in New Mexico and living on the border of Mexico and Arizona, I have been trying to get into BJJ but the closest class I can find is a 5 hour round trip with the class included and they have limited times for classes. I will be attending one of your Sheepdog course in Georgia in February. I'm excited to learn the "spinning knee!" haha Thanks again.

I was taking kickboxing for over a year but that class just ended for good, and I just started learning Muay Thai a few months ago. I struggle in sparring. Interested in hearing your take. thanks.

    I never hear about hitting someone in the junk (males of course) or grabbing the junk and dragging them across the floor. Is this a practical move in a street fight or close combat? Tim, have you ever had to do this in close combat? Do you teach a technique of hitting the junk with leg or forearm, or grabbing junk? What about setting up with elbow hit or punch then grabbing junk. Then finishing up with round house kick to head when the perp is doubled over?

    What a good split of MMA training and weight training would be.

    • @AdobadoFantastico
      @AdobadoFantastico 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, it mostly depends how often you train. The more you train, the more you will struggle with diminishing returns. If you're competing and training every day, then where you are in your weight class. Tim was a beefy middleweight so he would've done way more lifting than the taller guys who are bringing more dense mass(bone) by default.

    • @FatShadow56
      @FatShadow56 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everyone has to find their performance “sweet spot”, but in my youth as a bigger guy that had the strength I needed, I would do a 2hr full body weight routine twice a week, ran the other 4 days, and did my best to train/roll within an hour or two of running to really help me get comfortable being energy depleted. Obviously, not going to work for everyone, but this worked really well for me. Strength never suffered, but the focus was more on technique and endurance

    • @robbybee70
      @robbybee70 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      more then likely, for a natural athlete they would come on different days but it'd be hard to set up without knowing what the non lifting was going to consist of because building the skills for mma would be paramount
