I remember you and Abby hiking with Deadbolts. Great idea to take a crawler on hikes and strapping extra batteries to the roof! Super way to add some fun to a hike!
Loving your videos as usual! Considering one of these crawlers myself to get started on some fun projects. Impressive if the batteries last a whole hour!
Nice trail spot. Cool of the park guy to let you know about it. No doubt when you further explore it you'll find some nice hill climb spots. --- I rarely take extra batteries with me other than a spare set of AA's for the controller, because I rarely go anywhere other than my own back yard. And I've never ran my battery down in my Gen8. I get tired of playing before the 2S 5200 mAh battery I have in it runs out. I've never even charged the 2nd battery I bought for it, so it's still brand new in the box. One thing I always take with me when I go out with my trucks is trekking pole to knock spider webs down and so I don't fall down walking up and down hills. I always take a canteen of water, and a light tripod in my backpack because I'm always by myself and I've never learned to drive one handed.
My grandfather had a real scout , and used to take us 4-wheeling every other weekend or so . Watching this video brought back some fond memories of him . He was a great man , just like you guys are a great family . Thanks for another great video.....Hope you have a great 4th .
Nate, Abby! I'm so very proud of you guys. I am one of the original 1k subs and to think of how far you two have come is amazing! You guys deserve the best. Thank you for everything!
I agree with a lot of the comments. Having a front facing carrier is a good idea, she seemed so involved with the truck that she'd love watching it roll on in front. Maybe that way she could 'drive' with Daddy's help!
I put a camera mount on the bed of my Redcat (Blackout XTE Pro, 1/10 scale), to take some ground level video. Only problem is the vibration, which can be significant (and usually too much for post-processing video stabilization) - especially when going fast over rough terrain. It still gives you a nice angle to splice into your videos though! By the way, the approved way to walk a trail and avoid spider webs is to pick up a good sized stick and wave it up and down in front of you as you walk. Even a very light stick or long twig can do this easily. After my life changing spider bite incident (the side effects of which I live with every day), I can attest that you really want to stay away from spiders who may bite you! Thanks for the fun video - go Redcat!
First aid kit that I put together, lol tools and h20!!! First aid kit always it has helped people get to the hospital once that I can remember, and multiple times for just scrapes or Burns and such. Love you guys
Whenever I go into the wilderness I like to bring medical supplies just in case, also spares of spares so I don’t have to worry about something missing or being out of order
my son turns 1 this month he loves when istrap him to my chest and play with my rc trucks. he always kicks his legs with excitement with every pass. enjoy rc fam-
Great video as always.....i love my gen 8... i never go on the trail without some basic tools and tape..... a wire getting ripped out ended my day too many times......now where is the SAILBOAT!!!!!! lol
Great idea ! I have a walking trail 2 miles from my house. I'll have to take my truck out for a trail run ! Thanks for another great video from the Rcsaylors!! 👍🙏😃 ps. My wife said your daughter is so beautiful. 😃
I bring my crawler backpack. It has everything from snacks to water bladder & "crash kit". A full tool kit enough parts and spares to fix most things on most popular trucks . I can even solder on the trail.
Nice video. I do a lot of hiking on many different trails so I just might get myself a crawler to bring with me and stop every now and then at a challenging crawler spot. I would need some way of conveniently carrying the truck because I'd not be interested in crawling an entire hike.
I’m just glad I’m not the person inside that truck... your driving would have broken my neck! ;). But, that’s why you can drive that way... it’s a great toy.
What is that b-roll audio you're using.. Is that from last action hero or something.. I'm sure I've heard it before... ( The orange RC Racing Truck is my favorite as well! :)
OMG!! LOL!!! Mommy FILMING Amelia DRIVING Daddy CRAWLING a COOL crawler !! WHAT AN AWESOME VIDEO!! Amelia's hands holding on straps right at 10 and 2...she gets a STICKER 👏👏👏👏👏!! Thanks Saylors, you made magic!! 💟👍😘
I have a back pack and a tool box I take. Basically I take 4 rc vehicles also. Rgt adventure v2, sg 1801, hbx devastator, all 1/28th and my 1/16 smax, all stock. I take all the batteries I have. My micro tool set. My 20,000 mah battery bank, the appropriate chargers and cables. The locking wheel jut wrenches, at least 2 of them. A spare set of wheels/tires from an rgt adventurer v2 that fit the crawlers. Eventually I'll have my wltoys 12428 rebuild to join the rest. I find my backpack and tool box carry everything I need rather well. I also have a selfie stil tripod for my phone, and a cheap digital video camera for recording some trail runs.
I keep the needed drivers in my pocket. That's about it, man. If you're bashing, keeping arms and other suspension parts are a good idea of course. That's also assuming you've got the cash to willingly break your truck lol. I don't have that luxury....between my son and I, all 4 trucks are out of order. Bullocks.
The baby would be happier if you could cray her higher up on your back, slightly to one side or the other. High enough so she could see over your right or left shoulder, if possible, in stead of looking at your back, having to constantly look left or right to see anything. I imagine that her little neck gets really tired. I know that mine would. I love the family videos. Would like to see more of Abby in front of the camera doing reviews. You two should trade off operating the camera more often. Keep up the good work. ;-)
We did the same thing as you guys with our crawlers. I find it's challenging trying to hike on a trail with an RC because of the rules and regulation in California parks. 90% of the time we got harrassed by park rangers. Our crawlers are not loud or fast that can injure others. Also the trails are not crowded. I'm not sure if others are experiencing this. Now my RC are just sitting on the shelf.
If watching survival shows taught me anything you need to bring a knife, a multitool, and enough food/water for 24-48 hours. Then of course a blanket/warmer clothing. Never know when you could misstep and twist a knee or ankle. Of course these are all super important if you're by yourself. RC wise I would bring a battery, a spare mounted tire, and maybe a sleeve/ tackle box insert of smaller spare parts.
Hi nice trail, I have just bought my gen8, it's my first RC, I am initiating. I'm from Bariloche Argentina. I have a question what battery capacity you recommend, Ibougth a 3s lipo of 2500 mAh and it last half an hour, Thanks
New to crawling but have been around RC racing (buggies, trucks, short course) for years. I threw down with Traxxas. For no other reason then they are very well supported through the local hobby shop network and on-line. After market upgrades are available for just about everything you might want to upgrade. But more to the point I think the TRX-4 sport does everything the Redcat does. The difference is who can support me the best... and no question here, its Traxxas and their network.
maybe old news but in the gen 8v2 the battery tray has a dip in it and if you have gotten the 4 way tire iron in wheel sets it fits right in that dip and the battery just rests on top of it and it cant move or fall out therefore you can always have a way to take a tire off :P something i learned just the other day lol
I have an orange gen 8 too and a enduro and a capra. I still really love my gen 8 it took me about ten months to break it for the first time and it’s got miles and miles on it
Looked good on the trail. Must have water, protein trail mix. Flea/tick repellent. Cause your definitely in tick country. Definitely don't want tick fever. Also little one 😇needs a front row seat, facing forward. You could see her little neck twisting back and forth getting kinks.😦. Gives her a better view to satisfy her curiosity. Maybe a neck brace to help hold her head up,still building those itty-bitty neck muscles. Nice walking area, definitely a must return destination. 🤗🤗⚓⚓⚓⚓😊.
I recomend a spektrum rtr remote and reciever for it and a 9tooth pinion, much smoother that way oh and run it on 3s with a hobby wing 1080 crawler esc

So fun, but you buried the lede :-) 8:50 you nailed it when it comes to RC crawling, and what it can be. Thanks for another feel-good film.
WOW - That intro shot looked just like a real truck!
Nate, Abby! I'm so very proud of you guys. I am one of the original 1k subs and to think of how far you two have come is amazing! You guys deserve the best. Thank you for everything!

I guys, love those slow motion plan. They looks real. So cool
Loved the camera angles! Great video Saylors. I really want a Scout
Get a front facing baby carrier so she can what's going on. By the time she can work a remote she'll be all clued in.
Yeah this baby carrier can face all different directions. It's pretty neat! That's a good idea 👍⚓😃
Yup I wore one of the front facing baby carriers too. The little ones love it.
Looked like a fun time, and as usual, Amelia was the star of the show! Those expressions looking back at her mom were priceless! :D

It looks so funny when Nate walks and Amelia is just bobbing up and down ahaha!
First aid kit that I put together, lol tools and h20!!! First aid kit always it has helped people get to the hospital once that I can remember, and multiple times for just scrapes or Burns and such. Love you guys
very nice, fine, so ... soft, good atmo ... happy family ... thanks, thats about hobby ... and you got IT !! love you, Zdenek N.
The Gen 8 Scout II really shines in this episode. I like the realistic close-up footage!
Ice maker, lemonade and a chair. Wait what were we going to do again? Loved the video!
Hitting the trails is a blast, Good video,
Whenever I go into the wilderness I like to bring medical supplies just in case, also spares of spares so I don’t have to worry about something missing or being out of order
I love Abby laughing. Such a happy RC family.
We love this hobby and life! Thank you ❤👍⚓😃
This needs an audio module now. :P
Engine sounds would definitely be a bonus... That and a light kit, perhaps.
I'm on the lookout for an audio module. Any thoughts?
@@TheRcSaylors I'm doing a bit of digging, apparently Turnigy has an AIO kit. I'll drop a PM your way and such.
I love you guys are my favorite
Nate, Abby, care package inbound to you guys, ships out tomorrow!
Spare nuts and bolts, grub screws, electrical tape, batteries, tools, camera, water and a few snacks... great video guys, i enjoy what you do..

Good video. Your daughter is so adorable and well behaved while filming
Strap on fpv cam on the car, use goggles & you and Abby take turns and see how far you get on the trail...when it's dry. Luv your vids.
Great video as always.....i love my gen 8... i never go on the trail without some basic tools and tape..... a wire getting ripped out ended my day too many times......now where is the SAILBOAT!!!!!! lol
Awww so cool!
Congratulations.
Hi Amelia!
Goo goo Gaga!
Nate was getting down with that crawler!!
Cue the Rock Music lol
I love seeing you guys do more videos like this showcasing more enthusiast RCs.
I like that trail you went on. You'll definitely have to do more rc vehicle reviews there. Excellent video Nate, Abby, & Amelia!!
Thanks Alan! It's always good to hear from you. Hope your family is doing well 👍⚓😃
@@TheRcSaylors You're very welcome. Thank you much. Family is doing well here 😊 ⚓

Abby, thank you for the giggling . I'm on the fence over this truck vs the axial knock off. But very excited about getting into crawling RCs .
I see that you guys have multiplied since the last time I saw you :)
Just getting into the hobby great video watch twice
Gr8 review, Be blessed Nate, Abby and AMILIA I just love your channel the passion, and advise is worth while and so educational. Appreciate it🙏🙏Will
Love the video! keep it up u guys are the best thanks you😁⚓⚓
Great video y’all
Thank you 👍⚓😃
Hey Nate, what upgrades have you done to the Scout? I’m looking at getting one soon.
What's the mosquito thing?
Yep I want to know too
Hey guys I’m a new subscriber love your videos so far I was wondering if there was anyway you guys could do a video on an Arrma Granite BLX 4X4.
Very cool! I bring extra batteries, bottle of water, tool/screw kit!!
Wow 3 years ago it says on TH-cam. She is sooo cute. 😊
What is that b-roll audio you're using.. Is that from last action hero or something.. I'm sure I've heard it before... ( The orange RC Racing Truck is my favorite as well! :)
The music? We bought that music license a few years ago from a site called premium beats. Music licenses for TH-cam are pretty expensive 💰💵😢😫
I love your show and I want you to know that I think you guys are getting really professional looking video, especially your close up shots.
Hey guys the top one you bring to the trail it’s the dog ,imagine Popeye he would be having fun. Never mind
Wow
Cool video awesome rc,thanks for the video.
Absolutely! Thanks for tuning in 👍⚓😃
That was great. The orange truck on the trail looked really good against the green grass and trees.
Awesome video guys 👍 the gen 8 ,
What I take trailing?? A compass, a walking stick, cellphone, a beverage and an empty backpack!!! 😎😏
I have heard it described as unexpected excercise

Got a H20 back, batteries, tools extra parts. What Upgrade you doing?, I sent ya pics of my Gen 8 orange, did ya get them?
How are the motors on those? Any problems with overheating?
For a second, I thought the truck in the thumbnail was an actual life size truck!
How long do you get from each battery Nate?
About an hour and a half to two hours, easily 👍⚓😃
@@TheRcSaylors wow thats awsom.
I so have to get me one of those gen 8s as they are a relly good looking truck.

What battery pack and kind are you using??
I’ll bring food, a snack , and then something to eat later. 😝
Sounds like I'd be borrowing from you on the trail! My kind of stuff I'd bring too 👍⚓😃
That redcat scout is sweet, which battery do you suggest for the longest life and most power?

I love my gen 8 I'd say it performs just as well as the trx4. The main annoying thing I find on it is the bump steer specially on a slight side slope
