how about interpretative phenomenological analysis? Is the process the same?
so far i have understood that the steps are similar only the labels/terminology is different.
    So codes-statements
Then themes of one case-personal experiential statements (subordinate themes)
And then overall themes-Group experiential statements (superordinate themes)
    Is that correct?

Is it required to have many Themes in qualitative research?

Not necessarily, you could end up just having one theme in your research. Though that tends not to be the case. More often than not researchers find they have too many themes, and they have to find how they relate so they can boil it down just to 2-5 themes in the end

Is this a thematic analysis or narrative analysis?

Great question! This process of grouping codes into themes is found in thematic analysis. With Narrative Analysis you group narratives in core narratives. You can learn more about narrative analysis in our narrative analysis video: th-cam.com/video/rrxhNQGvLPQ/w-d-xo.html

After grouping codes into themes, the next step is "Evaluating and Revising Themes". You can learn more in our Intro to Qualitative Coding Webinar: th-cam.com/video/FMh_2Q2t6kA/w-d-xo.html
