An excellent and fluently analytical book that fulfills it's objective which is what Mr. Salve calls 'demysitifies the court' on the front page. And as Chintan clearly highlighted, the book sheds light on the reality that courts categorically don't have the final decision in most matters. The author has exquisitely compiled and scrutinized the cases in demonstrating the 'iterative game of action-response-rejoinder' in Chintan's words himself. The Parliament and other public institutions often try to subvert constitutional morality to establish its supremacy and nullify the judicial opinion. So courts as a 'haven of justice' is quite an anachronistic presumption which Chintan has made explicitly evident in his case analysis. The book does a fantastic job to help the general public develop a different narrative of the Indian judiciary in general and the Supreme Court in particular.

Quite honestly ,we don't really need diversity what we need is equal opportunity so that any woman ,dalit etc can become judge, minister etc not because of their identity but because of their skill and hardwork.

"Black robes, white lies.............Lying, distortion and other forms of intellectual dishonesty are endemic among judges." Alan M. Dershowitz, Harvard Professor of Law.
I agree with your statement, Mr. Shekhar Gupta, saying that it is indeed embarrassing to read some of the Judgments of the SCI.
One such Judgment is dated 6.10.2015, titled Vijay Kumar Agarwal, IAS v UOI and another, authored by Mr. Justice A.K.Sikri, who is sitting with you right now.
In a nutshell, the Hon'ble CAT, vide Order dated 18.11.2003, quashed and set aside the order dated 13.5.1996 issued by the Government of Maharashtra, on the ground that it was violative of the Rule 5B of All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969.
The said Order dated 18.11.2003 attained finality because the respondents failed to challenge it.
But CAT illegally refused to grant me consequential benefits flowing out of the said quashment of the said order dated 13.5.1996.
I approached the Hon'ble HC of Delhi and the Hon'ble SCI for the said consequential benefits. But to no avail.
What is most amazing, nay, shocking, is that even though the said Order of CAT dated 18.11.2003 is holding the filed till date, as the HC and SCI have not set it aside, I have been illegally deprived of the said consequential benefits!
Indeed, the said Judgment dated 6.10.2015, titled Vijay Kumar Agarwal, IAS v UOI and another, authored by Mr. Justice A.K.Sikri, reads like a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing!
    Indeed, much ado about nothing!
What a fall from the days of the Fabulous Four: Justice V.K. Krishna Iyer, Justice P.N. Bhagwati, Justice O. Chiannappa Reddy and Justice D.A. Desai.
After a smorgasbord of falsehood and deliberate deceptions running into around 12 pages, Mr. A.K.Sikri has shockingly dismissed my SLP "in limine".
Unfortunately, Mr. A.K.Sikri is whispered to be a corrupt judge in the corridors of the SCI.
Indeed, the threat to the Judiciary and democracy is from within!
For details, please contact Vijay Kumar agarwal, Ex-IAS, Mobile: 9560172716, vijay.kumar.agarwal.ias@gmail.com.

Another case that should and will be decussed is the "sitting" on the case by the Supreme Court today in the abrogation of Article 370, and the Central government clamping down a virtual curfew on elected representatives to their homes, and state , that is, its people almost held to ransom at the mercy of ruling dispensation at Delhi and the Supreme Court sitting like a lame duck and watching all rights put in a freezer !!

We need more judges firstly and lots of diversity. Our judges to population ratio is low. And this govt is controlling judicial appointments with an iron fist. Afraid of having its people's cases decided. We also need lots more police personnel. Our cops to population ratio is 5th lowest in the world. Successive govts have tried to keep a strong hold on judiciary and police and not allow them to be truly empowered and toothy, as they obviously fear going to jail themselves.
