Thanks for this! It worked although amazon has slightly changed some things in order to get to the right page. All (top left on every Amazon webpage) > You Account > Digital Services and Device Support > Change your digital and device settings > Preferences (along the top of page) > Under 'Saved Network Passwords' delete the saved network. Then go to your Alexa app and select any of your Alexa devices (you need to be standing near it - Tip - Give your device it's call word - Alexa - and when it errors out after not finding a network that device should give you a pop up) and then you can select your new network name and put in the password and as long as you leave the "Save password to Amazon" option selected you only need to do this once instead of for every device. We have 8 Echos so this was a winner! :D
@@AutomateYourLife No reset, it's a delete of the saved wifi profile. Then when you add your next devices it'll ask you if you want to save the new wifi credentials.
Unless you completely deregister your echo, the old wifi passwords remain stored locally on the device even if you remove from cloud. In my view this is a major design flaw with privacy implications - if you purposely move your devices to a guest SSID to separate them from your home network, you may find they have jumped back onto your main network.
This info was great! I had to get a new router and Wi-Fi name. I was on phone with Alexa tech trying to change Wi-Fi password on Alexa and also searching internet for an easier way at the same time on my IPad. The guy wanted to take control of my windows computer to fix problem and I told him I’d call him back tomorrow. I hung up and tried your info and it worked beautifully. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video! I switched to another ISP and was annoyed about having to change the Wifi every time on my two echoes whenever I had to unplug or move them because it would automatically try to sign in to the old WiFi.
Thank you for this! You'd think the Alexa app developers would have followed through in the app with an option to Change when you click CHANGE. *eye-roll*
Amazon Echos and All alexas in general have tons of software bugs, its mind blowing how bad Amazon in refining their softwares, enless lag and such messy UIs
Great information, thanks a million! Tried to reset my router info in my new Amazon thermostat and spend 2 hours on trying to find out where to reset it….
Thanks very much!!👍🏻In my case a (new) device reconnected to another existing but bad functioning network… I still don’t’ know why that disconnection happened, do you have an idea? Maybe a firmware update needed?😅
My echo 4th gen has been deregistered and I reset it, but I’m not able to update WiFi since it’s searching for the old WiFi info. I’m trying to register the device again and it’ll show up when the Alexa app searches for devices, but the device won’t add to my account as it immediately starts searching for WiFi so I can’t update anything. Is there a way to fix this?
Amazon team should put a link to these settings in the Alexa app - I've been battling this issue for months now since we added a mesh which Alexa didn't like.
Hi!! Have you found that the dot somehow miraculously remembers your deleted WiFi passwords after a few days? I have deleted all WiFi passwords from my account, gone in and reset all 8 of my dots with the correct WiFi password, and somehow within a few days half of my dots have jumped back to my guest network (even though I successfully deleted the password from my saved Amazon wi-fi passwords). Wondering if you’ve had this issue.
Password is also saved locally on the echo and there's no way to delete it unless you deregister your echo device and re-register it, basically a reset.
Thank you!!! Amazon sucks with its instructions. They do not tell you how to add a new saved network. They make it sound like once you update one device everything will update to the new one. However, they don't tell you step one to do the Permanently Delete! Still waiting for my other devices to find the new network though! 🙄
The link has changed, but the options are the same. Classic AMZ making you delete everything and rebuild instead of letting you actually edit the wifi settings via the app. I had a device that would only work on 4g. So the next 5g device wouldn't let me try for a new network. Apparently I need to try the 5g network first with one device. Then use the 4g device and then show amz the 4g network.
****Additionally to what he said you have to deregister the device and reregister with the the updated network id and password you want it to store. Kind of a hassle but fixed my problem of my Echos connecting to wrong network after every power outage. Update!!!! Even after doing what he said and actually deregistering and reregistering the device when I reboot my modem the echo STILL chooses the old network. I guess it's impossible to do this succesfully.
Thank you for this video.. this is imo the biggest fail i have experienced with amazon.. my echo keeps automatically connecting me with the wrong wifi network.. why can’t you just “forget wifi network” smh
UPDATE: My Echo still switched back! I’m about to smash my echo with a baseball bat rn lol Seriously tho wtf why is Amazon failing so badly at this!?! All I want to do is have my Echo forget my old wifi network - and it’s seemingly not possible 😔
Accidentally reset my modem to factory settings and all Alexa devices wouldn’t connect to new wifi name and password. Tried everything. Finally figured out the connection was paused in the Xfinity app. Had to unpause and then was able to connect through Alexa app. Unpaused through xfinity app by going to Wifi > Devices not connected > select Amazon Echo > unpause. Hope that helps someone, took me hours to figure out.
Somebody suggested I remove the device from my account last year, and now it is not registered. I try to connect to the wifi, and it wants to use an old modem. Amazon help says to open alexa app, open settings/wifi/change. Ha Ha on that one, that tab does not exist. I can find settings, but no wifi. I'm thinking if I delete my wifi settings from my account, there will be even more issues for my other devices.
You saved me frustration, tears, etc. Thank you SO MUCH!!!

Steve! Does this mean that I don't lose all my routines with the device or does it still blow away all the settings?
Hey Brian! this is just going to delete your saved wifi credentials. This won't affect your routines.
@@SteveDOES So it's a reset, without being a reset?
@@AutomateYourLife No reset, it's a delete of the saved wifi profile. Then when you add your next devices it'll ask you if you want to save the new wifi credentials.
Hours wasted at a party, years searching the internet (ok, not really years, but it felt like it!) and here is the solution!! So great. Thank you
Hmm, I did this AND disabled the frustration-free setup and I still can't seem to get my tap to connect. Any other suggestions?

Seriously wtf get it together amazon smh
I've been facing exactly the same issue with no solution until now. I guess I'll have to deregister and register again.
Steve excellent tutorial! Quick & to the point!

Thanks for the help and the quick video!!
Thank you!! This was very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Can you use intercom from echo dot4th gen to 3rd?
Excellent!! Made resetting Everything easy! Thank you Sir!!!
Glad it helped
Yes, perfect timing. Picking up new wi-fi router tomorrow. Your tips will come in handy with resetting Alexa. Thank you.
Awesome! Happy this helped.
What a life saver this was! So glad I found your video!! Thanks
Excellent! I have been searching for this.
Glad it helped!
Very helpful! I kept looking in the Alexa app and would not have thought to check my profile. THANKS!
Worked a treat , thanks
It worked!!! Thank you.
When I upgrade or change my wifi and password. Will I have to reset all my ring and wyze cameras?
Amazon Echos and All alexas in general have tons of software bugs, its mind blowing how bad Amazon in refining their softwares, enless lag and such messy UIs
Thank you! This non-technical girl figured it out with your help!
Thanks man. You gave a solution to one mfing irritating problem.
Great information, thanks a million! Tried to reset my router info in my new Amazon thermostat and spend 2 hours on trying to find out where to reset it….
Thanks! You saved us a lot of headaches, and perhaps our relationship. lol Seven stars!
haha, Happy to help!
Good tips, thanks.
Thanks for the info buddy, fixed my problem. Subscribed.
I was hoping you'd show how to manually change IP etc settings.
Still useful though, thanks
How do you take Alexa on vacation and hook up to hotel WiFi?
Thanks very much!!👍🏻In my case a (new) device reconnected to another existing but bad functioning network… I still don’t’ know why that disconnection happened, do you have an idea? Maybe a firmware update needed?😅
Thanks ...was thinking of getting a new network ..👍👍👍🍻🍻🍻
thank you so much. I can't believe it was buried that deep in menues! And not even in the alexa app!!!!
Thank you 😊👍
hm doesnt work for me. tried resyncing and resetting the apps as well. no luck.
Thank you so much!!! this information was very helpful.
Thank you. I had 5 speakers connecting to two different networks.

Thank you so much. There were never any instructions to go into my Amazon account. Not even customer service could get my Alexa dot back online.
Just a heads up this does not work. I’ve done this several times and it will still try to connect to the old one after a few days :(

I’m having so much trouble with this. When i enter my wifi password on the alexa app to set up my deviation it says my password is wrong 😢
Why the hell do they make it so complicated?
